Thank you so very much for doing this video. Now I can do looks that I love since I know how to show the illusion of having not such close together and hooded . I ended up with a double wammy...lol
I love my hooded eyes, they're a little squinty and I think it's cute. But, it is really hard to figure out any dramatic eye stuff, I always look like a clown. lol. And with regular stuff, you can't really tell I'm wearing eye makeup at all.
I don't think that Paris Hilton or Madonna have hooded eyes. I have hooded eyes since always and mine don't look like theirs, mine look more like Blake Lively's or Renée Zellweger's.
Hello, I like your video and I have to say I honestly never heard of Hooded Lids before you described it. That being said like someone else stated... I have pretty much no visible area above my eye except the space above the crease and below the brow, and even that space is very small. when my face is in a natural "form" my eye lashes actually lay against that part of my skin.. I've had my brows waxed many times to try and make that space bigger. Doesn't help a lot... Don't know what to do!
i dont really know how to do make up and i looked at ur vid because i have a bit of a hooded eye and i must say ....u know ur stuff ...it looks soooo goood im vex i did it on a night that im home ...lol.... i wanna go out with it.....lol ....thanks so much
I love your corrective make-up videos. You are very welcome to come to Amsterdam and use me as a model for hooded eyes and *some* other imperfections. I tried this look today and my eyes do look more open. Can hooded eyes be corrected with surgery if you have them "naturally" and not because of ageing?
putting more than one color on my lid makes my eyes look really short and small, even a midtone color and a light color. I almost always have to either use the midtone or the light color all over the lid otherwise my hooded eyes look funny, since the lid is small and ive darkened the outer corner
Hi! thanks for the awesome videoes I still can't quite figure out what my face shape and eye shape is. The only thing I know for sure is that my eyes are a little close-set and i think I have an oval face but I'm pretty much lost :P Could I send you a picture or something? I don't have videoes on youtube :)
ive ALWAYS wanted a normal crease... :-( my eyes are quite odd & unusual & so hard to figure out...they are a sort of asian/native american mix (im black & cherokee); they have a LOW weak crease right near the lashline & a puffy upper lid that puffs outward...i cant figure how to do anything with them...im gonna try this method i hope it works
I've had hooded eyes since I was born. I am 17. It really sucks, cuz whenever I put the liquid eyeliner, when I open my eyes, some pieces of it remain above my eye-.- Thanks for the tutorial. It really looks good :D
Thank you so much this has really helped me, Im 16 and whenever I have done eye makeup it just always looks stupid! I've just realised that I have hooded eyes and my eyes match your description perfectlet My eyes do look quite old and wrinkly and always have, im excited to try this out and hopefully my eyeshadow will look okay! so thank you xo
Yeah, I'm 21 now and my eyes have always been hooded. It used to bother me that I could never see any eyeshadow that I put on, but on me it seems to be mostly caused by my bone structure, so I've stopped caring because its not like I can change that.
my eyes are wide set, protruding, almond shaped AND HOODED!! im only 19 and my eyes arent saggy and old but i keep hearing hooded eyes always talked about in a negative way...does that mean my hooded eyes are ugly??? T-T
@ChiChiChaChiax3 NO NO its not ugly , it just means its a little harder to pull off the makeup. ive got hooded eyes and i used to hate them but u just have to know how to do the makeup. Hope this helps xoxoxo ps. im only 18 so my eyes also rnt old and saggy lol
Lol, you think that's bad? I'm 23 and i've had terrible hooded eyes all my life! You can't see my eyelid at all and it pushes down on my eye so much that my eyes look terrible. Over the years i've developed a habit of keeping my eyebrows lifted to make it look just that bit more normal.. I love eyeshadows, but in reality i sit and wonder is there any point in me wearing it lol
I have a similar problem. I can see my lashes, but my lids are hooded it's literally like a flap of skin that covers the bottom of my lid. And I don't have much room at all from my lashes to my brow. I've had it my whole life. I'm 31. It's very annoying because I can't do makeup with "the crease" look at all and never have been able to.
Fantastic video jasmine! (It's taking me a bit to go through all your videos but it's sooo worth it :D) I do have hooded eyes, and I'm often told that I looked more made up when I'm actually wearing almost no eyeshadow...I'm trying this tomorrow! Thanks beautiful!
thankyou for such great tips.. im 18 and i have had hooded eyes all my life. it really sucks not being able to wear bright colours above my crease coz it makes me look a bit like a drag queen.. i cant wait to try this out on myself.. : )
I feel your pain.. I really do. I tried everything and also look like a drag queen/clown. I just apply a nice pink and hope for the best lol (even though you can't see it when my eyes are open).
You're such a great teacher.........this is a great video, and the colors look beautiful on you.......at 60, my eyes have hooded, and I can't wait to try this! xoxo
This is a great tutorial.....I never thought of taking the eyeshadow above the crease....and don't think anyone else has mentioned it! Thanks so much....
I'm 24 and I also was born with hooded eyes. I think I have one the most hooded eyes, because my eyelid is very hidden, it doesn't show at all. This is pretty annoying, but what can we do? Nothing, we just have to love our eyes as they are.
thanks for this, I have hated my eye shape forever but will try this technique. I also have eyebrows very close to eye as well tho hope there is enough room! AND not much for eyelashes.
Also love the fact you support only cruelty free products. In this day and age there is no excuse not to support those companies!
YES!! i have hooded eyes and no one every does makeup i can do. ]: i'm white though, and my eyes aren't really asian, so they don't work either. blahh. thanks so much though.
thanks! this was really helpful! I have enourmous round eyes, and they looked strange after the make up, and I've discovered why! I have this hooded eyes.. now I have a solution! (how can I make them look a bit smaller? or less rounded? xoxo
You are a beautiful lady with gorgeous eyes! This is a very helpful series, thank you for helping all of us out here enhance our natural beauty instead of hiding it!
Jasmine, wanted to send you a pic of myself and was hoping you can give me a head start on some basics for how I should put my makeup on, what colors are best etc...how can I do this privately?
Thank-you so much for doing this video, I have been trying for so long to realise why all the eye make-up looks I was doing never seemed to look the same as the tutorials. I now know its because I have large round close together hooded eyes. I think its a genetic thing not age as i'm only 27 and ppl say i look so young all the time. Anyway I just wanted to thank you so much because hopefully now i will know how to bring out the beauty in my own eyes instead of trying to look like someone else xx
I have hooded eyes, but my eyebrows are also really "low," I guess. There just isn't a lot of space between the space where my "hooded crease" would be and the bottom of my eyebrows. I think it looks silly to apply an eyeshadow all the way up to my eyebrows just for the crease color to show when my eyes are open. :( Am I just not meant to use a crease color at all? Or is there a way to fix this? Should I just pluck my eyebrows super thin from the bottom to create more space?
You should take a base colour all the way up to the eyelid, something light to open the eyes. Only a tiny amount of crease colour is needed to give your eyes definition.
HI, that's a lovely tutorial. I'm 30 and I've always had very strong hooded eyes, a bit like Claudia Schiffer or Giselle Bundchen. But when I try to use khole pencil (which I love very much because of the soft look it gives), it always vanishes from where I put it and prints into the "hood", which looks ugly. What can I do? I tried using primer, powder over the pencil, everything, but nothing keeps the eye pencil on the lashline.
I love you! THANK YOU SO MUCH!! This makes total sense now. I shall try this tomorrow, and, if I get it right, I will email you a photo or vid of the look. Thanks again, so very much!!
Thanks so much for taking the time to explain tips based on eye shapes. Most of the info out there is about looks not shapes. I've stuck with the same look for years because I wasn't really sure how to translate the crease instructions to my eyes. You've given me the confidence to experiment.
This was really awesome. No one has ever explained what a hooded eye was before -- magazines never say anything about a hooded eye. This really helped.
One thing I found that helped even more (which wouldn't have been applicable for you because your eyes are quite large), was making a more rounded line with the dark color, coming down to meet the outer corner of the eye.
oh my god!! this really works!! ive been trying to find a way in which to do my makeup to suit my eyes and this is perfect!! thank you sooooooooo very much!!
Thanks a lot for this tutorial! For ages I couldn't put my finger on why all efforts at shadow disappeared the moment I stepped back to take a look at the results. Now I realise I have a combo of hooded and small, round eyes. I'll give this techinique a go as soon as can!
This does work and I thank you for including a light color on the inside top lid. I've been using light shades there to open the eye but I resisted the dark on the hooded part because I didn't want to look like I was trying too hard to create something that isn't there. However, it turns out to be a wonderful contour illusion that isn't harsh or ridiculous when properly blended.
thanks a lot for this! I never realized my eyes were hooded till this. I mixed this technique with the small eyes technique and it worked like a charm! I've been searching for a tutorial to make my eyes look bigger for a while now.
Thank you so much for sharing this video. I am 57 and have the problem you describe in this video. I have been frustrated because I cannot recreate some of the looks on the makeup tutorials. I am anxious to try your technique tomorrow morning. Thank you for showing us a good option.
Well hon, your gorgeous eyes are slightly wide apart and slightly hooded, so try a few of the techniques and see what works for you. Definitely take your darker shade above the crease a bit more and see how that helps.
Gillian Anderson-I haven't seen her in forever. You certainly know your celebs huh? =D
Well...who else are we supposed to compare ourselves with?
I also wondered why I always had to add more color higher up on my crease (more above)---something just didn't look right if I didn't. Now I know...thanks!
No I have to check to see how widely spaced they are.
I'm so glad you pointed that out - someone young whose hooded eyes are seen as beautiful by the general public. I'm off to watch some Britney eye make up videos now. :)
This was made for me! I naturally have hooded eyes and I'm 38, so they are starting to get worse--it happens! Thank you for doing this--it helps! Lisa
girli, you are so beautiful ... your eyes are just TOO beautiful. thank you for this tutorial. I have hooded eyelids too so this is VERY helpful ! mwah x

