  • Finally hit 35,849 now it took awhile but it there now.....thank u for the videos and finds too..bye

  • I'm from Australia and it's great to hear this with lyrics. I'm not exactly sure which Archie show we got over here, but I'm used to hearing the slightly shorter instrumental version during the end credits.. It's a great piece of music ( if a little repeditive without words :P). As a kid I made a "holding a tape recorder up to the tv speaker" cassette recording once that I still have somewhere..

  • @MrLehnerd Took a while to get there, but little by little, the numbers are growing!!!!

  • I had all the Archie's LPs over 40 years ago! Wish i still had them

  • @oldermuscleguy They still show up quite frequently on eBay, and the original LP's as well as their now digital counterparts are available from Amazon.

  • I've been looking for this for ages! I didn't even know it had lyrics! I just knew the instrumental version. Love it! Thanks!

  • For being born in August 1969, I'm just barely old enough to remember first-run Archies cartoons before they ended in 1972, otherwise they pretty much immediately went into syndication, so they were new to me. I do have a broad and deep appreciation for music, so there is a CD release of 'The Best of The Archies' in my CD collection.

  • Did I saw that correcty? During the end titles I saw the great Don Bluth as designer!!!

  • @MichaelCapelle Don Bluth worked on the 1969 CBS-TV special "Archie and His New Pals" that this music segment was shown on during the closing credits. This music segment was created for "The Archie Comedy Hour" and not part of the special, even though it was shown during the closing credits... that is why the song segment shows characters such as Ophelia, Hot Dog Jr. and Chili Dog, who were not in the special.

  • Never heard this song before. AWESOME!!!!!!! INTENSE TOO!!!!!

  • @blackonyx2002 It was definitely one of the stronger tracks from their Jingle Jangle album. Probably would have cracked the Top 10 at the time if Kirshner Records had released it as a single. From what I have heard, it was "supposed" to be the next single after "Sugar, Sugar", but was put on the back burner so that 'Jingle Jangle" could be released as a single instead.

  • Dug out one of my old Star Trek paperbacks and inside it is an advertisement for selected authentic hand-painted film "cels" from the aminated ST show produced by Filmation Studios. The ad was dated 1977 and the cels went for $20.00 apiece plus $1.50 S & H (too rich for me back then!) They were obviously cashing in on ST's popularity. One of the ST characters (Christine Chapel) looks amost identical to Sabrina. Think something like this could have happened with the Archie shows?

  • @wainoco318 Most of the Filmation Star Trek cels are probably in the hands of collectors by now. However, cels from the various Filmation Archie shows are available on eBay all the time... usually mixing two or more cels together over a background. The style sheets used in animation the Archie characters were also used in animating the Star Trek characters, so it is no coincidence that there are similarities in the characters looks and actions. Filmation reused a LOT of stuff between shows.

  • The first "Archies" show on T.V. was about 1967 if I remember right. It had started out with the band playing saying - "Reggie's here", but where's Jughead? Then - "Archie's here" etc. through all the main characters, then finally - "And here comes Jughead and Hot Dog too - now everything's Archie, so come on let's go with the Archie show" ... This is from an early distant memory, it may still exist on film.

  • @dynagravitomagnetic So that 'Archie's here, Reggie's here' intro doesn't just exist in my imagination? Thanks for confirming, I was beginning to think I had a false memory! And thanx to blackonyx2002 I now know 'Get On The Line' was indeed released on an LP, GREAT song!

  • @Nooz2Me First track of the second side of the "Jingle Jangle" LP... the Archies' third LP. The LP was released around 1999 on remastered DVD under the title of "Archies Party"... somewhat obscure on the RKO Unique label, but still able to be found from time to time on Amazon and eBay.

  • @dynagravitomagnetic Yes, it is the theme song from "The Archie Show" from 1968 and the first track on their first LP. "The Archie Show" has been released as a complete DVD boxset, containing all 17 30-minute episodes. While it is out of print, it is still available on Amazon and eBay. Make sure to get the COMPLETE boxset, and not the new DVD that only has 10 segments (5 episodes).

  • @windsorbear this brings back sunny days of the sixties. thank you for the excellent bit of information. I will be sure to take heed. that really chaps my hide when purchasing a boxed set includes only a select few segments. - may the power of light and compassion be your guiding light as the universe blesses you.

  • 0:13 super-cute! I squee-ed from the cuteness!

