  • I love how they over pronounce geoCACHing. I'd love for it to become known to more people here in Cincinnati! We have over 10k in only a 30 mile diameter circle. Yeah, we're hardcore... ^.^

  • Coooooooooouuuuuuuuulllllllllllll

  • Looking to give your site a traffic boost? The GAS AFFILIATE SYSTEM is the best choice,Because unless you are a master in php language you won't be able to install other aff systems,Get it here GAS-AFFILIATEdotCOM and make get that traffic you want.

  • I like to geo cache, I got my handheld from gpssatnavreviews (.) com

  • psh, try doing this with a real compass, people rely to much on tech these days

  • I use the iPhone 4 App and it's awesome! I can find the cache and log it too!

  • /watch?v=b4Gt0_y5QeA&playnext_from=TL&videos=LvvuCdtYo1Q&feature=sub

  • im going geoching tomarrow. I use google maps

  • Going to do some this Friday, yay! (:

  • yeahhh u have ur cock with uu a bunch of fatts kids wtffff

  • I use the iPhone geocahe app and it sucks. The compass is horrible, but it gets the job done

  • lol at 2:31

  • I was panicking all over the world. It happens and then I calm down a liottle after I wear myself out maybe cleaning or emailing or calling around and then I am okay again. I am a mom what can I say... I love my son

  • why don't you check the logs to see if he's been muggled?

  • MUGGLED? opps caps.. what is that?

  • fattys shouldent geocache

  • Uhh yeah...

  • PIZZA!

  • $100? Most of the newer phones have google maps (iPhone g1 etc.). Why blow $100 on geocaching when you can pull out your phone

  • Rmazer555

Cuase cell phones aren't very accurate.

  • @Rmazer555 haha I spent a lot more than that on my GPS units and have a htc google phone with the application. The handheld GPSs are much more advanced for this sport. As soon as the phone applications are suitable, and user friendly, I'll be relying on them more.

Until then, I'll stick to my Delorme.

  • The GPSr unit is often more rugged than a phone, and what if you loose your beloved phone in a stream while hunting....

I have used a phone for almost all my caching, but I still would like to get myself a descent GPSr for the geocachein, and the Garmin Dakota 20 appeals to me ;)

  • @Rmazer555 This video is ooold

  • I'd bet this family gets really excited at night when they tell each other jokes related to megabytes, file formats, gps coordinates, etc.

  • She said GPS system...redundancy!

  • I know people who drive around all day finding these things. It's one thing to find a few while out hiking, but some people waste so much oil (gas) to drive around and find these things. What a waste of a natural resource.

  • More oil leaks out of the ground every minute than what extra gas I'll consume geocaching it in a lifetime. Better yet, a whole team of geocachers.

  • Oh, ok. I guess it's alright then. Sorry buddy.

  • I work in the oil, gas and chemical inspection industry. We are doing more harm replacing MTBE with Ethanol and Recycleing programs than every Geocacher's extra consumption combined. The reason I say this is because these two things were a result of someone who was trying to help the enviorment and resulted in more damage and costs to the public.

Geocaching of all things is not a eco-detrimental organization.

  • Hmm, I see. You work in the "oil industry". Well your point of view makes perfectly sense to me then. I guess it does no real harm to drive around in a SUV all day long, looking for 15+ caches 3 times a week. Long live OIL nation I guess.

  • The end is approaching faster than the weather. The hottest day to come is bound by a nuclear warhead, not by a SUV's gasoline consumption. If we see the day the earth is destroyed by lack of OIL, then we were spared a long life. The short probable death of Religious genecide is a quick smug of reality. This world has much more problems then we can ever understand.

  • Well, that is in the eye of the beholder. The world has always had "problems" Nothing new there. But great excuse for consuming oil though.

  • We consume oil because It's much too expensive to mount solar wafers on our cars, (Then we'd we stealing natures silicone) or build hydrogen motors on a small scale, or any other break in technology that lays off Oil consumption. We have no choice. Do you drive a bike everywhere you go? Without oil, you wouldn't have the tires, reflectors or paint. for your bike. They all have materials in them which come from refined crude oil.

If your shoes have rubber soles, then your also using oil.

  • Comment removed

  • Who said people were driving around SUV's all day? Most people find these on trips anyways not just driving around souly for finding caches.

  • OH MAN!! They are advertising leaving BULLSWAH. lame wood token? SHEESH.

  • I go caching with my phone - no other investment than what I usually spend on a mobile phone contract - get a snazzy phone with GPS, and not only can you look for cahces, you can see the geocaching website while you are out there!

  • I like to have the dedicated unit. For one, the battery lasts longer, two, it's more rugged, and three, you don't have to switch back and forth between the cache page and the navigation screen. I have my phone for situations where I need to check logs, description, etc., but I would never rely on it.

  • Great vid on GC'en silky!!! And no...budda, its a sport for all...

Rich or poor... The intial investment may cost ya getting a unit, maybe $100...

But I have met so many peeps and been to places I would never seen or expericed if it was not for geocaching... You spend how techy you wanna be in ths sport..My Etrex , yes , the little yellowv one, 5 years old, has gotten me oner 1500 cache finds...

I have nuthing to hide... DO IT!!! have fun!!! Enjoy the outdoors!!!

  • some people don't even use the GPS, I know a couple who just looks the caches up on Google Maps and goes out to the spot.

