@Surabpachida I so wish you actually have any facts to back those stupid outburst.. but you dont.. so keep ranting on about.
Comparison of tax rates around the world is difficult and somewhat subjective. Tax laws in most countries are extremely complex, and tax burden falls differently on different groups in each country and sub-national unit.
Denmark is not even at the top 10 list of most expensive VAT tax in the world..
@TheMgt436 Also, do you know why food is so expensive in Denmark? Because the food manufacturers take advantage of the tax system by repeatedly exporting and importing. Yup, Denmark makes good butter and bacon, right? They send it to Holland and England for packaging, they send it back to Denmark to sell, they receive money from the EU and guess who gets stuck with the bills? The people of Denmark. So much for your "poorer one's benefit", guess what, buddy? You're all equally poor and miserable.
@Surabpachida No offense dude, but i to live in Denmark and it dosen't affect us at all. you seem to be a little.... afraid of us? it's not the 60's anymore dumbass and we're not communists -.- It's just that we care about each other, and a narrow minded redneck like you can't seem to understand it. You also make us look like we're dumb, for letting the government fool us? we're not getting fooled. We pay taxes for healt, public transport and stuff like that.
@TheMgt436 Well, do you live at home and have a steady income? It doesn't "affect" you because in every society around the world people are raised to support the established culture. If you were raised in a Nazi society, you'd be exposed to the symbols, flags etc. If you were raised in a primitive society, you'd be exposed to the javelin and how to hunt etc. If you compare yourself to the rest of the world that has the exact same "social help" as Denmark, then Denmark is one of the worst.
@TheMgt436 Public transportation is NOT free. In fact the prices of public transportation keeps going up. The Social Democrats just decided to raise the prices of public transportation again, even though they promised to lower it. Like I said, other countries have the exact same health services as Denmark, but their income tax is no more than 30%. Did you know that they were very close to shutting down Amager Hospital 2-3 months ago?
@TheMgt436 Look, to cut to the chase: It's actually not the Danish government's fault. It's the people who own the economy. The government does not own the economy nor does the people of Denmark. It's a very small group of bankers who own and control the majority of the world's economy. Europe, especially the Scandinavian countries were the ones most easily exploited after WWI and WWII. That's why they have the highest taxes in the world right now. I'll tell you where the money goes:
@TheMgt436 In Denmark you have banks such as Danske Bank, Nordea etc etc. Now, these are all "public banks", these are for the people to use. You have a central bank called "National Banken". What happens is that when the government or the "public banks" needs money, they request a loan from National Banken. The National Banken gives them "promissory bonds" which is then used to distribute and loan to the people of Denmark. As you probably know, all loans comes with interest. Continued--
@TheMgt436 The government and public banks are not exempt to the interest from loans. What you don't realize is that your tax money is not actually going to the "social services", it's going to the government and banks debt to National Banken. This is the same in the US. They have the "Federal Reserve" which is actually a privately owned bank and not national at all. Continued--
@TheMgt436 The Federal Reserve just bailed out the EU for $640 billion. (Which is actually illegal in the first place.) This money goes to the European Central Bank and then gets distributed to 500+ different banks in Europe. I'm sure you're smart enough to figure out what all of this means and what will happen because of it. Stop thinking your tax money is actually going to somewhere useful because there are countries doing much better than yours with much less tax.
@TheMgt436 Your kitchen is tiny, your apartment is tiny, barely anyone can afford anything. Stand up for your freedom man, study some economics and political science and you will see how corrupt the world really is.
Think about this: When the Roman kids asked their fathers, "daddy, daddy can we go see the Christians being fed to the lions?" Are the those children sick in the head? No, they're not. Their value systems are distorted. It's called societal indoctrination. Hope you understand :)
@Surabpachida WTF?? WE'RE NOT COMMUNISTS ! We have either big houses or small houses dependig on our income. WICH IS DIFFERENT depending on what jobs we have. It has nothing to do with the government, And I KNOW political science, but you're making a very big deal out af something thats an incredibly small amount of the Danish society. And i have the same rights as you, maybe even more. I get free health care, Free pre, middle and high school.
@TheMgt436 Denmark is among the highest in the world in real estate/property + income tax and people living in small places has nothing to do with the government? Are you FUCKING stupid??? A lot of western countries receive free health care, pre, middle, high school and university. What don't you understand about it?
