Because it as 2 DC motor's the Tesla as one AC motor.

Electric cars are far more powerful than internal combustion cars. No contest. However battery tech is lagging way behind. If batteries were cheap and could store a lot of power.. the electric car would be highly popular. BTW, love the car.

The cool thing about that car is, it doesn't look like it would have great driving performance but people will astonish if you are going to accelerate in this little rocket ; )
