It was NOT an Islamic festival. It was an ARAB cultural festival. Like it or not, all Arabs are not Muslim. And furthermore, this was on a public street, without an entrance fee, etc. So they had every right to be there. If Muslims ever got arrested under similar circumstances that was equally wrong. But I strongly doubt that Muslims who behaved in a similar (very peaceful) manner would get arrested at the cultural festival featuring the culture of some majority Christian country.

I'm not sure how the issue of protecting minorities is relevant here unless you are saying that Muslims should be protected of information that contradicts some of their beliefs. Perhaps you're saying something different. (Perhaps that part was only a more general statement without direct relevance to the video.) But in any case, shouldn't the definition of a minority depend on the situational context as well as the wider context? At the Arabfest, the Christians were the minority.

It's never been in question that there were charges made against them other than preaching the Gospel since that's not illegal in the US. The point is that they didn't actually commit the "crimes" that they're accused of. In their first video after the arrest they mentioned that someone falsely accused them of surrounding him (and the police didn't want to see the footage that refuted the charge). They've focused on other charges since that's what their critics have focused on.

@abdallahkroosh I live in Egypt, My neighbors are 6 Cristian families and we are all good to each other we attend each others ceremonies but they never tried to pull me to Christianity and i never tried to pull them to Islam. I work in a Canadian company and i have colleagues from different religions. One of them got interested in Islam, he came to Egypt and saw how Muslims are for real. So i answered his questions but i never asked him to become a Muslim. It is his decision his responsibility

Since we now agree that this was an Arab festival rather than Muslim festival, I don't see how you could argue that Muslims should have privileges there that Christians don't have. So at least that part of your point seems negated by the cultural rather than religious nature of this festival.

@dalkesaatbible I watched it, and it seemed to enforce that they were arrested without any reason to do so. All that video implied was that the video that did show negligent behavior was not shown. Than in that regard we cannot assume that there is such video unless some clue is given that there is. If we say there is we are riding on assumptions only, and not facts.

@abdallahkroosh - Handing out tracts is not "forcing" anyone to do anything. It is merely offering them information. Forcing someone is more like offering them something like a Qur'an and then filing a discrimination lawsuit against them when they politely reject it, as was the case with Muslims in Oklahoma that attempted to force Islam on our lawmakers.
@abdallahkroosh I attended a Christian church that was having a week long study of Islam. this was publicized in mailings to the public. Some Islamic people attended the event for the first few days that I saw and they weren't escorted out but instead were embraced in full gladness. In that church is a fair amount of former Muslims who have converted. So in these situations in Dearborn it appears there does exist a double standard.

It was NOT an Islamic festival. It was an ARAB cultural festival. Like it or not, all Arabs are not Muslim. And furthermore, this was on a public street, without an entrance fee, etc. So they had every right to be there. If Muslims ever got arrested under similar circumstances that was equally wrong. But I strongly doubt that Muslims who behaved in a similar (very peaceful) manner would get arrested at the cultural festival featuring the culture of some majority Christian country.

I'm not sure how the issue of protecting minorities is relevant here unless you are saying that Muslims should be protected of information that contradicts some of their beliefs. Perhaps you're saying something different. (Perhaps that part was only a more general statement without direct relevance to the video.) But in any case, shouldn't the definition of a minority depend on the situational context as well as the wider context? At the Arabfest, the Christians were the minority.

It's never been in question that there were charges made against them other than preaching the Gospel since that's not illegal in the US. The point is that they didn't actually commit the "crimes" that they're accused of. In their first video after the arrest they mentioned that someone falsely accused them of surrounding him (and the police didn't want to see the footage that refuted the charge). They've focused on other charges since that's what their critics have focused on.

But still, the things that separate Ahmadis from Sunni or Shia Muslims are from an outsider's perspective relatively minor. Don't Ahmadis accept all of the five pillars of Islam for example?

If we disagree about the history or true identity of Jesus, that is another story. But we all love him. You say from the looks of the festival you could tell that Muslims hate Jesus, well i can't see any man with a sign written on it we hate Jesus. I assume that the terms of entering the festival allowed for opposing sides to set up booths and distribute literature both at a booth and while walking around. Just to clarify could you post or link to the contract (if such a contract exists) so we can see what, prior to all this, the terms were. Praying for All parties involved...