@emilm Im just sayin' America (and a shitload of other countries) can learn a lot from Denmark. Of course our government has a lot to do with the TAXES. People can just get an education and make more money if they want to so, but some people are just too god damn lazy to get of their ass and do so. They have every possible oportunity, they just don't take advantage of it. That why SOME people are forced, economicly, to live in small houses.
@emilm but DK is among the very few countries that PAYS students for studying, that is not cheap. Beside our extensive system to take care of the unemployed. When a person is fired the local authories are, by law, obliged to give this person compensation to maintain a certain level of living standard. BTW few countries offer total free education from kindergarden to university (uni you have to pay your books, however), and in Sweden you pay to visit your doctor, in DK you don't (yet).
@Baal1985 Canada, Belgium, Germany, France, Norway, Japan, S.Korea, Finland, The Netherlands, UK, New Zealand, Australia and Italy among many others have free health care as well. Almost all have lower income taxes than Denmark.
What makes Denmark's healthcare so much better besides propaganda bias?
Denmark has the 4th highest unemployment rate in Europe behind Portugal, Spain, Ireland, and they're on the verge of total bankruptcy. Denmark just entered another recession according to the government's economic report.
Why do you think that is? Let's take care of all the unemployment. Hey btw, do you have a job?
@TheMgt436 Please no one pay any attention to TheMgt436, the guy has no idea about anything in his own country. Denmark was one of the countries hit the hardest by the financial crisis and has just entered another recession. Hey guy, why don't you go read the economic plan and status? Oh shit I'm sorry, you're probably too fucking dumb to understand any of the information on there. Why don't you take advantage of your "free schooling" to learn? You make us Danes look uneducated.
@Surabpachida Even free universities, cause the government takes care of that. And our system isn't disortered. We are one of the countries to makes the best out of the economical crisis. You might consider us communists, but we most definately are not. You just seem to be very stereotypical (?), you should come and see our country and experience the danish lifestyle and you will se how wrong you are about the danish society. Hope you understand ;)
@Surabpachida And the government isn't really having trouble with the health programme, we're trying to make all of the former governments mistakes right, and they're mad because we haven't fixed it after just a couple of months. They destroyed our country in 8 years and start bitching because we haven't fixed it in a few months. It takes time and some people cant accept it.
@Surabpachida so you see one manufacturer that "might" be doing that because the know the way around the system - but that does not prove any of you flared points at all.
we do have some of the best food products in the world second to only Italy in ham products.
our way on looking to how manufacturing are done - are hailed by other companies and countries - and that's the facts. In Denmark you can choose to buy a cheeper version if you don't want to buy Danish Royal Bacon.
1) The pastry called a "Danish" isn't actually Danish.
2) Amsterdam actually has the best bike lanes in the world and is the bike capital of the world, not Denmark. Portland, Oregon (USA) is actually 2nd, and lastly, Denmark is 3rd.
3) There's a jazz festival in every country.
4) The guy confused Denmark with Sweden. He's talking about IKEA and that's Swedish. Denmark is so insignificant people think it belongs to another country.
5) There IS something rotten in Denmark - communism.
@lucky13btw He's right. Denmark is socialist which is based on the exact same principles as communism. The only difference is in Christian Europe, of the two, communism was believed the atheist way of life. In Protestant England, the word communism was too culturally and aurally close to the Roman Catholic communion rite, hence English atheists denoted themselves socialist. Theres no difference. Socialism is modern communism
@Surabpachida Socialism and Communism is not and never have been the same, I guess if you had a propper education like we get for free here, you might know the difference. ;) Get a libery card and read some books, thats still free in your part of the world right?
@TrueAnglers The only difference between Socialism and Communism is the degree. Same concept, same theories, same ideals. It's a mutant hybrid that leaves all unhappy and will inevitably teeter one way or the other. The greater the level of Socialism the greater the interference in the economy and the less freedom and rights. Thus, the economy begins to collapse and people need more assistance to do the things they used to be able to afford.