  • Grreat song... I see this was loaded on my birthday in 2008. What a great present!

  • @usnjake Glad you like it. And happy belated birthday then...

  • Hey! this rocks! But Miss Grundy dancing? The world is about to end !

  • @MrJorlop Miss Grundy likes to dance! Check out the thermos bottle that came in the old Archies lunchbox from 1969... there's a picture of her dancing on that too.

  • Thank you for posting this.

    This sure brings back memories.

The Archies were favorites of mine back in the 1960's and '70's.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • This was one of the Archies' funkiest songs. Listen to the song's hot organ playing.

  • @shadejford Check out the instrumental version that is posted. You can REALLY hear the organ in that one.

  • @windsorbear You ain't kiddin'! I just heard it. 'Reminds me the wicked organ from Question Mark and the Mysterians' "96 Tears."

  • Does anyone have the instrumental of this?

  • @canuckoz Go to this video... v=9AGZh3xwUGg

  • "Get on the line!"

  • I love this!

  • I prefer the version of THE SWEET much more.

  • The Archies TV show is still shown on the RTV network.

  • Funny, my memory of the ending of this Archies show was the backing track of You Know I Love You. Because I had the cereal box version with the words and I remember some of the shows ending with You Know I Love You backing track, of course it was edited down to about 1:40 for the closer. Anyone else remember that?

  • There actually was no such band as the Archies. It was just a group of session musicians brought together by Don "Monkees" Kirshnier. The lead singer (who sadly is no longer with us) was Ron Dante, who would become Barry Manilow's long-time producer.

  • Uh.... unless Ron has passed within the last few days, as far as I know, he is still VERY MUCH ALIVE, and still performing. I'm pretty sure if Ron passed, I would have heard about it by now. He still has a very large fan base.

  • It wasn't his sister, although Archie Comics finally did give Jughead a little sister named Jellybean in the comics. Think it started in the 90's. As for the girl in the music segment, just another misc. Filmation creation.

  • If only could find the instrumental version. What a great ring tone it would make.

  • Been looking for this music for ages. Brings back so many memories. Where does the time go? In Australia however, at the end of each Archies show, this music played without the singing. Does anyone know where to find just the music without the singing. I still think this tune could be a hit today. Thanks for posting this.

  • Hey!....thanks for posting!

Brings back great memories of growing up in the late 60's - early 70's era.

The kid that lived across the street had the "Jingle Jangle" LP that contained this song. The record was in bad shape, so he had to tape pennies to the tonearm of his 'suitcase' type record player so it wouldn't skip!

  • Sounds like that kid and I both had the same record player.

  • You're right about the missing vocals. Her line "Clap your hands, say yeah---oh, oh, yeah!" is not in this version. The Archies (or at least the people performing their songs) was my very first concert. I was in the 4th or 5th grade. Thanks for all of your posts and information. It's amazing that so many people are fans after all of these years!!

  • i love the archies!!!!!!

  • Archies forever! Thanks Ron and Toni! Also ,Donna for the vocals on Who's Your Baby, one of my personal favorites!

  • sounds sorta like the beatles

  • What's also rare is the original opening and closing to The Groovie Goolies and Sabrina from 1970-71. I wish that would turn up.

  • I have the audio track for the "Sabrina and the Groovie Goolies" opening theme, but not the video.

  • @windsorbear I remember that the original theme had the line, "It's time for the Goolies and Sabrina," but all versions of the song heard now seem to only say "time for the Goolies get-together." Don't recall if there were any other differences -- is yours the original then? Be nice to have that uploaded, even if to a still picture!

  • Mine is the original. It has a lot more reverb in it, and a lot of sound effects as the original opening had a lot of misc Goolie and Sabrina video clips. The "revised" opening for the Goolies only is mostly a chopped up version of the animation from the music segment "Monster Trio."

  • Windsorbear, thanks for all the "Archie" vids it really takes me back...to the cereal box records of The Archies. Its a shame Filmation lost most of the film prints though...everyone always credits Scooby-Doo for starting the teenage cartoon trend of the 70's but it was Archies who actually started it.

  • wow i didnt know the archies started scooby doo! wow! i feel bad for them cuz scooby doo was more popular than the archies, but idk much cuz im only 12, born 1997. my mom collected some from the 60s 70s 80s and 90s and i have them and i started collecting them iun 2007.

