Superb stuff - could I ask if a Ventures fan could tell me the names of some of the tracks played near the start. In particular the one at about 1 min 33 secs - what a great sound. Also 40 secs, 54 sec, 1.19 and 1.54 if possible. Thanks.
well, JCF used to diss on "surf music" and stratocasters big time. see his guitar mag interview in 85. He changes his tune every day of the week on Creedence but has never had a hit as big as in CCR days. Coz he fails to forgive himself and his buddies for mistakes. His and theirs.
John please do as you say, be happy and give CCR one more shot. Remember what your Mom said. Care for the people.
Este es un verdadero tributo a The Ventures por tantos años de esfuerzo y dedicacion a la musica instrumental, felicidades a todos por su aportacion musical, son un ejemplo a seguir.
Long life to the Ventures they shoulda have been inducted every years to that rock hall of fame my opinion always had great cover and original songs and all the best guitar player like Nokie Edwards Gerry McGee Bob Spalding Bob Bogle Don wilson and of course Leon and Mel Taylor on drums I forget few but well they're my heroes!!!! I give em 1000x of stars
I saw a recent photo of Fogerty for his new album. His hair is dyed red ,young person red he's had lots of plastic surgery. he looks like Howdy Doody. Pompas ass.
yeah i think so too!the other ex-members of CCrevival were only jealous of him...and when they found out that they were not able to write songs as good as john(look at the mardi grass album)they were pissed and said that his solo albums suck, even if they weren't listening to them!!! so what häää :P
Well the first all instrumental ( no vocal ) band. But also it was in that special format that became R&R, 1 rhythm guitar, 1 lead guitar, 1 drum and 1 bass guitar...Beatles, C.C.R. and so many other bands, followed that kind of formation...They were the best there is... Including the shadows and other instrumental combos...So yes they were the first all guitar band in that sense
For most of his career Buddy Holly, was playing as a trio with the crickets.
But again, they were not an instrumental combo, He was singing his songs..Hey I am not trying to put him down here. I love Buddy Holly. What he did was great. But he was doin' mostly songs with vocal. The Ventures were mostly instrumental (some real fans will say, the Ventures sang too, on tour they would sing few songs.Don Wilson did runaway really well .But they were knowns as an instrumental group.
I think they were a HUGE groundbreaking band. I dig the heck out of them, and love them! I absolutely love instrumental bands of that time and they were certainly the cream of the crop! I was very happy to see they finally got into the hall!
stu cook & doug clifford are two bottom feeders. they knew they were shit without fogerty,so they went for the money. and still today they are earning a living off fogertys songs. why dont they try to make there own record? because they cant.
with Creedence Clearwater Revisited ( talking about a cover/tribute band....for me anyway..You don't see Ringo singing Can't buy me love or Something...He does the song they wrote for him....So honestly Who is taking advantage of who here.......They must a have some input on John's Fogerty song...But they are just a cover band......with C.C. Revisited
well lets see do u know why that "ass hole" denied them of that it was because that when john was having trouble aggreeing with the record company they were basicly tellhing the company how to hurt him, they betrayed him and after thirty some odd years they finally got inducted into the hall of fame john basicly said fuck you to them and went up on stage and played the songs that he worte and that he produced all of those years so if u wanna criticize him get your fuckin facts straight

CCR was inducted on their first chance, after 25 years. The band was inducted, not just one
guy. John has had a lot of troubles over the years. He is still obsessed about how he got screwed by "everyone" in the Guitar Player interview a month or so ago. He also claims he is over all of that now. If so, why does he still whine about it? He just won't admit he blew it and caused the problems himself as the business manager for CCR. Get your fucking facts straight if you want to support him.

One of the very first songs that I did in a rock band back in 1960 was Walk Don't Run. We cut our teeth on Ventures learning and adding at least 15 of their songs to our set list. Their music was quite challenging to us to "get it right", like they played it but we did it and people loved it. And there were many cudos and adulations from other musicians in the crowd at venues all over our area. God Bless them all!
I met the Ventures in 1967 at my college when I was the DJ that went back stage for the radio station....we all had collarless coats and I had the skinny tie....and then we meet again 25 years later and we all put on some weight and I brought the photo with me to sign...they sure got a chuckle about the change....they are the best instrumental band of all time....and I have about 100 of their LPs and cds.....they were the nicest bunch of guys I ever met in my many trips backstage.
The ventures rock!!!! My grandpa is Don Wilson!!! Well soon to be grandpa. He's so awsome. He's the best. He's not like those stuck up famous people. He's just like a regular person.
I'm honored to hear from you...Yes, Don is a great guy. In fact, all The Ventures are fantastic, regular people. That's one of the things that makes this all the more special. They've really deserved it!
Well great for you to have in your family what I call 'a great personna' of rock and roll music. He's part of the R&R legacy that got most of us,older musicians, into playing guitars and drums....For us they were GODS.
but also because they were REAL, ACCESSIBLE,
DOWN TO EARTH, EXTREMELY TALENTED, HUMAN, NOT FULL OF S... LIKE SOME OF THOSE ''LOOK AT ME I AM A GREAT ARTIST TYPE'' they were and still are a great influence to have. Give my regards to your grand father for me....And Thank you.
@Calie2007 I am huge Ventures fan, have seen them several times and have dozens of their albums. I was always curious if the original members became wealthy from their music.

Creedence Clearwater Rivival "Suzie Q".

The band I was in did a demo at the Fantasy Records studio in San Francisco at the time.
We were given 45 singles of a new group called the "golliwogs." Thats what "Credence" called themselves before the name change.

Nope, Buddy Holly had a lead player, and he often played rhythm. They simply weren't the first.

Classy band and induction, something the asshole John Fogerty denied the other guys in Creedence when they were inducted.