@TrueAnglers Furthermore, you do know that Denmark is in an economic recession, right? You do know that they are currently having massive unemployment issues, right? "Propper", "Libery". So much for your "free" education lol. Btw, there are at least 135 different countries with free education, so take your unwarranted, blind pride elsewhere. Most of Denmark's politicians don't even have an education themselves. Look at your Minister of Foreign Affairs, Villy Søvndal. Can't even speak English
@crazycutz 1) Doesn't matter where it was perfected, the fact remains that it is not originally Danish.
4) Denmark has 25% VAT tax which is the 2nd highest in the world. Iceland is number 1 with 26% and according to your logic, Iceland was gained it's full independence from Denmark only about 60 years ago, so yeah, same thing. Denmark has the highest VAT tax in the world (according to your logic). Everything else is nationalist opinion, not FACT.
@crazycutz The fact that you can't find a relationship between communism and socialism because it is based on the SAME PRINCIPLES is due to your lack of education. It means you know NOTHING about communism and socialism which is a shame because you know nothing about the politics of your own country. How can you even vote? Why do you get offended by the word "communism"? It is actually a better system on paper than socialism.
@emilm The shame is, that communism has yet to be executed "properly". Look at Soviet Russia and North Korea. I believe, that communish has a great idea and is one of the best ideologies out there. But! It lacks realism. You can't demand, that everyone is equal in a society (equal pay and so forth). The human species is simply not capable of that. If we one day find a well-functioning, thriving, happe, non-dictator-lead communist country... Imma be shitting my pants.
1 it's called a danish, because the "danish" you know, is made with danish butter (yes there is a difference, that's why US import that much butter ;-p)
2 mhm... is subjective... but it's certainly not bad here
3 yes, lot of countries have one... our is apperently know in NY :-D
4 Nope, Danish Design certainly NOT IKEA!
5 And you show your ingnorance. "there's something rotten in the state of Denmark" = first line of Hamlet my Shakespear
@Jabbadoor2 I appreciate your attempt to correct your typo and your willingness to comment, but please do a little bit more research before you comment.
@Jabbadoor2 1) No, it's not made with Danish butter and no, it does not make a difference. Who exposed you to such nationalist propaganda? It's of Viennese origin and it is called a "Danish" in America because it was a Danish person who baked it for president Woodrow Wilson. Even Danish exchange students in the US deny any sort of connection of that type of pastry to Denmark. You know why? Because they're actually EDUCATED, that's why they're called "students".
@Jabbadoor2 Denmark does not export butter to the US you dumbass. Why would the US import butter if they have their OWN butter to EXPORT?
2) Is your opinion which has nothing to do with facts.
3) It's "apparently known" in NY because ONE girl thought, THOUGHT her father played ad a jazz festival in Denmark? That's a strong argument there, buddy. Not.
4) The US has furniture from all over the world. Danish furniture is not one of the most common. Your point is moot.
@emilm Erhm... Yes, Denmark exports butter to the US... Why? because people like to have a choice between brands. The Danish brand Lurpak is among the worlds most popular.
Denmark also exports pork, design and architecture... While importing the same things from the US and other places.. It all about choice.
@iGottaRandomName Except in Denmark, right? In Denmark people don't like choices, because all the brands are "Danmark". "Danmark"(Private insurance company called DANMARK LOLOL), "Dansk Kartoffler", "Dansk Agurk", "Dansk Tomat", "Dansk Smør", "Dansk Ost", "Dansk Salt", "Dansk Pølse", "Dansk Bøf", "Dansk Rap".
No propaganda in Denmark bro, everything is just Dansk.
@emilm We have choices, too. My bed is Swedish, my peanutbutter is American, my wine is Italian, my computer is Chinese, my lettuce is Spanish.. I think you got my point. In America they also make a big deal out of stuff made in their home country, as if it's a way to make sure the quality is good. Actually, I'm pretty sure you'll find this behaviour in about any country.
@KarolineSadowski Actually, your peanut butter is from Denmark. Denmark doesn't import peanut butter from the US. You can only get US peanut butter from the store limited to the American Embassy only. "To make sure the quality is good" Oh come on, stop it with the propaganda. What makes "Danish" products better than any other country? Only in Denmark do you have the Danish flag plastered on almost every food product.
@KarolineSadowski Your computer is Chinese not because you have a choice. Your computer is Chinese because you DON'T have a choice, do you understand? It's made in China because of CHEAP LABOR. And your bed is not Swedish, it's CHINESE as well. Please, what you're talking about has nothing to do with "choice".