  • Welcome aboard the Old School Toon train Droxgirl!!! The Archie Show debuted in 1968 and Scooby Doo followed in 1969 both shows were on CBS back then. Keep on collecting and enjoying!!! =0)

  • Yeah, I did off air tapes of Archie's Funhouse in the late 70's when it was shown here in Australia. The "hey Jughead" thing reminded me of the ending to that "and here comes Jughead and Hot Dog, too, so everything's Archie... come on let's go with the Archie show"... But the ending was definitely an instrumental because when I bought the Get on the Line album in the late eighties I was astounded to hear words, having always thought it was an instrumental.

  • I always thought this would've made a great single!

  • Hey Windsorbear,

As others have said, in Australia the instrumental version of this was used at the end of "The Archie Show" whilst the beginning had the "where's Jughead" song.

I dinstinctively remember this as I have always loved this music & didn't realise it had words until I bought a Archies cd with it on it. I have half heartedly been on the lookout for the instr. vers since hearing it played on Aus radio JJJ about 20 years ago early in the morning.

    Cheers

  • Here in the states, an instrumental version of the song has never been released or used in any of the various Archie cartoon series. However, the apparent popularity of the instrumental version of that song in Australia may be one reason why The Archies "Jingle Jangle" album was renamed as the "Get On The Line" album in Australia. It was the first track on side two.

  • @windsorbear Thanks for that. I dont know if you have heard the instrumental version only. It is very good and in my opinion is better than the version with the words. The Archies are very good nonetheless.

  • Me too.

I remember it from sat morning cartoons

    Finally found the tune tonight.

  • omgch omgsh what channel?!?!?

  • @thomcorp Hey mate. I am glad I am not the only one who remembers the great instrumental version. Have you had any luck finding it. I hate to say it but the lyrics sort of take a bit away from the music. Having said that though, it is a very good song. I wonder why only the instrumental was played here in Australia and not in US. Cartoons today dont even come close to these classics (not that I watch cartoons now, the kids do). Cheers

  • @thomcorp - Not quite correct - we got the original Archie series here in Australia pretty much exactly as it was shown in the US (vocal "Hey Jughead" as the opening, the closer used the same tune with the final "C'mon let's go with the Archie show" line removed), the later Archie / Sabrina Show was the one that had "Get On The Line" as the opening AND closing theme, using most of this clip with overlaid titles.

  • @Conniptions886

I'm not really sure what you are saying is incorrect. I was primarily confirming what others had said about the instrumental version of 'Get on the Line' being used in Australia.

Are you saying the vocal version was used? If so, I sure don't remember it.

Also, I don't remember ' Get on the Line' ever being used for the opener either.

  • @thomcorp - I was referring specifically to this: "As others have said, in Australia the instrumental version of this was used at the end of "The Archie Show" whilst the beginning had the "where's Jughead" song".

They're two entirely different programs - in Australia, the original Archies series from 1969 had the "Hey Jughead" theme at beginning and end, both with vocals. The later "Archie & Sabrina Show" had "Get On The Line" at beginning and end, both were instrumental...

  • @Conniptions886

Cool. I must admit my memory really doesn't extend far enough to distinguish between the different shows. I certainly however, don't remember 'Get On the Line' ever being used for an opener. I believe you, but I just don't remember it. What vision did they have for it?

  • @thomcorp - vision was pretty much the same as what's in this clip - title was overlaid, is the main difference. Although I recall the face shot of Sabrina was different - just a head shot of her blinking, not smiling (may well be wrong on that!), and the shot of her throwing her ball of magic was earlier (no "zing" sound, either, I think).

Seriously long as an opening credit, and as a closer - ran right up until the key change in the verse at 1:12!

  • @thomcorp - HEY!! Just found the opening and closing creds I've been referring to!! Spanish version, opening creds have a Spanish voiceover - other than that, both opening and closing creds are EXACTLY as I remember - the different shot of Sabrina, no sound effect on the "magic ball", and organ (towards the end of the closing creds) that isn't on "Get On The Line" :

    Opening: watch?v=ypMR_dp2eic

    Closing: watch?v=wQ39aimK7i8

  • @Conniptions886

Well done CK. What a fantastic piece of music. Much better as an instrumental.

I'd love to track down a copy of the full song like I heard on Triple J all those years ago.

    Cheers

  • If i'm not mistaken, I saw Big Ethel in the audience and she's not even in the special Archie and his new pals. Wonder who let that retard on the show in the first place.

