GOOD WORK.....KEPP WORKEN AT IT AND AMKE LOTS OF MONEY.......ENJOY WHAT YOU DO AND NEVER LET WORDS OR OTHER ASSHOLES HURT WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY.....WELL DONE.....THANK YOU FOR THE VIDEO
hmmmm nice tital yes i know its wrong but imean how to *USE* an anvil and all this idiot did was go over all the little things you can do with wait wats that oh yeah its not even an anvil like tpidner said its a swedge block everyone flag this vid for being plain ought right retarded and sying things that never happen in the vid
@aznguy11111 Fuck you and fuck the horse you rode in on you rude piece of shit! Your mum sucked a nigger's cock and shazam, you were born. Now crawl in a hole and die bitch! LOL
To MrIronman1979. Ok, link us some real metal working stuff. I'm more intrested in the concept of it; just research for private interest. But it would be interesting to watch. As far as I know blacksmiths which work with the old ways are rare.
But for anyone else reading this...how about watching videos from FULL TIME, PROFESSIONAL blacksmiths and other full time metalworkers that smith on the side. Not a bar-b-que restaurant owner that didn't show the forge in action, gave no insight, hasn't a clue about his own tools etc. And if you ownly own 5 pair of tongs buddy....uh....you obviously aren't too well rounded a smith are you? Check out a REAL smiths shop.....see how many tongs a real smith has. Just for fun.
I made my own anvil, my own tongs, my own forges, my own frickin hammers, punches, drifts and just about every other smithin tool you could think of INCLUDING a swage block; and that's the beauty of being a smith...the ability to work metal...with metal and thus make your own shit. It's not hard to get by with a little ingenuity and a few basic tools. The only shit I BOUGHT were 2 hammers. True..I already had steel work skills and knew how to weld..but if you have the desire, alls possible.
First we blacksmiths dont EVER POUND metal... we blacksmiths SHAPE it. Anyone who feels they need to buy a "universal anvil?" did you call it? Hahaha...thats a swage block....and they're nice to have if you have money for 'em...but they're not necessary. Look...anyone reading this that's new to smithing and wants to learn..you can get into smithing spending almost NO money, and you don't need a bunch of fancy shit...just skill you'l aquire over time with practice, resourcefulness & creativity.
Great video. One thing though. It was way too short man! You seem like you know what you are doing and you could share the knowledge with longer videos! Appreciate it!!
lol well if you buy everything you would need for smithing id say you're in the wrong hobby the only tools ive spent money on were my few pairs of tongs a good peddinghuas 3.3lb pound cross pein a cheap anvil and a few books on the craft and so far its paid for its self
@tpidner17 Swaging (pronunciation note below) is a forging process in which the dimensions of an item are altered using a die or dies, into which the item is forced.[1] Swaging is usually a cold working process, however it is sometimes done as a hot working process.[2] This swage, since you can't even spell that right, is essentially an anvil that has preset shapes for the facilitation of forging specific items. Seriously.
i was thinking of getting into blacksmithing/metal forging as a hobby...can anyone tell me about how much a decent set of all the equipment would cost?
Well... "Decent" has many definitions. I'd say about $300 starters. But its completely relative to what type of forge you make, and what type of anvil you get... So thats a really hard question to answer.
What a retard? A universal Anvil, lmao. Its a Swage dude. Then he talks about how much experience you need at the end of the show. I've just started Blacksmithing as a hobby and know that its a Swage. lol.
might want to rename the title to some training in equipment not Blacksmithing basics