@abdallahkroosh i do see muslims around here whom i love too, the Lord loves muslims and wants to save them but i would not call the cops for passing flyers, if i was to feel that threatened in my Christianty, it would be because i would not trust my God enough, in my faith, once i am saved, i am saved forever and i get to know the power of God, if i love muslims, i am able to let them be but also want them to be saved, if some fear Christians with flyers, it says they are insecure in faith

@Serge1965 First, We will never know what really happened out there, they say that their cameras were rolling, but i don't see these cameras showing all what they claim. and we don't know what was written in these fliers. I am not asking for you to save me, it is my responsibility to look for the true religion then decide. and as long as i don't harm any one, you should let me be. If accept your fliers, then it means that i admit to my self that i have doubt in my religion which i don't.

@abdallahkroosh I live in Egypt, My neighbors are 6 Cristian families and we are all good to each other we attend each others ceremonies but they never tried to pull me to Christianity and i never tried to pull them to Islam. I work in a Canadian company and i have colleagues from different religions. One of them got interested in Islam, he came to Egypt and saw how Muslims are for real. So i answered his questions but i never asked him to become a Muslim. It is his decision his responsibility

So when ever i go to an Islamic festival, i want to meet other Muslims to learn more about my Religion. and if some Muslims try to spread Islam through Cristian Festivals, then the will be wrong and impolite. you may ask people to your religion but you may not force them to.

It is an ISLAMIC festival. and you were given the freedom of showing your ideas there to those who may be interested. as for other Muslims spreading Flyers about Islam, It's there right and what people came to that place for. If i am a Muslim and i wanna know about islam i would go to a Cristian fistival

Since we now agree that this was an Arab festival rather than Muslim festival, I don't see how you could argue that Muslims should have privileges there that Christians don't have. So at least that part of your point seems negated by the cultural rather than religious nature of this festival.

@dalkesaatbible I watched it, and it seemed to enforce that they were arrested without any reason to do so. All that video implied was that the video that did show negligent behavior was not shown. Than in that regard we cannot assume that there is such video unless some clue is given that there is. If we say there is we are riding on assumptions only, and not facts.

@abdallahkroosh - Handing out tracts is not "forcing" anyone to do anything. It is merely offering them information. Forcing someone is more like offering them something like a Qur'an and then filing a discrimination lawsuit against them when they politely reject it, as was the case with Muslims in Oklahoma that attempted to force Islam on our lawmakers.

@abdallahkroosh I attended a Christian church that was having a week long study of Islam. this was publicized in mailings to the public. Some Islamic people attended the event for the first few days that I saw and they weren't escorted out but instead were embraced in full gladness. In that church is a fair amount of former Muslims who have converted. So in these situations in Dearborn it appears there does exist a double standard.

@abdallahkroosh I wasn't there but what troubles me is that it's become unlawful for Christians to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ then that means all religions will soon lose the liberty of free speech and that means muslims will be next and even atheists. Now that said, these guys or me are not saviors, Jesus Christ is according to the Bible and i trust that you are seeking the truth on your own and i will sure let you be but if i happen to spread the truth, unless i preach, u will not hear

@amkroosh Dear amkroosh, i see noble ways in you as i’m sure my Christian brethren see the same in you, what we preach is not from ourselves and the message is not a popular one in this fallen world where we are taught to not disturb but the message of Christ Jesus makes it clear that in order to get to the Father, one must go through Him in personal relationship, the way is reduced to that narrow road so that it becomes easier to be saved. it is not me versus you or Christians vs muslims cted

@Serge1965 We should have more forums where the Word is presented in comparison in full light. it seems that public dialogue is stifled in this regard. Every time such dialogue is presented, a mob tries to hinder it, than complaints arise to make false arrests. If Muslims really have faith they should invite Nareed to the event fully videoed and make a public debate of it. In this way we expose truth in full light for all to see.

@runeoner You're right. We need more than Luke's testimony to believe that festival workers would harass a Christian or tell him to stop distributing tracts. It's not like eight police officers surrounded us for handing out Gospels outside of the festival. It's not like festival security assaulted us last year. It's not like police arrested us for no reason and then lied about us. Yes, one would have to be stupid indeed to believe Luke's testimony that they stopped him from handing things out.
