  • I HATE THE HIGH F IN THUS ARIA!! It's become more of stunt trick than an actual musical reflection of human expression! Ewwww >:\

  • Any lover of opera can tell that this was a magnificant production.

  • celso albelo sing the high F without falsetto. I have sung this opera with him.

Juan diego, in this video, don't a hight Fa, he is singin a high Re

  • alex: tell me a tenor today who can sing the high F without falsetto. perhaps the opera should be ignored until we have someone who can satisfy you?

  • @saagua1953 I believe there are a few tenors who were able to do this. Gedda and Albelo comes into mind. Oh and Brownlee too.

  • I agree with Solobelcanto. His voice may be better for buffa-roles or for Il duce di Mantua...

  • He is wise to avoid the high F. No tenor today can do it without sounding as if someone had pinched his balls making him let out a scream. Better a lower note well produced.

  • @saagua1953 in order to take this role you must be able to do contra fa. otherwise dont do it at all.that is just my opinion..

  • @saagua1953 How else are you suppose a tenor could hit the high F without sounding as if someone pinched his balls?

Bottom line: gotta have the vocal range, as well as the balls, to sing what the composer himself wrote.

Emecé, El Diario Vasco, 29 May 2008

  • It is not a high F! It is only a high C#. Despite that

    it sounds very good

  • Masterful as usual. Shame about the high F, but he would have sung it in Falsetto, so no big loss.

  • The best Arturo I've ever heard.

    Bravissimo.

  • Sorry, but he sounds absolutely NOTHING like this in person. It is a sham.

  • You are ABSOLUTELY CORRECT. He sounds even better in person. That is if you know anything at all about "Bel Canto". For those of you who don't know it means "BEAUTIFUL SINGING" When these operas were written they didn't go around town looking for actors!

  • he sounds absolutely wonderful in person, just heard him in Vienna ... several times ...

  • Technically masterful by Florez.

  • Nice! I don't speak Italian and I'm not familiar with the story of this opera, but you can totally tell what's going on just by the music. That's one of the things I love about opera! And Juan Diego is awesome of course.

  • No high F! Oh well...
