Don't buy the 701 or 900. The new 901 and 1000 have just been released. They cost a fraction more but offer sooooo much more for the money :)

Dont know what the fucks wrong with your Eee man, but i can open Firefox in 3 seconds on windows, and it takes about 3 seconds to shut down.

startup does take around a 50 seconds for me though

I have an iPod and I dont have to use iTunes to put music on it. You can use the File Manager thats already installed. Of course you can buy it with windows or if you wish install it later by yourself. If you buy it with Linux (which I think is the best choice) you will get OpenOffice which is exactly the same as Microsoft Office except that its free. :)

the olpc and the asus eee are 2 totally different products. the eee is a small business laptop for the 1st world while the olpc is a ruggidised education project for developing nations. it's really hard to think of a case where you're not sure which one's best for you.

The video states that the EEE PC is like Apple with one button. This is totally untrue. It is a rocker button, you press on the far left side and it clicks. If you press the right side it clicks a right click.

Apple one button is still the biggest joke. What form or function? Steve Jobs make a rocker button!

the EEE PC has a two button mousepad, not one.

and you can have the "page up" and "page down" with the "fuction" button, and not navitage throu the webpages tapping the "down" button over and over like the guy on the video.

It's not for you anyways, it's for the children. But there will be olpc technologies in your next laptop. Such as better screen, flash based memory, Linux and longer battery life. All those things are thanks to the OLPC project.

Who cares about processor, as long as the computer is fast enough to launch a browser, play videos, launch any kind of application, then processor speeds really is not important. Power consumption of the processor is much more important. And the AMD Geode CPU in the OLPC consumes 10 times less power then the Intel ULV processor in this Asus Eee.

OLPC is a billion times better than Eee. Asus should put fanless CPU, LED backlit LCD with sunlight readabillity mode, DCON chip and so much more to really lower the price.
