Yeah I have a really anxious black and tan coonhound who will do anything to find the source of an uncommon scent/sound/look. I've tried everything, dog whistles, shock collars, electric wires (she tends to try to dig out). But never a muzzle (I could never do that to her), I guess dogs just have to be dogs, you can't force dogs to do your every whym. I tend to walk her once per 2 days, instead of once per week and it seems to lessen her barking problems.

You should walk your dog more than once every two days it  should be more like two times a day. The walking relieves tension for the dog and you can also use your walks as good trainging time. The dog wants you to be the pack leader, if you are consist about training your dog will begin to listen. I Don't give up and don't give your dog mixed signals i.e. "I want you to stop barking, but its too much trouble so I let you continue barking".

Yes, and it's not even a huge shock. Most of the time she ran over the barrier. I just don't like seeing my dog being strapped into an uncomfortable muzzle. But hey, like I said, I stopped doing that and me and my dog have been best of friends ever since.