  • a sport for rich people

  • um, no it's not.

  • Sport for rich people? Ya, kinda like dumpster diving?

I do put money into my caches, and so do a lot of others, but 40% of the caches I've ran into are assembled junk lol

My swag is actually nice, because I put money into it. However, that's good because it keep'em commin to mine.

    I prefer it that way.

  • It's not about the money, why would you want the same people coming back anyways?

  • The caches I'm refering too, are mostly kid caches loaded with toys. I know how much my kids like them, so I try to spread them in my area for the same reason. Anyway, I have been done laying out caches for a few months now, I work a job that requires too much time. I'm sure this summer I'll pick up on it again.

  • geocaching ftw

  • i got an etrex summit on sail for $69 but it was orriginally $290 i love this game i found a few caches

  • dude the last guy was all like. yay sounds like fun you dumbasses.... a GPS costs fucking 100 $ but of COURSE the website is free... damn kids....

  • Mine cost a lot more than $100 but then again I gave up drinking, clubing, and partying. When I was in the military, I never saw a week without getting wasted with my friends.

When you have kids and a career job, your hobbies change will likely change.

This is a good hobby to stay out of trouble and keeps the kids having fun.

  • i know i know. i LOVE caching.. i was just imitating the guy at the end.

  • lmao

  • I guess if it gets people off the couch... still, wouldn't it be more of a challenge without the GPS?

  • Yes it can be more difficult without a GPS, especially out in the woods. Old fashioned compass, map, ruler and compass works... Takes a lot more time.

  • DUDE! Sand Dollar! Rad find!

  • Wow. They found a large cache? Someone walking to one instead of trying to drive to it? I can't believe it. I believe these were among the same people who claimed not to want to be in media. hrm.

  • A wooden token is put back ? this family are called pirates !!!

  • Good story!

  • hey people i hid one on top of a mountain clost to my house wich i hacd to climb like 3 hours both ways, and then the website told me it wasnt allowed to be there!!!

  • No one likes a show off

  • Geocaching is BEST!!

  • are you serious me and my family were walking in the woods shed hunting today and we found a geocaching ammo can and had no idea what it was so we just left it.

    p.s. we were in montana

  • lol doin that was how i found out about geocaching

  • Maybe it was on private property.

  • this isnt a sport its a hobby plus it is crazy to find one a had to climb a steep side of a river bank to where i fall i drown

  • First of all, gay is not a very descriptive way to describe your thoughts. Second, if you don't think it's cool then don't do it. Third, insulting something you've never done is really ignorant. It's fun. You should try it. It's true that some caches have a level 5 difficulty where you actually need rock climbing equipment and experience to get to it. I'd also like to add that sometimes there are cool things in the caches but this isn't the point.

  • my iphone gets me within 2 feet everytime, are real gps units that bad that it only gets you within 20 yards? i was thinking of buying one but i think i will stick with my iphone

  • look at the posted date man.... gps's are way better now... mine gets me within 5 feet....

And id love to see your iphone get you within two feet up in the mountains

  • signal up in the mountains is even stronger

  • the old ones aren't very good. you've probably just gotten lucky with your phone, the GPSr in it really isn't that great.

  • It is a lot more accurate then the gps from my car

  • yea you dont really need a gps

  • Go Geocaching! My geocaching screen name is NYMfan. It is great to see geocaching getting more popular by the day.

  • coooooooooooool!!! the guy at 2:32 sounded like an idiot, but caching is my favorite hobby.

  • I love to geocache! Its awesome! We do it as a family! If your around Ft. Worth area look us up! Texaslibra!

  • "A GPS will cost you about 100 bucks?"

Wow. It's called eBay, folks. You can get a GPS for WAY less than 100 bucks

  • was on ebay 5 minutes ago, two were less than a hundred bucks, both so old they are useless. you need a minimum of 12 chanels and the cheapest on ebay is $140 right now

  • ** Sigh **

Must they refer to it as a 'Treasure Hunt?

The other thing that I have an issue with is the wording 'Most' caches have a log book

The log it the central element of the cache contents

Many many many urban caches have nothing in them other than the log

Meh, either way things like this help educate the mugglers as far as I'm concerned

    TNLNSL TFTNewsStory ;)

  • Cooooool... haha loser

  • We just got done filming a mini-documentary with news 7 anchor Caroline Tucker of channel 7 news in Watertown, N.Y. great sport/hobby nice to see media coverage. Belair56.

  • i am kinda new at "g cashing" (my nick name for it)...I just started with a few buddys and have 10 finds and a few TB out there....

  • dont call it g caching...

  • good explanation! I like it!

  • i just joined the site!

i dont have a gps though

  • Hey don't let that stop you, I've found several without the aid of a GPS unit.

  • if you dont have a GPS ( wich you probably do by now cuz its been a month from when you posted this) just search google for some kind of coordinate mapper or somthing. thats how I found my first cache

  • Geocaching rocks! Lostmontanan here with 257 finds.

  • I knew I was obsessed with geocaching when I typed it into the search bar. This video came up and the video is good. That guy hosting the show was like, "Cool" and it was so fake. You can tell he has never cached. But, I am glad that this is posted!! Rock on geocachers! If you ever are in Gulfport, MS look up "hizarlow". That's us. God bless.
