Yeah. Did you ever read the storybook? I first read it in about early 1999 or so, 2nd semester of first grade.... either way, they had a still from that scene of E.T., and it was horrible. If anyone has that book still, check that page out: E.T. looks fucking EVIL, like he's laughing maniacally. Great movie, but it was fucking creepy.

the scariest scenes for me:

near the start of the movie when hes picking up the plants, when u just see his hand reach out, and the bit when it shows you him from a big distance walking-HIS WALK IS SO FUCKING TERRIFYING. when his ship leaves him and he does that walk down the hill, any time you see his fingers reach round the corner of a door the cornfield scene and of course when he finds eliot sleeping.

Same here, age and everything, ha. Yeah, I saw this in early 1994 or so... was not prepared. I mean, I;ve always enjoyed it, but that first half hour is so unexpectedly dark and ominous, and honestly, E.T. already LOOKS fucking creepy, but he also ACTED scary too. Listen to him, he's growling, making gross 'squishing' sounds... it's genuinely disturbing. I think I only had 2 or 3 nightmares about E.T. as a kid, and none anymore, but it still manages to put a chill down my spine.

I had dreams when I was little that I was trapped on E.T.'s planet and was surrounded by hundreds of the little things. Whenever I explain to people that this movie scares me, they immediately think I'm talking about the astronauts that invade the house, NOT TRUE!! Who else thinks its absolutely horrifying when "Michael" finds him in the forest laying there all pale and sick, and when he's in the bathroom reaching out for Eliot's mom. Also the music at the beginning when he gets left behind?

The first time I saw ET I was 8 years old, man that monster scared the hell out of me, the moment Eliot and ET scare each other in the cornfield I pied my pants. For manny nights during manny years I was unable to sleep at night. To me the creature looked so awfull and real.

They all startled and shot my nerves to hell. Today, that movie still creeps me out. Even John Williams' score (not the main theme, thank God), but other pieces of the soundtrack creep me out too.

The music I made on Soundtrack ("scoring" software on the iMac, in case you're not an Apple user). I think there was one brief horn interlude that's among the sound effects included in iMovie '08. And I got the "rustling leaves" sound effect near the beginning of trailer free online, but I don't remember where.