@KarolineSadowski Karoline, I can understand if you have a sense of nationalism, but please you must admit hearing, "Yeah, Danish products are just better quality, Danish tomatoes and cucumbers tastes better", sounds a little propagated, don't you think? I mean, come on be honest.
@emilm I didn't say that the products are better quality. I said AS IF it's a way to ensure quality. Of course it isn't, but some nationalists think it is :P
@emilm that is because to call something "made in denmark" is seen quality. Fruit and vegs made in denmark often taste better, are more fresh and less pesticide is found.
But you got a choice. My meat is German (cheaper), my tomatoes Spanish (it is out of season in DK), and when we move to the non-food domain your message makes no sense whatsoever, since here most products are from outside. DK imports a hell a lot of stuff, a minute used to look at our import/export would prove my point
@emilm Don't like choices? We have a huge palette of different danish products, brands and qualities. Danes like danish stuff for 3 reasons, one of them shared by most of the world.
1. Local goods. Buying something that haven't been shipped halfway around the world is alot more eco-friendly. Also, some people think local food to be "fresher"
2. Supporting the danish economy. Our economy sucks, why would you want to send your money out of the country, more than necessary?
3. Many places in the world, including in Denmark it self, "Made in Denmark" is a quality Brand.
The danish Lurpack is a world-best seller, Denmark is known for its bacon and pork, and there havent been a case of salmonellae in danish chicken for over a decade.
@iGottaRandomName The official report from the food ministry in Denmark states that there's been around 36 000 affected by salmonella by Danish chicken and eggs the past 3 years so I don't know what the hell you're talking about, buddy.
here's a tip: don't ask new yorkers anything about anything outside new york city. Scratch that don't ask them anything about anything outside their butts, their heads are firmly planted up there.
If you had read Minimeister317's comment you would have learned that Anders Fogh Rasmussen is the NATO Secretary General, not the "head of the UN". The UN Secretary General is Ban Ki-moon from South Korea.
let's pick on the little mistakes, Danes misquote things about America ALL THE TIME and we don't jump down their throats. The point is that maybe Denmark is not as well known, because they have not done enough to be NOTICED, let's work on changing that and not calling Americans dumb. P.S. TheDaniboy quote is wrong too - state and country can not be interchanged - so who is the dumb one?
I think it comes down to size tbh. New York has like 3 times the population of our entire country. Why would they know anything about Denmark at all? I think they did very well.
It's not that Denmark hasn't done a lot of things (For its size and population.) but it's the same with most other tiny countries. Ask New Yorkers about Norway, Sweden, Finland, Estonia etc. and I bet you'd get the same thing. :)
What kind of answers do you expect we you ask a bunch of hipsters about another country?

TheMgt436 2 weeks ago
@TheMgt436 Denmark is among the highest in the world in real estate/property + income tax and people living in small places has nothing to do with the government? Are you FUCKING stupid??? A lot of western countries receive free health care, pre, middle, high school and university. What don't you understand about it?
emilm 2 weeks ago
@emilm Im just sayin' America (and a shitload of other countries) can learn a lot from Denmark. Of course our government has a lot to do with the TAXES. People can just get an education and make more money if they want to so, but some people are just too god damn lazy to get of their ass and do so. They have every possible oportunity, they just don't take advantage of it. That why SOME people are forced, economicly, to live in small houses.
TheMgt436 2 weeks ago
@emilm but DK is among the very few countries that PAYS students for studying, that is not cheap. Beside our extensive system to take care of the unemployed. When a person is fired the local authories are, by law, obliged to give this person compensation to maintain a certain level of living standard. BTW few countries offer total free education from kindergarden to university (uni you have to pay your books, however), and in Sweden you pay to visit your doctor, in DK you don't (yet).
Baal1985 2 weeks ago
@Baal1985 Canada, Belgium, Germany, France, Norway, Japan, S.Korea, Finland, The Netherlands, UK, New Zealand, Australia and Italy among many others have free health care as well. Almost all have lower income taxes than Denmark.
