I have Fibromyalgia and anyone is welcome to email me with their reply on this. Do those of you viewing that have the syndrome feel there is a possible connection between addiction and Fibromyalgia, like nicotine withdrawals causing nerve pain? Thanks
@tamra1975 I went to a Psychiatrist that researched and specialized in Fibro. He stated that it could have been triggered by the act of me quitting smoking. I have never been the same since. So Maybe that is the case. It's been 11 years since I quit smoking, how long though, does this withdrawl last? That makes me think it's just your body reacting to the ceasing of the addiction and you never bounce back. All I know is that It started after that.
Thank you for your calm and assertive explanation of Fibromyalgia. Sometimes I strain trying to find the right words to explain what im feeling, you did that so nicely. Your friend in pain, Patty
My ex husband was even the one that saw the first information on Oprah years ago and went to the internet and printed out more info and gave it to me, once I was diagnosed and the pain and other stuff got worse, he was like no way, this is bullshit. He didn't believe me a lot of the times, because if he did, I can't believe he would have treated me so badly.
You are most welcome. As the years go by the pain gets worse. I wish that drugs helped. maybe one day one will actually work and not make me stoned. Thank you for your kind comment. I hope for you good health and no more pain take care of yourself.
I have Fibro as well. I was taking Gabapentin for it, and it helped incredibly. But I had to quit the job I was working because of Fibro. When I quit it, I lost my insurance. So now I have a job that lets me rest in the afternoon, which I seriously need, but no insurance. So the cheepest I have found for my meds is $136.00 a month. I can't afford it. I heard that you don't take meds. What do you do? I need help. I can't afford the meds, but without I just want to die.
Hi Penny sorry I didn't respond sooner. Sorry to hear that you lost your job and insurance because you were sick and that's the catch 22. How unfair, I do not take meds, I suffer pretty much with the pain and just push through. I just am exhausted because of it. I don't have much of a life really because I work and pass out. I take aleve to take the edge off, it barely works. So pretty soon I won't take anything. I have taken so many drugs, they don't work anyway.
I have to approve all the comments before they are posted honey. Yes people are so wrong about this illness they just can't believe that we can be sick because we aren't looking bad. I've dealt with that for over 10 years. My ex husband was the worst culprit, he thought I was faking.
I seem to have developed this condition following an accident 3 years ago. I went from being a sports fanatic and full time degree student to being almost an invalid. My career plans are now uncertain and probably impossible. My biggest issue is the fatigue/insomnia. I have a high pain threshold due to being hypermobile so I prefer the pain any day! I even call myself a part time retard when I have a fibro affected day. I'm 36 now and I have no idea what my future life quality is going to be.
I don't know what comfort I can give you after having this disease for 10 years plus. It's not easy, it's difficult to live this way, and I hurt every day all day. I have really bad insomnia and I'm fatigued also. It's effected my jobs, I have really moved around a lot just so I can pay bills. Your future is uncertain as is everyone's, just choose to work thru the pain, be positive and the alternative to not living with this is unthinkable. Blessings to you!
i have sometimes felt i had this....but i don't. however i do know mr. depression and mrs. aniety....and i gained weight from medication...i need to lose 60 lns.
I have had it for over thirty years, no remission ever. The only thing that helps is walking and stretching and pills for pain. Why do we need to talk about pain over and over, the ones who care about what you say, know what pain is, no need to explain it. (i smoke)
Nicotine patches, gum, and cigarettes are used sometimes to treat fibro because nicotine increases blood flow to the brain and body, this isn't talked about and i know how bad smoking is for you, but i find it interesting that you noticed this after you stopped smoking, best of luck to you.
wow. I'm surprised my doctor didn't mention the nicotine patches.. he's definitely on the up and up regarding quiting smoking and fibro. Where is this info? I'm totally interested in finding out about that. Thank you so much for commenting.
Wow. Suicidal feelings happen with this illness. Maybe the medication just increased that emotion? Everyone is different however, I know that for sure with meds. SSRI's made me more depressed, so it's evident our brains are all different when it comes to medication. I use medicial marijauna as well. That helps me *cope* with it.
I didn't have suicidal feelings before I took Cymbalta. Soooo. The warnings on the information sheet warned that might happen, funny thing is I didn't read that until I had those feelings. I am considering seeing a doctor to get prescribed medical marijuana. I think that will be the next step. right now. I don't take any meds at all.
I feel the same way. What is worse then dealing with this crap is how other people make you feel. my employer seems to think its all in my head; I have been sent to shrinks, nurses and thier doctors and still been told its in my head. Even the people I work with think I am faking it. some days are good thats when I can work. Most days I cant. I am at home more then I am at work. the good new is it cant kill you (how good is that. when you have to live in pain your whole life.)
Oh no I didn't mean to miss this comment. Dumb YouTube. sometimes I don't get messages that I have a comment. I'm sorry. Most of my employers didn't even know I had it, I just suffered silently and took days off when I absolutely couldn't stand the pain, then I was on disability a few times. can't live on that amount of money. So now I just keep my mouth shut. My family knows I'm sick, but I don't think they really understand how horrible I feel. I just look too healthy I guess.
Whoa, first comment! 8-o Well done for giving up smoking. I've never heard of Fibromyalgia before, it's good to hear you talking so opently about it. I have asthma which I've improved greatly through exercise (healthy lifestyle and exercise truly are lifesavers, aren't they? I wish more people did it). Keep up the exercise, don't let anything get in it's way ... particularly excuses !! X-D
Thankyou so much x

my ex's response was to call yelling and blaming me for it without bothering to find out what it is or listening to me.

Thanks for you story, I've suffered for years with no meds, as I also have Multiple Chemical Sensitivities. You're inspirational.

I do not talk about pain over and over. I realize that those who don't have pain, they don't get it.
The people like us that do have pain, they get it and we can talk to each other about it. That's why I made this vlog. I do not take any pain meds.

Cymbalta helped me a lot. I still have it but it's not as bad. I know exactly what your going through. (hugs)

Cymbalta never helped in fact it made me feel suicidal. Thanks for the hug.