Thanks a lot for this tutorial! For ages I couldn't put my finger on why all efforts at shadow disappeared the moment I stepped back to take a look at the results. Now I realise I have a combo of hooded and small, round eyes. I'll give this techinique a go as soon as can!
Thanks!

I'm still not sure which eye shape(s) I am...any ideas?! x x x

Well hon, your gorgeous eyes are slightly wide apart and slightly hooded, so try a few of the techniques and see what works for you. Definitely take your darker shade above the crease a bit more and see how that helps.

I think this one sums it up for me. you can see my eyes in one of my slideshow videos. I have this lid problem.
Would britney spears fall under this one too? I just want to make sure I understand. I notice her eyeshape goes down like you were demonstrating.

Your eyes remind me very much of Gillian Anderson's which are slightly hooded. And yes I would say that Britney also has hooded eyes.
oxfordjasmine 3 years ago
Gillian Anderson-I haven't seen her in forever. You certainly know your celebs huh? =D
Well...who else are we supposed to compare ourselves with?
I also wondered why I always had to add more color higher up on my crease (more above)---something just didn't look right if I didn't. Now I know...thanks!
No I have to check to see how widely spaced they are.

I'm so glad you pointed that out - someone young whose hooded eyes are seen as beautiful by the general public. I'm off to watch some Britney eye make up videos now. :)
