  • people are talking about music sucking nowadays and acting like this is what was popular back then.

  • For those who never heard them it's your loss. 5 Stars out of 4...Why do bands like this miss out on what they truly deserve. Because people who run music think they know everything and they don't know the heart of the people.

  • Everyone complaining about how music is so bad nowadays: you`re idiots. Thanks to cheap instruments and the internet, if there`s anyone with any talent, we`ll hear about it. Look around online, music today is so varied and original, you`re lazy bums who expect to find good music on tv or the radio, again, you`re idiots.

  • The Connells...from Raleigh North Carolina baby

  • Good song. Yeah.

  • One of my favorite songs. I went to dinner with these guys courtesy WDRE 92.7FM.

  • @DaveJemmott THE CONNELLS are so GOOD ! ;D So , SHARE THEIR VIDEOS ON FACEBOOK and everywhere you can for your friends ! OK ? GOOOOOOooooo ! It's so easy to SHARE ! Many CONNELLS videos on Youtube ! Let's do it , thanks for THE CONNELLS ! ( On MYSPACE too)

  • kick ass video by the connells who sang 74 75 a mega hit for me

  • Saw them a couple of times. In NYC in '88 and at the Green Parrot in NJ in '89...tiny place that booked some great acts. Drank beers with them after the show in NJ. Very cool guys who were in no rush to get anywhere that night so a group of us just sat there and drank with them. A great band who should've been far more successful, but the music business just plain sucks.

  • God...so many memories. Viol...this is from Boylan Heights. Its difficult to explain how much this band means to me. All the best boys.

  • this song made living in the eighties a little easier for us who were sick of war & its damage. It still rings true over twenty years later...

  • @sarniaking i know it's scary, but the 80s are no longer 20 years ago, but 30.

  • what was the album?? At the "Ring" theres is no "over there" :/

  • @ ViolenceOfWind:

This is from their 2nd LP, Boyland Heights

  • sweet trumpet .!

  • such a nice play

  • Where could I download this song?

  • Man, I love these guys on a rare appearance in Arizona at the Asylum in the early 90's. What a great band. The Asylum was a dive like no other, I swear we were like two feet away from them, I thought we were to so terrifyingly close.

  • Saw these guys when I was in College in Lincoln, Nebraska in the early 90's and again in like 2001 in Charlotte, NC while I was stationed at FT Bragg. AWESOME both times!

  • Saw them live early 90's in and around charlotte n.c. love this song one of my favorites of all time from any band. They don't write them like this anymore

  • I love The Connells....the best!!!!

  • Saw them live in Knoxville while an undergraduate. Oh, this takes me back! Thanks for posting!

  • Somebody, some where, missed these guys... They are better than were they are at....This pisses me off... I play the music in my car and people say who are these guys...I say a poor promoters mistake... So put a big stereo it in you car...and crank it up so others hear...These guys should be on center stage..

  • I saw the Connells live and outside on a beautiful sunny day in 1992 in the Five Points area of Columbia, SC. They put on a great, memorable performance. This is my favorite tune.

  • My band use to cover so many old Connells songs, but "Over There", with our real trumpet player, was the song everyone loved the most. I miss those days, singing songs from Boylan Heights and Darker Days.

  • Be sure to check out "old school drop outs" came out 2 years ago self produced and amazing can be purchased from their web site. I will post some songs soon can't believe their are none already

  • why is it i never heard of these guys, they're really good..

  • i miss the 90s :( .. where singers were concerned of making good music; and not trying to look "cool" or sexy...

  • oh me too... :'(

  • You're so right, music nowadays is mostly shit. Only made to make money and not to make good music.

  • @arnie066 You guys aren't listening to the right stuff. There's plenty of good music out there, you just have to look for it.

  • @tsourd This album actually came out in 1989, but you are right.

  • this song is life this band is life

  • They're really something special:D

  • Fantastic song, these should have been big!!!

  • piękna... po 74'-75' chyba najlepszy ich song

  • What an incredible song. What memories.

  • These guys should have been massive.

    Great band.

  • rewind. push play. rewind. push play. rewind. push play! Rewind! Push play! REWIND! PUSH PLAY!

  • I have been singing this horn song in my head for maybe 20 years...am I strange??? HAHA!!

  • just a little...aaxaxaxa i am only joking

  • Boylan Heights is brillant, along with Fun and Games. "All the way to Boylan Heights, how are you?"

  • que grupo, enxelente!

  • how do i get there from va beach?????

  • The Connells are playing a free show in Raliegh July 26, 2008. FYI.

  • july 26th is my bday!

  • my birthday!!!

  • The band's best record, the pop masterpiece Boylan Heights (1987) is sadly and stupidly out of print. I urge all to dig it up, it is unquestionably part of the modern rock canon.

  • i hear the horn, but no one is playing it?