  • Be nice. There are a lot of characters in the song that were not in the special. The "Get On The Line" music segment was created for The Archie Comedy Hour which had these characters in it. It was later decided to use it for the closing credits of the New Pals special, even though it had not been shown on Comedy Hour yet.

  • if filmnation created the characters u saw and forget use why on earth did they decide to not put in story board n stuff

  • Besides Miss Grundy and Mr. Weatherbee, who were the other adults in this cartoon? I think Archie's Dad and Veronica's Dad are there.

  • The adults are Mr. Weatherbee, Miss Grundy, Coach Kleats, Pop Tate (of The Chocolate Shoppe), and Mr. Lodge (Veronica's father).

  • Cool...thank you! I almost thought Mr. Lodge was Mr. Flutesnoot, but he had more hair than Flutesnoot and of course had a shorter nose! :)

  • To the best of my knowledge, the following characters were never animated by Filmation, for whatever reason.... Mr. Flutesnoot, Miss Beasley, Miss Hagley, Mr. Svenson, Jughead's parents and Betty's parents. Archie's dad was only shown a couple of times, and I can only remember one instance of Archie's Mom being shown. Of course, Veronica's Mom and Reggie's parents weren't animated either, but they weren't shown very much in the comic books either. And this was before Jughead's little sister.

  • For Archie characters snubbing out: Chuck Clayton didn't join until 1974's U.S. of Archie. And in 1977 there was 2 new characters created for the New Archie/Sabrina Show: Q the Robot and Carlos (voiced by Jose Flores, who previously starred in Filmation's live action Ark II the following year).

Even after Filmation ended its Archie relationship, we have seen new Archie comic characters like Cheryl Blossom, Ginger Lopez, and Raj.

  • I would guess it was because Filmation could only use so many characters in one show. Look at Star Trek, for example. They left out Walter Koenig who played Mr. Checkov, though he wrote an episode called The Infinite Vulcan.

  • some of the archie characteres remembers my class pals specially moose

  • Howard Morris all did the janitor on the jetson to.... and did jet streamer n that fellow sang the bedrock twist to.... so howard Morris was doin alot oh and he did Mr pibbles also....for the M.Gorilla show....if like that to

  • I've never dealt with 16mm before, so I really don't know what to do with it. Since it's in film negative form, I'm assuming that it will first have to put back into film positive form before it can be transferred to a different media... or can 16mm machines play the sound track in either positive or negative? I would love to get these things viewable, just to be able to post the opening and closing themes that are using "Get On The Line", apparently in instrumental version per the comments.

  • Well, by then, Kirshner & Filmaton had parted ways as far as a working partnership, so I guess Filmation was thinking it would never use the Archies song segment animation cels again, and partially reused them for "Brady Kids". Guess they never thought about old Archies stuff going into reruns on CBS and later into syndication... and then "new" Archies appearing in the "US of Archie" and "The New Archie / Sabrina Hour". New clothes, but the same old animation movements.

  • Comment removed

  • howard Morris was the voice of jughead and i think another on show

  • According to the booklet that came with "The Archie Show" DVD boxset, besides voicing Jughead, Howard also provided the voices for Big Moose, Pop Tate, and Dilton Doiley.

  • Oh wow! I j ust noticed 'Howard Morris' did one of the voices. For those who dont know, Morris played 'Ernest T Bass' on Andy Griffith (directed some eps too). Morris probably did the voice of Jughead in this cartoon. :)

  • Comment removed

  • LOL! Great! I remember that one. Veronica Lodge's Father, and Mr. Weatherbee!

Life is going by too fast.

  • Here's an interesting tidbit for big fans of The Archies like me-The Sweet, that hard-rockin' 70's group from the UK ("Little Willy", "Ballroom Blitz", "Fox On The Run", "Love Is Like Oxygen",) have alot in common with The Archies! When they first started out, thety named The Archies as one of their inspirations, along with The Monkees and The Who. You can hear The Archies 'influence in The Sweet's first hit, "Funny Funny". In 1972 The Sweet also recorded "Get On The Line"! I have the record!

  • this is one groovy tune ...i still have all their 45s and albums...this song was my fave

  • It should have been released as a 45. I still don't know why it wasn't. It would have easily hit the Top 10, and probably would have been The Archies third gold single.