What makes Denmark's healthcare so much better besides propaganda bias?
emilm 2 weeks ago
@Baal1985

You make us Danes look uneducated.
emilm 2 weeks ago

TheMgt436 4 weeks ago

5) There IS something rotten in Denmark - communism.
emilm 1 month ago
@emilm 6) ur an idiot, denmark is NOT communist!
lucky13btw 1 month ago
@lucky13btw He's right. Denmark is socialist which is based on the exact same principles as communism. The only difference is in Christian Europe, of the two, communism was believed the atheist way of life. In Protestant England, the word communism was too culturally and aurally close to the Roman Catholic communion rite, hence English atheists denoted themselves socialist. Theres no difference. Socialism is modern communism
Surabpachida 1 month ago
@Surabpachida Socialism and Communism is not and never have been the same, I guess if you had a propper education like we get for free here, you might know the difference. ;) Get a libery card and read some books, thats still free in your part of the world right?
TrueAnglers 1 month ago
@TrueAnglers The only difference between Socialism and Communism is the degree. Same concept, same theories, same ideals. It's a mutant hybrid that leaves all unhappy and will inevitably teeter one way or the other. The greater the level of Socialism the greater the interference in the economy and the less freedom and rights. Thus, the economy begins to collapse and people need more assistance to do the things they used to be able to afford.
Surabpachida 4 weeks ago
@TrueAnglers Furthermore, you do know that Denmark is in an economic recession, right? You do know that they are currently having massive unemployment issues, right? "Propper", "Libery". So much for your "free" education lol. Btw, there are at least 135 different countries with free education, so take your unwarranted, blind pride elsewhere. Most of Denmark's politicians don't even have an education themselves. Look at your Minister of Foreign Affairs, Villy Søvndal. Can't even speak English
Surabpachida 4 weeks ago
@emilm Haha - come on man. Obviously, Denmark isn't communist. Socialist is the proper term. And that is actually working out pretty well.
And no one said anything about IKEA. You might/might not know Arne Jacobsen which is a pretty prominent furniture designer.
So swallow the pipe and spread the love... <3

1. its called so because it was called that after a the Wiener bread - from Germany - but was later on made and perfected in Denmark
2. others think differently
3. and in Denmark too.. and ours are famous.
4. Denamrk used to own Sweden - and is only 30 min away from the main capital by train.
5.
We dont have any Communism - well unless you thing that the socialist party is a comunist party.. but if so.. then you know noting about Communism.
crazycutz 3 weeks ago
@crazycutz 2) It doesn't matter if others think differently, the FACT remains that it is NOT. Amsterdam is 1st and Copenhagen is 3rd.
3) Jazz festivals around the world are famous in their own country. Everything you are saying is based on nationalist beliefs.
emilm 3 weeks ago

It is actually a better system on paper than socialism.
emilm 3 weeks ago
@emilm The shame is, that communism has yet to be executed "properly". Look at Soviet Russia and North Korea. I believe, that communish has a great idea and is one of the best ideologies out there. But! It lacks realism. You can't demand, that everyone is equal in a society (equal pay and so forth). The human species is simply not capable of that. If we one day find a well-functioning, thriving, happe, non-dictator-lead communist country... Imma be shitting my pants.

Because they're actually EDUCATED, that's why they're called "students".
emilm 3 weeks ago
@Jabbadoor2 Denmark does not export butter to the US you dumbass. Why would the US import butter if they have their OWN butter to EXPORT?
2) Is your opinion which has nothing to do with facts.
3) It's "apparently known" in NY because ONE girl thought, THOUGHT her father played ad a jazz festival in Denmark? That's a strong argument there, buddy. Not.
4) The US has furniture from all over the world. Danish furniture is not one of the most common. Your point is moot.
emilm 3 weeks ago
@emilm Erhm... Yes, Denmark exports butter to the US... Why? because people like to have a choice between brands. The Danish brand Lurpak is among the worlds most popular.
Denmark also exports pork, design and architecture... While importing the same things from the US and other places.. It all about choice.
iGottaRandomName 2 weeks ago
@iGottaRandomName Except in Denmark, right? In Denmark people don't like choices, because all the brands are "Danmark". "Danmark"(Private insurance company called DANMARK LOLOL), "Dansk Kartoffler", "Dansk Agurk", "Dansk Tomat", "Dansk Smør", "Dansk Ost", "Dansk Salt", "Dansk Pølse", "Dansk Bøf", "Dansk Rap".
