This car rocks. Mine is 1.5 years old. I love it to bits. It's Italian, it's fast, it's furious, it goes like a rocket and sticks like velcro. It can glide on ice/snow and it can swim. And it gets 99 octane fuel!!!

jeah but 17000 euros is to expensive i think for that car.. look what cars you can get for 17000.. cars with over 200 hp ...maybe 1-2 years old... like the Audi A6 or something
yes it' "only" 1.4 litres..but it have also 155 hp. i have the same engine in my car with 120 hp..and trust in me it's a very beautifull and powerfull engine.
they are very different car...different power..different size different price. if you like the grande punto abarth..take it with the essesse kit that give it 180 hp. the renault megane rs is powerfull but i don't like it. i would take the clio rs
I love this car. I ordered it and now I am witing, 6 weeks from now :-( Just sold my loved orange Grande Punto 1.4 16V. Abarth is in my heart. Any suggestion how to speed up time ? :-)
You'll love it, faster and faster as it gets run in. As much as I loved my Punto Sporting, as much I am bonding with this Grande Punto Abarth after a harsh winter in ice, snow and floods. The tyres disperse so much water, you don't realise that it rains. I really hope the time until you get it passes quickly.
ooh ahh, and did I say, some git in a 4 wheel drive came the opposite way in the water and asked me to slow down by waving furiously out of his window. how can I slow down in first gear in the water, ey? To drive in adverse weather you need a car, not a disease. It's a pride thing.
It swims well too. I have never been as scared as last night when I drove this new car of 6,400 miles into 30 cms of flooding for about 1.5 km and got out ok, Wow. I have defintely bonded with this car now. Snow - no problem, deep water - no issue, just check your brakes, ice - what the f.... I love this car. Gotta be Italian, as far as I am concerned.
I see these vehicles from Abarth and feel sad. I wish I could find a car like this offered in America. Maybe the 500 Abarth really will come in a few years, but that seems a long way off.
In America generation X and Y are really waking up to minis, an mini hot-hatches, which have always been my favorites. Any sporty mini would sell very well in U.S. these days. Come on Abarth.....bring it!
i'm guessing you don't get renault out there either? cause the megane 225 cup and clio 197 are amazing hot hatches, they'd certainly see a corvette off in the corners lol.
I have not yet met one car on the road which I could not match when I put my foot on the gas. And that is motorway and any country roads. There are certainly cars I can't match, but the drivers don't seem to know where the gas pedal is. On that note, I have a car at a reasonable price which is great fun to drive. I am seriously thinking about the EsseEsse kit now. Because I want to know what that's going to feel like.
Is there any after-market way to disengage the ESP? Have you searched about it. Cause you know i agree it may be the funniest of all gtis today but non-disengagable ESP makes thinking of other cars like 207 rc and Corsa OPC where ESP can be switched off. In standard abarth where the power is ok ESP is well-tuned and engages little but with so many power in esseesse kit ESP will engage so much more. And that's annoying. Also the esseesse kit costs much for me 4500+1000 for the work in greece...
Damn, I bought Citroen C4 for £12,300 (in pounds for comparison) only with 1.4L 90 bhp engine which struggles to move the car forward. I quickly realised that I should've bought 1.6vti 120 bhp engine but if I knew about Abarth Punto I wouldn't have hesitated and bought it. It's so affordable hot hatch. Incredible.
And it's winter worthy, I can tell you now. Can't get that fat grin off my face, with all those people getting stuck uphill in 2 inches of snow. So effing pathetic. Front wheel drive rules. No problem on ice and snow if you take it easy and keep cool.
This car rocks. I am glad I bought it. Autobahn: 220 kph without even noticing you're going that fast. Bendy country roads: kiss your 530D Goodbye. I let my boyfriend drive it once, his verdict: wow overtaking is a joy in this car. See you around.
I really like the abarth but i must say even the esseesse is really slow.Handling is great only because the car is slow.don't you agree that they should have made it a little faster?
Hmm what car is fast for you? Name to me 3. You think its slow because it has 7.7 sec from 0 to 100? If thats the reason i say ok i agree it could be better but the reprises pay you back
i'm afraid you don't understand what i'm trying to say. I really like this car and that's why i am really dissapointed that fiat and abarth decided not to try to match the clio rs,golf gti, cooper works,type-r category.i know it is much cheaper than these cars but this is part of the decision they made from the start. My proposition is leave the basic abarth as it is and strip the
