drama / glam - stunning beauty - she never allowed herself a light moment. I liked her best in "The Ghost and Mrs.Muir" but she was also amazing in "Laura" and "The Razor's Edge" is devastating.
She lived near us growing up and we all just threw in the towel and "burned incense at her feet". My Father got along for easy chat with many of the famed, but NOT Ms. Tierney - he'd come home after a work call to her estate, looking quite respectful and quiet - none of the lightheartedhumor .
Today is Genes birthday and I am watching all the wonderful tributes to Gene that have been uploaded since I first uploaded my own. The first youtubers' I found to upload any tributes to Gene where Mondbruder and Shanghibenny and thanks to them so did I,and now there are so many it is wonderful to see.
No woman ever walked like Gene Eliza Tierney. That's all she needed to do to make you fall in love with her.You knew you were observing the most beautiful of all women.
@northernoir You're so right! Just watching her walk onto a set always made my mouth drop open; she was that gorgeous. Thanks so much for your comment, and your "right on the money" observation! Hail Gene!
@varadero1839 I agree. She had a way of taking over the scene, no matter who else was there. Her part in "The Egyptian" was relatively small, but somehow your attention always ended up on her. Thanks for posting this clip.
@dturnbull2 I remember Gene in "The Egyptian!" It's been a long while, but I think one of her more interesting lines is when she and her mom are discussing Victor Mature. Been so long, but one of them refers to him as "the son of a cheese-maker!" It's almost like a line from a "Monty Python" film! All things considered, Gene could still make that kind of a comment, and still come off smelling like a rose! Great to hear from you!
@dturnbull2 Thanks so much for your comment! The cast in this film only got better! There were several brief appearances of a very youthful Dorothy Dandridge, only 1-2 years younger than Gene. Ms T's beauty pretty much eclipsed any other female in this production. She'll always be my favorite. I'm honored to hear from you!
@twilson11208 What an amazing tribute! It's hard not to fall for Ms. Tierney. She's so difficult to categorize! If wars were ever truly fought over any woman, she'd have been at the top of the list! Thanks so much for your comment.
@MrHarj007 Thanks kind friend! Gene's beauty is unlike any other! Obviously, as a connoisseur of true beauty, you've already spoken volumes! I'm very grateful for your kind comment!
@MrHarj007 Sorry for the delay. I'm in your corner regarding this beauty! They broke the mold a long time ago. Gene, Ava Gardner, Liz Taylor, (RIP), should be in the pantheon of eternal beauties! Those of today seem like "smoke and mirrors" as compared to at least these three! Thanks so much for your notice 2 weeks ago, kind and knowledgeable friend!
@labeate Hi labeate. I made a comment a little while ago about this film called "Sundown." Please see the comment just a little earlier than yours. Best Wishes!
@labeate Hi again labeate. I don't have the entire film, but someone here has uploaded it all. If you have time, please check it out under the user name apeloki. Think they've provided the complete, vintage film!
No doubt this is a very lovely clip, typical of the dreams that Hollywood has created for us. I think that Gene Tierney should be posthumously known as 'Laura'.
One can not think of her without thinking of the mesmerizing Laura. David Raksin's music has placed her high in the heavens. Thanks for posting.
@stephenjoeagi You're most welcome! I often think of Gene as "Laura" as well, but every so often I love her as the beautiful, yet sinister "Ellen," in "Leave Her to Heaven!" Nominated that year, '45, for best actress, sadly she lost to Joan Crawford.
I know TCM did a tribute to Gene Tierney a few days ago. Probably this movie was one of those shown. I hope it will be repeated as I am intrigued by what you have presented. She certainly was among the most beautiful women to ever grace the screen.
Gene Tierney was indeed a very beautiful and equaly disturbed in real life by her beauty. In this movie she arrives by private plane in an oasis in the middle of nowhere to have her credentials checked. As soon as she lands, she adopts the local attire displaying her flabby albeit thin abdomen, without showing her navel, something no self respecting woman would do today. Is she in Etrhiopia? in the Sudan? She is greeted in a language not moslem, and is surrounded by suave Englishmen in ties. Wow
@easyoldbear I can see your point! There is a certain something about the two suggesting a resemblance. To me, I feel that Gene's appearance will always top the next "pretender" to the throne. There was something unique in her appearance that could make a young lady from Philadelphia appear to be a Eurasian goddess! Anyway, she was a rather wealthy young person who probably didn't need to do much of anything, but decided to act, and really worked her way up, earning an Oscar nom in 1945!
Thanks for unloading such clear images. They do her great justice. Gene was born in Brooklyn, New York, but raised in Connecticut. She attended finishing school in Switzerland.

Forgot to mention, Gene's birthday is in two days.I'm going to buy a special
bottle of pinot noir and drink a toast to her.

Gene knew she was beautiful, with not a trace of vanity. That's why you
never see any envious comments from women on any of the Tierney
forums.Even the ladies adored her beauty.I'm also pleased to see younger
generations, who have discovered her, are also enamoured.God bless that
special lady.

Gene Tierney was a great beauty and actress. What a great cast in this clip, George Sanders, Reginald Denny, Bruce Cabot.

@Livelovecherishelife This is from "Sundown." Think it's 1941. Someone has put up the entire film here. Hope you liked it! Best regards!

A memorable clip, once the plane's propellers stop. I nominate Nichole Kidman as Gene's 21st Century equal.

They just describe her as of Arab French mix. Later they go back on this and she says she is French.

A great cast the film rings no bells.Am I alone in thinking that there is a resemblance between Gene Tierney and Catherine Zeta Jones ?
