the 91' superbowl and this national anthem are the two best national anthems I have ever heard!!! if you haven't heard the 91 national anthem you should go listen to it!!!!
I saw this before... and the video went missing so I had to find it again. This is without a doubt... the absolute best, most touching/emotional, just all around too good for words to describe rendition of the National Anthem. It was just... wow. Wow. Wow.
I'm from Canada, but I was affected and horrified by the events of 9/11. They haunted me for days after. Ten years on, I tillr emember that day. This gave me chills. Thanks for posting.
I was in 2nd grade when this horrible tragedy happened. Now I'm a senior. Hard to believe it's been 10 long years. Sadly I really don't remember my life before 9/11. And people can deny this all they want but the truth is that this tragic event changed the entire world
i was there live. emotional and amazing show...rock vs austin at the end for the dark match. thank you wwe...and all those who sacrificed there lives on 9/11. you will never be forgotten...
@l3tha1ca1ib3r I AM IMPRESSED!!!! Sorry to sound crass, but a lot of the female stars in pro wrasslin these days act all skanky! This was a change for the better. In the midst of tragedy, class shows itself bright!
@mattbad2008 you should also watch her recent singing of the anthem in may 2011. I think there is a video posted on youtube. She still has got it. A great voice indeed.
@kinli1 She is former WWF/E Womens Champion Debra, she used to be married to Steve Austin in real life. Also if you watch further into the video you can see that she has one of the little US flags that some of the other superstars had too.
I saw this when it aired. Lillian absolutely hit it out of the fucking park. I also remember the pointed emphasis on "our flag WAS STILL THERE!" like a middle finger to the terrorists.
Those who downed her performance need to have some damn respect. Can you even remotely imagine how difficult it was with all of the emotion Lillian was feeling to get out there and sing in front of our nation. It gives me goosebumps every time I go to an event and hear The National Anthem sang while looking at my husband and our brave troops who put their lives on the line everyday so that you can have the right to say what you think!
it's moments like this i love most of all. when everyone unites like this and the show is forgotten and respect is shown by everyone no matter face or heel. THE best moment in Smackdown
I remember this so vividly i was so young and that was the moment that the USA gained the respect that I still give them today...I respect the USA so much and as a Northern Irish girl i think that is an excellent thing to feel for them..
i don't know how anyone can say this rendition sucks. i almost had a goosebumps attack when she elongated "that our flag was STILL THERE!!!!!!" unbelievable
I think next year the WWE should do another tribute show to 9/11 and then release both this one and that one in their entirety on DVD. I'd love to see that!!
The most important episode of pro-wrestling ever. I know someone who attended that show and he told me there was not *one* dry eye in the house. Very powerful and something that cannot be forgotten.
God Bless America
