  • We were Indians when Columbus landed. We were Indians when they tried to make slaves out of us. We were Indians when they took our lands. My ancestors were Indians. My grand parents were Indians. My parents were Indians. I am an Indian. Native American was given to us by the same culture that had given us the name Indian. Red Skin at least describes our People when they painted their exposed skin keep away the Sun and bugs. Fred Jack Amikoonsgiyamanitoumahwhingon, Chippewa Elder

  • I MADE THESE FOR DINNER TONIGHT I LOVE BEING NATIVE! WE EAT THESE ALL THE TIME LOL

  • Hats off to all of you that can call them an indian taco. A name of a dish doesnt mean only that nationality makes them. Goodness people, we are all the same under God. There is so much drama in this world we all share....... Can we all just let the little things go please??

  • I have several different flavors of native blood, and I don't think the term 'indian' is really a point that needs to be made such a fuss over. Also, many different native peoples make fry bread, not just one. The native way is about living in harmony with nature, respecting all creation. Pick our fights wisely: that which stirs up resentment or reopens old wounds...not wise. Nature's way allows wounds to heal.

  • Hualapai Taco'ss are better ! haha

the correct term would be native american. kthanksbye!

  • @mnkriley Who cares about specifics, an Amerindian/First Nation/Red Person/Native American made it. That's that.

  • @mydneuknat If ur Native then u no wat that word means "Indian" But u dont no thats why u said that for.....Indian when u look it up comes from India thats WHY we Like to b call >>NATIVES<<

  • @mnkriley I am a First Nations woman, and I do not find the term at all offensive. In fact my sister, who still lives on a rez calls them Indian Tacos. Relax the political correctness. Its just food.

  • @mnkriley the correct term would be plains Indians. india wasnt called india in 1492 it was called Hindustan, people in Hindustan were not called Indians at that time. k thanks bye.

  • @mnkriley (Sherman Alexie) "Thesis: I have never met a Native American. Thesis repeated: I have met thousands of Indians"

  • @mnkriley @mydneuknat

I agree with mydneuknat, as a feathers not dot Indian, I don't care what term it is. Haha, of course, there's the terms for us mixed breeds, like my mom (Mexican/Native) as 'Indian Taco' and me (Mexican/Ojibwe/Dakota) as a Chihuahua Choker XD

  • Many of my friends attended the State Fair in Arizona (students from ASU) and said that the best taco of all was the Navajo Taco. I have to agree with them :)

  • Navajo taco...

  • i like to e at mine in a sandwhich

  • This Taco isn't so much different then a Mexican Taco. So that means Navajos are related to Mexicans by Uto-Aztecan family language and because of this, they share cultures with each other before 1492. Wonderful taco. The proper name for taco is(Ta-ca-o)Thats the original name for taco.

  • Actually, Navajos are related to Mexica by cultural traits & blood, but their language, is in the Athapaskan family. The Navajo taco is closer to a Mexica tostada, than to a Mexica taco. The only difference, that I can see, is Navajos use deep-fried wheat, where we use toasted corn. We Mexica, ourselves, have many subcultures, each with it's version of things. Many "American Indian" versions differ from ours, no more than Mexica subcultures' versions differ from each other.
