May be a stupid question, but i'm thinking about getting an 00 Golf 1.8t. The guy says it's a GTi though... i thought they had the VR6. Or am i wrong? Thanks for any help :)
@MIA7Xthies 4th generation GTI's(1999-2005) come in 3 different engine types: a 1.8L turbocharged 4 cyl engine, a 2.8L VR6 engine, and, if you can find one, the high-end GTI R32 comes with a 3.2L VR6 engine w/4 motion AWD.
@BryanHectic do you lot get the 1.8 20v non turbo over in the states? and what about the 2.0 8V? I know they are not worth talking about its just they are classed as gti's over here in the UK. shitty motors with a high insurance premium is all i can see
@rzorNvme their realiable if taken care of properly but there is slight bumps on the road of its life, many times the cooling pump, cooling sensor, and unfortanantly transmissions seem to go between the 80k-110k mile range, but once your over the hump these things run forever, you might even get lucky have no issues, its best just to learn as much as you can about them and keep your oil changes on schedule. extremely fun cars, just dont buy automatic or you ll get bored
the Dahlback GTI?? Thing is sick... I have a dahlback diverter valve and intake mani... getting their chip tuning soon (heard its one of the rawest tunes out there)
