Don't forget at the end of the movie, after magneto has been stabbed with more than one syringe containing the cure, he manages to get his abilities back, I think they say the cure didn't work. And its not because magento has been a mutant for so long, because Mystique is not just a shape shifter, she also does not age, and has heightened agility etc.