  • The character of Chuck hadn't been created yet, so that guy was an earlier incarnation. The girl in the glasses was Ophelia, and the guy with the hat was Spencer. They were created in 1969 by Filmation, along with Harvey, Aunt Zelda, Miss Della, Salem, Hexter, and Ambrose specifically for "The Archie Comedy Hour". Some of the characters were incorporated into the Archie comic books; some were not. I think Archie Comics created Aunt Hilda, but it may have been Filmation.

  • Chuck Clayton didn't become an animated character until the ill-fated U.S. Of Archie in 1974.

  • It's me again. Ophelia, the girl in the glasses, sort of reminds me of Miss Tickle, from Mission: Magic. Besides resembling Velma (Scooby-Doo), I knew that she resembled someone else, but I couldn't quite put my finger on it at first.

  • Ophelia and Spencer were interesting characters, but their only major story was the very first Sabrina segment from the first "Archie Comedy Hour". Ophelia was in love with Spencer, but Spencer avoided her like the plague. These traits were soon transferred over to Big Ethel and Jughead, and a lot of subsequent Sabrina segments from "Comedy Hour" centered around Big Ethel scheming to get Jughead, and Sabrina becoming involved. Ophelia and Spencer became minor background characters afterwards.

  • Besides the upcoming marriage proposal storyline, there was a recent one where Moose and Midge broke up. Betty tried to get them back together. However, she did more harm than good. Do you or anyone else know how that came out?

  • Am assuming you are talking about storylines in the current Archie comics series? I haven't bought a current Archie comic since the 90's, so I don't know what stories they are doing now. For whatever reason, I got ticked off when they decided to redesign Jughead's mother... and especially when it was decided to dabble in drawing the storys in manga-style format. And nobody seems to get the characters looking right for me since the late, great Dan DeCarlo was fired.

  • I have noticed that they are trying to get the characters' looks updated. There is another story going where the gang looks that some woods and a park are being destroyed for development. Then they learn that Mr. Lodge (Veronica's father) is behind it. That was also done on Happy Days when the gang learned that Howard Cunningham (Richie & Joanie's father) was going to destroy Inspiration Point for the booming interstate highways.

  • Good to see all the Archie characters, but there was one that was missing. Where was Harvey, Sabrina's boyfriend?

  • Watch the beginning of the video again. Around 00:12, Harvey is sitting next to Sabrina in the audience, and they are holding hands.

  • Okay. But it's been awhile, though. The black guy was Chuck if I'm not mistaken, and the girl in the glasses...well, is it just me, or did she look like Velma from Scooby-Doo? Riverdale meets Coolsville. Imagine that. And don't forget about Midvale (Josie's home).

  • very sixties !

  • I love this tune.... But not the lyrics.

Is there a video of just the tune as it aired on TV?

  • Not that I know of. In the US, the song was only aired with the lyrics, and the video was only shown as a song segment of "The Archie Comedy Hour" and also included at the end of "Archie and His New Pals" as is posted here.

  • I agree with cpsumx because I remember that when I was a kid I used to watch Archie and Sabrina, and at the end of each program they played the instrumental version or this song, and this is the one I' love to hear again if possible, does anybody have it, please?

  • The "Archie & Sabrina" show was not shown in the US... at least not by that title. In the US, it was shown as "Everything's Archie" in 1973, and had a different theme. I personally have never heard an instrumental version of "Get On The Line" and would love to hear it myself. INTERESTINGLY ENOUGH.... I do have a couple of positive B&W 16mm film masters of the "Archie & Sabrina" show as it was exported to Brazil. If I ever get these transferred to something watchable, I will post the theme.

  • WOW! Don Bluth designed the shows production.

Nice! Imagine what the show could have been if they had turned him loose.

  • I agree. The "Archie and His New Pals" special had a very nice layout, and it was much different from any of the Archie cartoon series that was before it, or followed it. It also included a lot of great animation; most of which never got used again, which was very, very unusual for Filmation.

  • I'm disappointed that the Archie Comedy Hour segs are apparently gone. I recall Nursey Rhyme started with a hand-clap sequence... it always seemed they wanted to cut out Toni! Also I always kinda liked that A-R-C-H-I-E theme song! :>

  • It's been almost 40 years since I last saw it, but I remember Nursery Rhyme's intro to have a hand clap and foot stomp intro, and then go straight into the song without Toni's "Hey, Hey, Hey, Hey". They cut out some of Toni's background vocals on the "Get On The Line" segment as well. It would be interesting to see how many other differences are in the "Comedy Hour" music segments versus the tracks on the "Jingle Jangle" album. Maybe someday they will show up.