No propaganda in Denmark bro, everything is just Dansk.
emilm 2 weeks ago
@emilm We have choices, too. My bed is Swedish, my peanutbutter is American, my wine is Italian, my computer is Chinese, my lettuce is Spanish.. I think you got my point. In America they also make a big deal out of stuff made in their home country, as if it's a way to make sure the quality is good. Actually, I'm pretty sure you'll find this behaviour in about any country.
KarolineSadowski 2 weeks ago
@KarolineSadowski Actually, your peanut butter is from Denmark. Denmark doesn't import peanut butter from the US. You can only get US peanut butter from the store limited to the American Embassy only. "To make sure the quality is good" Oh come on, stop it with the propaganda. What makes "Danish" products better than any other country? Only in Denmark do you have the Danish flag plastered on almost every food product.
emilm 2 weeks ago
@KarolineSadowski Your computer is Chinese not because you have a choice. Your computer is Chinese because you DON'T have a choice, do you understand? It's made in China because of CHEAP LABOR. And your bed is not Swedish, it's CHINESE as well. Please, what you're talking about has nothing to do with "choice".
emilm 2 weeks ago
@KarolineSadowski Karoline, I can understand if you have a sense of nationalism, but please you must admit hearing, "Yeah, Danish products are just better quality, Danish tomatoes and cucumbers tastes better", sounds a little propagated, don't you think? I mean, come on be honest.
emilm 2 weeks ago
@emilm I didn't say that the products are better quality. I said AS IF it's a way to ensure quality. Of course it isn't, but some nationalists think it is :P
KarolineSadowski 2 weeks ago
@KarolineSadowski I like you. You're a smart girl.
emilm 2 weeks ago
@emilm that is because to call something "made in denmark" is seen quality. Fruit and vegs made in denmark often taste better, are more fresh and less pesticide is found.
But you got a choice. My meat is German (cheaper), my tomatoes Spanish (it is out of season in DK), and when we move to the non-food domain your message makes no sense whatsoever, since here most products are from outside. DK imports a hell a lot of stuff, a minute used to look at our import/export would prove my point
Baal1985 2 weeks ago
@emilm Don't like choices? We have a huge palette of different danish products, brands and qualities. Danes like danish stuff for 3 reasons, one of them shared by most of the world.
1. Local goods. Buying something that haven't been shipped halfway around the world is alot more eco-friendly. Also, some people think local food to be "fresher"
2. Supporting the danish economy. Our economy sucks, why would you want to send your money out of the country, more than necessary?
To be continued...
iGottaRandomName 1 week ago
@iGottaRandomName
3. Many places in the world, including in Denmark it self, "Made in Denmark" is a quality Brand.
The danish Lurpack is a world-best seller, Denmark is known for its bacon and pork, and there havent been a case of salmonellae in danish chicken for over a decade.
iGottaRandomName 1 week ago
@iGottaRandomName The official report from the food ministry in Denmark states that there's been around 36 000 affected by salmonella by Danish chicken and eggs the past 3 years so I don't know what the hell you're talking about, buddy.

@Jabbadoor2 5) Ok, my "ingnorance" was a reference to a line in Shakespeare's Hamlet play spoken by Marcellus in Act I of Scene IV.
Yep, that shows my error, right? According to you it is the "first line of Hamlet my Shakespear". I think the "ingnorance" is all you.
Basically my "errors" is an opinion based entirely on your lack of knowledge and education.
Do yourself a favor and take advantage of the "free education" we have here in Denmark. Idiot.

let's pick on the little mistakes, Danes misquote things about America ALL THE TIME and we don't jump down their throats. The point is that maybe Denmark is not as well known, because they have not done enough to be NOTICED, let's work on changing that and not calling Americans dumb. P.S. TheDaniboy quote is wrong too - state and country can not be interchanged - so who is the dumb one?
magiccharlie 3 months ago

I think it comes down to size tbh. New York has like 3 times the population of our entire country. Why would they know anything about Denmark at all? I think they did very well.
It's not that Denmark hasn't done a lot of things (For its size and population.) but it's the same with most other tiny countries. Ask New Yorkers about Norway, Sweden, Finland, Estonia etc. and I bet you'd get the same thing. :)