  • I partied with these guys back in the day..they came to our house party after a show in Delaware like 12 years ago. Awesome band and they were cool guys too, the drummer even jammed with my roommates. They had some great albums.

  • Yea, I have still seen their cd's in the stores, buyed two yesterday, great band, incredible great writen lyrics.

  • Sadly these guys were 20 years ahead of their time....i.e. our country sending troops to Iraq for no discernable reason.

  • I have to agree with you Little George W is the worst thing that has ever happened to this country

  • They still tour. Luckily, I live in Raleigh NC where most of the band members are from. The play around this area a couple times a year usually. They tour a lot overseas.

  • im with you guys...

  • If anybody wants to share any song with me, coz i aint got any. PLS mail me nedbasha(at)g m a i l . c o m

  • I only have the cd ring for you I treid to order an other cd but it was cancelled like a million times.

    To bad.

  • Im a big fan too. Does anybody know where can i find any album? i love them. Except 74/75 their grate hit it Wonder Why!. Does anybody know if they still PLAY and where. Im ready to travel at the edge of the world to listen to them...

  • they have one album ring.

Ehm try limewire or else i'm gonna put some songs on here from them

  • Boylen Heights should still be around...someplace

  • Great band. Saw them live around '89 at the Cat Club in NYC. Their live shows were really muscular.

  • I saw these gentlemen so many times live back in the late 80's early 90's... incredible band.

  • Was it Mark P. that made this video? I think with label support and no Doug /Mike love triangle this was huge worldwide. It won awards in Italy, Sweden , UK , etc. then Doug and Mike split and ..........

  • i`m from romania and these guys over here know shit about the connlles:D

  • I'm from romania too, but I love this band !

  • I'm from holland and the only song they know here is 74 75

    its a dame shame

they are great artist with great songs

  • I saw the Connells play in concert about 4-5 times when attending Virginia Tech in the early 90's. Excellent shows. They would open up with AC/DC's 'For those about to rock'.

  • Cleaness. That's a word for them. Great band, but underrated, especially here in Italy. That's bad. I just love them.

  • yeah, I don't know how much they're known in other parts of europe, but here in italy all we seem to know about them is the song '74-'75. there are so many beautiful songs from these guys that've just been ignored...

  • Infatti io sono italiano e la penso esattamente come te.

  • the connells have a new website

  • nice one

  • great band

the music and lyrics are so pure.

    They think before they write.

  • im a Connells fan in Ireland, great band, only got in to them about a year ago, such a great, melodic, honest band

  • yowza

  • I'm speechless. So many memories. I think Boylan Heights might be one of the ten greatest albums i won.

  • ^own

  • Itunes has a whole one song by the Connells. It saddens me. I loved seeing this video on 120 Minutes.

  • I've sent a few notes to itunes requesting they get the Connells catalog. Boylan Heights is out of print and hard to find, finally got a decent price on ebay and love hearing it again. I wore out a cassette of that album years and years ago.

  • Well, the first time i heard the connells was yesterday, and, well i'm in love ;D

  • Wow, great post! Seen them live several times since started listening to them back in the IRS Cutting Edge, 120 Minutes, 1980's days. haha

  • I'm glad, because the horns make the song. One of my favourite Connells songs outside of the great Ring album.

  • Am I the only Connells fan in the UK?

  • No, I'm from Scotland and have all their albums!

  • i'm a connell fan in UK, yet i'm probably younger then most connells fans ;)

  • They were the very first band to play at Walnut Creek Amphitheater in Raleigh, NC.

  • "Led the sheep to slaughter", indeed. For a group that put out several outstanding albums in a 10 year period, the Connells were veastly underrated. Saw them many times in the late 80s-early 90s, most of them at the (old) 9:30 Club in DC. The highlight that sticks in my mind was a cover of Rod's "You Wear It Well." Fantastic. Thanks for posting.

  • That made my day - haven't heard that since I played it on my college radio station in 1988.

  • I'll decline when the sign says "over there."

  • Anybody got "Stone Cold Yesterday"? That's my favorite.

  • Great song. I guess 74-75 must have been a hit in Europe judging by all the people who have versions up on YouTube. But old school Connells was the best Connells.

  • These guys ROCK!!! Very underrated.... Saw 'em 4 times in Florida... Very cool bunch of guys!!!

  • One of my favorite CDs.

I have a friend in NC that just saw them at a small club a few months ago. Apparently they still get out and play.

  • Awesome! Probably saw them 20 times in the 90's...Come back fellas!! The world needs The Connells now more than ever!

  • awsome band very underrated.

love this song good for today as it was back then

  • awsome group

  • takes me right back to the late 80s... I wore out this cassette, bought it again and wore that one out too!

  • Boylan Heights, by far their best disc. Hard to believe it has been almost 20 years since this came out.
