Kudos! Very concisely and intriguingly delivered.

My standard parti is nigh on 8 mos. I just started teaching him to ride alongside my bike today. Great start! It's really going to be good for us. The Iditarod info was fascinating and encouraging as I've been thinking of a single dog sled for winter. We'll be starting tracking training in earnest VERY soon to ready for spring (poodles were used to track truffles, too). He (Joe) is a joyous, adventurous, kind heart; and I am one lucky dog!

I have owned poodles for years. toys, and now standards. I must say I really enjoy the standards, as they are total clowns. My poodle makes me laugh out loud everyday. He is such a joy, and what a great family dog, too. I had my last standard hit by a car and killed, and not since I was a kid have I been so hurt by the loss of a dog. The one I have now is hands down the best dog I have ever owned. I have a lab too, a great lab. But, for whatever reason, the poodles are friends, not a pet.

Thanks for a great video. I have one standard poodle, but I have had "medium" poodles earlier.

The only negative with this video is the volume on the melody. lower the melody, so it will become easier to hear the comments. :)

@JeffSegan1 My family is on our second Standard.Our first poodle passed away at the age of seven from kidney failure.We love the breed so much too.Their very smart.

People underestimate poodles, they are very powerful dogs, I had a friend awhile back who competed in serious shutzhund, one his friends practiced with a Standard Poodle.

Great vid! We have a Standard. Yes money is tight, and we are going to have to do it ourselves. We have Oster Clippers. I just need blades?  It came with a 30 and a10. I am scanning the internet on how to groom her. Thanks again

I have a toy poodle but some day really want a standard...why did you say they arent for someone if they plan on paying someone else 2 groom? I kind of groom my toy poodle but he gets cuts by a groomer every 7-8weeks...are u saying that one needs to know how to cut the dog themselves?

It's just that it can get very expensive and I know how money can be tight for people who can't afford a groomer.Me and my older sister trim our own Standard Poodle.

by groom it means 'groom' i.e. by a 'groom'er.

someone that will groom your dog.

cut it, clip it, clean it etc.

with a standard the price of the grooming is quite high, so overall it is better to learn by yourself to save money in the long run.

BTW, unlike toys, standards actually need a LOT of excercise and mental stimulation, so don't think its anything like your toy poodle.

(I have a miniatur epoodle, who I've learnt to groom)

The first response I recieved did answer my question.

BTW I never said that the standard was anything like my toy poodle??so I DONT think nor did I ever think the two breeds are the same. I am already aware that standards have different exercise requirements(among others) ...thats one of the reasons I do not own a standard at this point in my life.
