I agree with what you are saying though, killing is never acceptable - the difference is; whether they were right or wrong in the past there was community support for paramilitary action, there isnt now, the majority of republicans don't want this.

The problem I see in this is this idea of support giving legitimacy. support for killing has fluxuated throughout Irish history. Support for killing has never been overwhelming but if we are to base the acceptability of killing on support then there is always the chance that tomorrow a majority could support killing. If a majority of republicans supported killing are we to accept it?

I am saying that in terms of the omagh bomb, the rira clearly did not intend to kill civillians. Secondly, I've got a better grasp of history than most of the Neanderthals who claim to support the RIRA: I am aware that de Valera - the leader of the anti-Treaty IRA - acknowledged that, were partition not implemented by the British, the Dáil and Ulster unionists would organise it themselves (22nd August 1921).
