  • As a chemist, I know the secret to how all of this works =]

  • @bodinian As a non-chemist, I couldn't give a rat's ass how it works =]

  • If electrolysis creates Hydrogen, couldn't there be a system developed to use water to fuel vehicles with hydrogen gas?

  • @Hexake it would take close to 20 years to accumulate a flammable level of hydrogen in that bathroom with the low level of current being used. Splitting H2O on the large scale is done with high current high voltage processes.

  • great vid thank you

  • IT'S PICKLES!!!! 1:40!!!! Metalocalypse FTW!!!!

  • Strike tank... i used too lov setting off the gas.. its cool how the flame go's back an forth then boom.. made peole jump in the plateing shop.. lol.

  • spray some wd-40 on the peice after you are finished. this will prevent it from rusting again.

  • Something SPECIALL!! for me?!?! awwwhhhhhh

  • 1:40 its PICKLES

  • Boy, your moms gonna kick your ass when she sees you're doing this in the bathroom instead of the garage.

  • Once again, You can find ANYTHING on YouTube.

  • use washing soda, or bake your baking soda at 425F for about 45mins to make washing soda.

  • This is pretty cool! I'm trying it on some rusty tools right now.

  • you should use soda wash instead. buy it or bake the basking soda in over @400 degrees for 1 hr

  • @1954corvan You can also reverse Anodize which takes rust and tarnish off with Baking soda aluminum and water, you can also use copper if you stimulate with electricity, it's reverse electrolysis

  • You realize that this is actually called anodizing

  • @wmcallis1 no........ anodizeing is putting that protective layer on aluminum and other metals to protect it from the elements

  • @Hexake good thing i'm doing small scale...

  • You want to use Washing Soda, not baking soda. There is a difference!

  • I'm gonna do this to the entire underside of my car!

  • cut ur nails ? O_O

  • Great, but one thing to watch out for is not to let the battery clips touch the water, only immerse the metal you are de-rusting. Doing this will make the process efficient and ensure that no other unwanted effects are achieved.

  • @thisismyytname positive yes negative it doesn't matter

  • Interesting can this be used on tools that got winter abuse and have rust on em??!?!!? i got one massive wrench that got winter abuse and has rust on it

  • @walkingfreak if you want to...

but but if your wrench is plated like most are a minute with a wire brush should be all you need to do.

  • Great !!

I`m gonna use this sistem on my ipod...

  • draino may work well too.

  • i need to de rust my boat!

  • Are we not defeating the whole concept of a Rat Rod by removing the rust ?

    Lets see your rat rod.

  • 1. it was the only thing i had

    2. who said i was gonna paint them

    3. when installed you can't even see it

  • a table spoon of what ? Sorry my mother tongue aint english and I need that technique

  • sodium carbonate aka baking soda

  • kay thanks a lot !

  • It is cool. I use the same basic procedure for precious metal recovery. If you use HCL (drain cleaner) instead of baking soda you will get results much faster. But, you will need to be very careful as it will release toxic gas and the reaction is much faster.....so you will want to keep a close eye on it to make sure the part is not getting eaten.

  • very useful to know.would be nice to have an update on the rat rod, hows it coming along?

  • well it still out in wyoming i'm gonna pick it up this spring and start working on it again

  • use salt water or Sulfuric acid. much more conductive and much more effective. :P

  • Awesome! good to know, thanks for the info!
