@maumau1968 my parents were investors in an indie book and record store, and this so brings back those days of hanging out with the best, coolest, most interesting staff in the history of the world. They shaped my tastes in so many ways...great memories!
@maumau1968 : you recognize it probably... i used all my money to buy records from Echo & the Bunnyman, The Smiths, The Cure, Style Council, and more obscure like; the exploited, or sugarcubes...and wandering around at pop festivals like 'pinkpop' or Werchter (belgium) where i bought bootleg records and picture disks...those were the days
@PlanetMother Ah yes, those were the days. I find it hard to get enthusiastic for most of today's music. Like some of it , the dancey R&B but my first love is 80s pop, 80s alternative, 80s R&B, 80s rock, 80s new wave. Whenever I hear good 80s music I can remember where I was - what pub, disco etc. Getting more nostalgic the older I get.
@maumau1968 ... agree, a bit. but if you search on YT there is enough GOOD music to b enthus about...all those winers about 'yesterdays music' ...i just don't buy it annymore!
Tracy Chapman makes wonderful music, Paul McCartney still going strong...and why not open your heart and ears for that unknown balkan music group as well??? It depends on you if your still stuck in yesterday or look/listen open minded to the music of today. b t w, "Grease' in the 70s was horrific too, see...
@PlanetMother Yeah, I still enjoy the old school too. But in talking about world music have you come across the band "La Exelencia"? They are a Salsa Dura band from New York. Wonderful music. I can't wait til they come back over here so can go see them.
@maumau1968 you're absolutely right on that one...La Exelencia makes you feel party all day long...and makes up - a bit- for that long, rainy summer we had here.Makes you wonder why we're still stuck with fake rock from 'anouk' while La Exelencia would do GREAT on festivals here!!!!
@PlanetMother I think they've done Glastonbury on one of the smaller stages (think it was Glastonbury) 2 years ago but they deserve big exposure over here. Simply love them. I even work out to their music.
muito lindo....
