The word "Archaean" meaning "of the earliest geological age" comes from "Arkhaios" meaning Ancient, which comes from "Arkhe" meaning Beginning.
Arch, 1540s, "chief, principal," from prefix Arch- (from Arkhos "chief;"); used in 12c. archangel, etc., but extended to so many derogatory uses (arch-rogue, arch-knave, etc.) that it acquired a meaning of "roguish, mischievous"
Enigma; 1580s, earlier enigmate (mid-15c.), from L. aenigma "riddle," from Gk. ainigma (pl. ainigmata), from ainissesthai "speak obscurely, speak in riddles," from ainos "fable, riddle," of unknown origin.
I still have this great game on my snes!!It is till like as I have bought it yesterday!!what a great game that was!!!In addition it is collective nowadays and thank god I have it:P
Good quality video, hard to get them with out the annoying commentary, bad video clarity, and people who drop it in the middle of the playthrough. thanks for puting in all this work for anothers enjoyment. :)
@MrYelot To be honest, I don't really think I did a good job with this when I look back on it. The video quality is laggy and there is a few other things I'd like to fix. I also never got around to doing bonus videos of the debug room and other areas you can't normally access, which I originally planned on doing. I'm halfway tempted to do the whole thing over again, maybe someday. But yeah, Youtube doesn't have many good LPs. Something Awful is typically better when it comes to LPs.
Yeah, the only way I emulate stuff is if it never saw release in my country or if I already own the game but it's on a non portable device and I want to play it on the go.
It seriously should be legal to play games on emulator if they never arrived in the US/Europe, I'm not going to miss a great game just because Japan refused to let it outside their country.
I've never heard of this game before or even played it. I've only started playing just now because I've heard a lot of good opinions on it. I'll see if they hold up.
the intro scene over all was original how many times do you see a game where the hero is sleeping at the begining... Ironically the good games do this cliche like zelda and chrono trigger LOL. I think mario rpg might have also done it im not sure
Why don't ?! It is give good Gamepads they are similar with the original Pads. When you play it on full screen it is the same how on the TV with a snes console... The once it, that you are older an know that things. It is don't a new game for you... You know all, what you must do... That it is, what other in your feelings...
I don´t think I understand exactly what you mean by "you know all" and the rest, but I think that most of the experience come from the real snesgame, when you but it in the console and sitting in front of a tv instead of computer.
Agreed, it feels more personal that way ^^, like you and the game are all that's left in the world, but that didn't stop me from crying during the credits. I feel like a baby saying that but it's how I feel =P
I mean, fuck... that ending... just fuck man, fuck this shit, I'm fucking crying again, fuck... Too awesome to be described
It's worth it ^^, there are a few annoying places in the game, like that town in the desert (dunno if you got that far), but if you have a little patience, it's a great ride, and the ending is really worth it. I don't want to give any spoilers, so that's all I'm gonna say =P, good luck
One of the last truly great R.P.G's for the dear old SNES. I don't quite know how the programmers managed some of truly spectacular visual effects and stunning music in this game; it must've pushed the old system to its limits!
thanks for the upload. This game was one of the most memorable of my teens, along with mystic quest and Chronotrigger. A real shame these kind of games aren't made any more and all we are left with is the emo, way over the top final fantasy stuff
If you feel bad about it, you might design one of your own (not for the SNES or a console (also I am not chiding/chastising you)). JavaScript is a relatively easy language to learn, and with knowledge of it, and the Sphere rpg engine (google it), you can make your own games.
Indeed it is. In fact there's going to be a slight change in my newer videos once I get them released, too. All the videos I have up as of now are of the normal European version of Terranigma, but there's a patch to change the video format from PAL to NTSC that I did not know about until recently, that ups the speed and makes the animation smoother (the European version runs at 50 frames per second whereas the original Japanese version ran at 60) It's quite a noticeable change.

Ark etmology:
From "Arcanus": secret, hidden.
From "Arcere": close up, enclose, contain.
From "Arca": chest, box.

Terranigma: Terra meaning Earth and Enigma.
Enigma; 1580s, earlier enigmate (mid-15c.), from L. aenigma "riddle," from Gk. ainigma (pl. ainigmata), from ainissesthai "speak obscurely, speak in riddles," from ainos "fable, riddle," of unknown origin.

"The Tears of the outside world...."
Does that mean.... The world is crying for help??
Sorry, but I'm just a philosophical person here... I should play the game again to catch all of this!

It's the best Action/RPG games for the SNES ever made, in my opinion.
Anyway, nice Let's Play, I found it hard to find a Let's Play of Terranigma with a quite decent sound quality for some strange reason O-o ...

Yeah played it on the SNES, too,
but with a gamepad it`s also be playable with an emulator.
But who cares how to play it, just play it.
It`s an awesome game with a great story.
BTW the overworld themes are the best of it.
I just love the music of the game.