esseesse from all the extra weight so that with the addition of 20hp (exhaust, chip, engine program} it can really damage the 200ps category...price it about 25 26 thousand euros...
oh, and did I say: I can't believe it's mine now and it does turn heads like nothing I've ever driven before and it goes like a rocket. Wow. It's parked in my drive way. See you on the road tomorrow. And it's got such grunt when you step on the gas. Drive, drive, drive.
Yes, I live in Europe, currently in the UK, but I drive to Germany a few times a year, this is where I am originally from and the Autobahn is what I miss most over here in the UK.
oooh, ahh, forgot to say I am going to take it on the Autobahn in 2 weeks time. Full throttle and full turbo. The speed limit in England sucks totally and utterly and I am always glad to go home. Autobahn, here I come.
Watch this space for top speeds and fun factor, which is already huge.
YES, I've got it and it rocks. It's a beast, beautiful, steady and gorgeous. Fat Pirellis, awesome power, overtaking is sooo much fun with this car. I love it already and it's only 3 days old with 300 miles on the clock. I raced a Porsche, for whoever's sake. LOL. I would love to turn off the traction control and see what it does without it. Not managed to power slide it yet.
Yay!!! And I finally found a use for this stupid iPod Nano I bought a couple of years back. Beam!!!!
Folks, I'll get mine in 1.5 weeks time and can't wait. I wanted this ever since I've heard rumblings of a Punto Abarth. My Fiats have never done me wrong. I have a Punto Sporting Mk2 at the moment and boast 210,000 km on a 1.2 l engine, first clutch, first everything, minor repairs, but now it's time to upgrade. I will have the first one sold in South England in Scorpion black. Love to Fiat and their great small cars which go like rockets and stick like velcro.
Ye about the head turning its true. Its because those kind of cars CAN be bought actually. Does it have good handling?? You have the esseesse version??
and then the abarth grande punto has got a little problem... the esp cannot be turned off.. and that's boring. but, the punto is bigger, it has got more space for passengers and for luggage, and so it is probably ore confortable. they're both very funny cars, and the choice you made is only a question of what you like more, because there isn't one worse, and the other better... i reccomende you to try both them and have soe fun. bye
abarth grande punto or renault clio rs? well, from the outside the grande punto is more flamboyant and more original, with all that red stripes and stickers. and then it offers you a very intersting thing, called boost button. you press it, and the torque is increased, the throttle response is improved. the clio doesn't have all that stripes who say "look at me", but it has 200 bhp under the bonnet, and an engine wich can afford up to 7500 rpm. so it is faster from 0 to 60 and faster flat out
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Well it's a Fiat, and that's not great... but... the chassis is equal to the Opel Corsa, it packs a 1.4ltr T-JET engine with 150hp (or 170 with sport pack), it's quite well designed and makes a great sound... so it might turn a bit of a surprise ;)
You do realize that Fiat's highest paid employee is Michael Schumacher, right? You probably also know that the Fiat Group owns; Alfa Romeo, Ferrari, Maserati and Lancia, and if you don't know how great Lancia is then don't post about Fiat.
And so? What does Lancia have to do with it? It's a Fiat, not a Lancia, altough in the same group it's like you're comparing a Veyron to a Golf just because VW owns Bugatti to...
I do know Lancia had some great cars, like the Aurelia, Fulvia, Delta, etc, just like fiat had the 124 Mirafiori, 127 Super, Uno Turbo IE but that doesn't save them from the bad image they have in build quality!
Yes the 1.3/1.9 diesel engines, but... taking the example of the Corsa CdTi/Punto M-jet, the Opel uses a diferent gearbox ratio and the ECU is made by Bosch and not M.Marelli, and there are more differences; by the way: I work at Opel and I never said the the Grande Punto is a bad car, I just metioned that the image Fiat has a car maker is not the best, and still, altought much better, they're still no mach for the germans/japanese in terms of build quality
Another thing (hasen't got anything to do with fiat):
- The Audi R8: Lamborghini Gallardo Chassis;
- The Morgan Aero8: BMW M5 engine;
- The Lotus Elise: Celica's 1.8VVTi powerplant
- The Ariel Atom: Honda KA20A engine
And still, a Lamborghini is a better supercar, the M5 is way better than the Aero8, the Elise kicks the hell out of the Celica, and the Atom... well, it's a diferent league.

