@cyborgmonkey007 you cant eat anything hard like carrots or apples . And dont drink too many colored drinks espacially if you have clear bands . Try not to chew gum or eat anything sticky . Hope this helps !

@CoolCoccojones the braces themselves aren't changed (the brackets) all they do to tighten them is they take the wire out and replace it with a less thick wire if that makes sense  and if you want your color changed they'll allow you to do that. All the color is just a rubber band that they put on the bracket :)

@fantageneon Hi fantageneon! It sounds like there is a lot of correction for your bite. It would be impossible for me to know how long your treatment will be since I haven't seen you personally. The best person to ask is your orthodontist. They should be able to give you an estimated time for your treatment. This will be an estimate only, and your treatment could be longer or shorter than that estimate. Orthodontists get asked all the time when treatment wil be done. :) --Dr. Bergh

The best thing to do is make an appointment with an orthodontist in your area to discuss your needs and desires for a great and healthy smile. @brianberghdds The only bad thing is I have not seen a dentist in 4 years i think . No one will take my med card. So I'm stuck with no dentist but I seen a orthodontist and she said she will not see me to do anything else, but she says my teeth need braces but my card does not cover them. Any idea where I could find a cheap place who does braces? we have little money. so thats why i still dont have them fixed

@mel2able It will depend on the office. If they have colored ties, then you should be able to have them on your first visit. Some offices may only provide the silver ties, but that is unusual. --Dr. Bergh

@yalunsukfen Hi! You're mouth shouldn't look much different than it does now, but it may feel a lot different. With the braces on the outside of the teeth, it does add a little thickness to the teeth and the feel against your lips. That feeling will go away within a few days as you get used to your new braces. Hope this helps -- Dr. Bergh

@brittanyluvsfashion Dear brittanyluvsfashion. There are some types of braces that don't use colors, these are called self-ligating bracket, like the Damon bracket. You're orthodontist may be using this type of bracket.

@TheresasMusic1 Definitely by around age 12. Sometimes earlier treatment at age 8-9 can be helpful. People can have braces at any age. Our oldest orthodontic patient will be turning 91 soon.

@purple12c They don't hurt as they put them on your teeth, but your teeth will hurt for a few days after you get them on because your teeth are not used to being tightened.

are you able to ask your orthodonist to put braces on bottom even if you don't need them or will it mess up the teeth....p.s. i'm getting braces but just for the top and want them on the bottom because i think just getting braces in the top is going to change the whole look of my mouth...please reply

@MusicLoverxoxox100 Somtimes braces on only the upper teeth or only the lower teeth is fine. Your orthodontist can guide you in what will work best to accomplish your goals and also create a healthy bite.

@MusicLoverxoxox100 In my opinion, you probably don't want bottom ones.. I had top ones first and later on they put on bottom ones and they hurt for weeks.. And they also make your bottom lip stick out and it looks funny but the top ones don't do anything like that... Lol. And I don't think they will put them on if you just ask them to unless there is a reasong that they NEED to be there.. But some orthos are different.. Good luck!
