What do you think about new set of Hetfields pickups?

@DoubleTommyRider I don't have an direct experience with them, but from what I understand, they do sound better than regular-ass EMGs. I don't like they way they look, though.

@HeavyMetalSonicRM I like them, But I haven't heard a reg set of EMGs in person to compare them to. I wasn't too crazy about the black chrome finish but all the hardware on the guitar(Black Edwards like showcased in this fine cover of blackened) is black chrome so they look awesome together. Although not familiar with reg EMGs they're better then the SD Blackouts that were in the guitar and I bought a second set for my other guitar that's getting a make over.

@HeavyMetalSonicRM I actually have a set in one of my guitars, they do sound so much better than the 81/60, but yeah the look is not as good. The best part is the color, I don't like the poles on them but they are still kick ass pickups

To anyone saying that Metallica can't play as well live anymore, that's probably true in some sense, but they still put on one hell of a show. I go every chance I get to see them. Not to mention, let's see how well you perform after 30 or so years of doing what they do. If it was easy, everyone would be doing it. Frickin Monday morning quarterbacks is all you are.

Metallica are the road dogs. They suck at recording records ( not making music) but live performances of their songs are like.. perfect.

@VodVodVodIzcul They haven't lost their ability, but they have gotten very lazy and the guitar tone sucks. You don't see other bands cutting parts out of their songs because they're afraid of messing it up. They also play way too fast, making songs like Sandman and Sad But True sound like happy crap.

@HeavyMetalSonicRM I agree their guitar tone is fucked up. I love the late 80`s raw guitar tone but yeah.. Also they turned down the drums. But they are old now. I don`t know when I`m 48 if I could go on stage and not brake any bones by jumping arround and doing all the activity they do. So I respect them for that thing. And waiting for them to come to Bulgaria again so I can see them no matter what their guitar tone is and what they cut from their songs ( yeah I missed the Big Four..)

@VodVodVodIzcul I can't figure out why their live guitar tone sucks because other bands that use EMGs sound good. They seem to have the same frequency problem as me, where it sounds like the guitar is out of tune or not intonated properly when it really is. My issue is that my amp isn't a true tube amp and can't handle the high output of actives, but I don't know what Metallica's issue is.

@HeavyMetalSonicRM I dunno so much about their guitar tone sucking, I thought the same thing for a while, then I saw them live at Yankee Stadium and my opinion completely changed. the tone was awesome, definitely had lots of grit and edge in it and it was heavy as fuck. Needless to say it def. sounds better live than on video/recordings. Btw, nice cover dude! Pretty tight.

@HeavyMetalSonicRM Their live tone is different because when they're playing such large arenas if they had the same tone as the album it would sound bad and hurt people's ears. They need a tone that will sound decent at any size arena, unfortunately you can't just mic up an amp and have it sound good everywhere :( live sound is a completely different kettle of fish unfortunately