and then the abarth grande punto has got a little problem... the esp cannot be turned off.. and that's boring. but, the punto is bigger, it has got more space for passengers and for luggage, and so it is probably ore confortable. they're both very funny cars, and the choice you made is only a question of what you like more, because there isn't one worse, and the other better... i reccomende you to try both them and have soe fun. bye

Ehm I own a Grande punto abarth, and believe me even on a circuit it's almost impossible to activate esp.
We made a test with Alessandro Piccolo, ex forumala 3000 racer, and he didn't have any problem with esp.
It's set in a way that it activates only on VERY Doungerous situation.
Anyway if you want to compete with a clioRS you must buy the SS version of abarth

abarth grande punto or renault clio rs? well, from the outside the grande punto is more flamboyant and more original, with all that red stripes and stickers. and then it offers you a very intersting thing, called boost button. you press it, and the torque is increased, the throttle response is improved. the clio doesn't have all that stripes who say "look at me", but it has 200 bhp under the bonnet, and an engine wich can afford up to 7500 rpm. so it is faster from 0 to 60 and faster flat out

renault is a shit , no offence :) , fiat has history , do you know that fiat in 1904 made a car with a 14.8 litre engine 5 pistons and 114 hp ?

Ennester19 3 years ago
bagiggia 3 years ago

Finally that damn scorpion shield will be on cars again.
Now, if they'd only invest more into Lancia again and maybe they'd have something going here.

Well it's a Fiat, and that's not great... but... the chassis is equal to the Opel Corsa, it packs a 1.4ltr T-JET engine with 150hp (or 170 with sport pack), it's quite well designed and makes a great sound... so it might turn a bit of a surprise ;)
GriffkinPT 4 years ago
You do realize that Fiat's highest paid employee is Michael Schumacher, right? You probably also know that the Fiat Group owns; Alfa Romeo, Ferrari, Maserati and Lancia, and if you don't know how great Lancia is then don't post about Fiat.
kisetsushin 4 years ago 2

To GriffkinPT :
The saab and opel uses fiat engines , is this enough for you ?
jag3rnaut 4 years ago 2
Yes the 1.3/1.9 diesel engines, but... taking the example of the Corsa CdTi/Punto M-jet, the Opel uses a diferent gearbox ratio and the ECU is made by Bosch and not M.Marelli, and there are more differences; by the way: I work at Opel and I never said the the Grande Punto is a bad car, I just metioned that the image Fiat has a car maker is not the best, and still, altought much better, they're still no mach for the germans/japanese in terms of build quality
GriffkinPT 4 years ago
Another thing (hasen't got anything to do with fiat):
- The Audi R8: Lamborghini Gallardo Chassis;
- The Morgan Aero8: BMW M5 engine;
- The Lotus Elise: Celica's 1.8VVTi powerplant
- The Ariel Atom: Honda KA20A engine
And still, a Lamborghini is a better supercar, the M5 is way better than the Aero8, the Elise kicks the hell out of the Celica, and the Atom... well, it's a diferent league.
GriffkinPT 4 years ago
actually i think you will find that fiat uses the GM engines for its diesel power

is the contrary