  • Well gang, after scouring the internet for months and months, trying to locate someone who has the missing music segments from "The Archie Comedy Hour", I've come to the realization that they no longer exist in any form. Nobody seems to have them, and very few people seem to even remember them, let alone know what happened to them. Only the "Sugar, Sugar", "Jingle Jangle" and "Get On The Line" music segments exist in any form. The other 13 are apparently forever lost. Very sad.

  • I think--and windsorbear would probably know-- that when "Archie and His New Pals" was rebroadcast, the end credits footage was used ("Love, Love, Love" and all) with the then-current "Who's Your Baby". I think the show was retitled "Archie's Sugar Sugar, Jingle-Jangle Show." : >

  • The show was slightly edited for the rebroadcast to allow the "Sugar, Sugar" and "Jingle Jangle" music segments from "Comedy Hour" to be tacked on at the end. I do not remember what they used for closing credits, but I'm almost 100% sure that "Who's Your Baby?" was not included in any way. They were hurting for time so bad, that I "think" they ran super-fast credits over the end of "Jingle Jangle" as it played, but don't hold me to that.

  • I won't because I remember it pretty well, lol, because Whose Your Baby, I recall, was re-edited by cutting out the opening talk and starting with the sort of gospel humming sequence near the end, then into the song. I remember it pretty well as being the Get on the Line credits. What I suddenly remembered is that Sugar Sugar and Jingle Jangle were pretty edited!

  • pardon me sirs but I believe I can remember what you are talking about despite being only 30 because I think the last time Archie cartoons were re-aired in syndication in the early 80's on KBHK 44 San Francisco had scored with the unedited prints of all the variations of the Archies series cartoons. But I can be mistaken. I just do remember "who's your baby" (but not by name ) by keithcops description of the end credits. I hope you are wrong about the segments being lost. Check with TV stations

  • What a memory!!! I remember this song very well... it was circa 1976 and it was aired in Mexico... but it was the instrumental version... If only you have it...

  • Umm... I remember this show was aired in Peru back in the 90s, but it had the instrumental version of this song. Never knew the song title until now. Thanks :)

  • See? Who ever said that bunch of cartoon kids from the 'burbs couldn't get down and funky with it?

  • well just let u know i still look at these still again so...i must be a cool fellow are very strange..lol anyway enjoy what u have on here always:)

  • I know when they did song for cartoon they had more people with there intermunts playin also not see on cartoon(sorry if mispelled a word)..I guess jeff barry was a heck of a song writer...sure not see this anymore again

  • Oh my i remember this well the song durin archie show in between jughead n hot dog dance n song after...with toni wine vocal..Cause i remember tapin audio on a cass.tape in 1969...However it was lost when house burn down sorry.

  • Yes and thanks for windsorbear find n put on here now some one else has put u video on here he to late n beside u video is better clearer..

  • OH MY GOD!!! Thanks so much for posting this!!! I haven't seen this in SEVERAL DECADES---I almost thought I just IMAGINED seeing this on Nigerian tv in the early to mid 70's(since I didn't see it before or since on American tv) until, on a lark, I purchased an "Archies" cassette years back (in the now defunct) Tower Records store. The moment I heard the song on tape, I knew my memories were real, and your posting confirms it IN LIVING COLOR! Now I know why I didn't see it in the US THANKS

  • Thank you for your reply. How come this cartoon is not on tv, its really good. Thanks for posting.

  • Have been searching for this clip for years... for a long time I though I'd imagined this end title sequence! I can verify that this was definitely used as the opening and closing of "The Archie/Sabrina Show" here in Australia on the Nine network which I think was televised on and off between '73 - '77. Only question is the fluctuating sound levels on the clip...

  • Fluctuating sound levels caused by the conversion program I used. Thanks for verifying the use of the video for "The Archie / Sabrina Show" Here in the US, the video was not used for the opening or closing of any regular Archie series, but the untitled version was used as a song video segment on "The Archie Comedy Hour" for one of the episodes.

  • gee this be agreat song for Obama now would it not

  • I must scared people away for comments..lol

  • No, you didn't scare anybody away. I just don't get on here much anymore. This is the first time I have checked the comments in several weeks.

  • Man i still have these on my Fav file on Pc so when go get on Internet explorer just click n wham bam bang and i here oldes and i be 52 soon like next March

  • if i remember don messick did voice of Mr weatherbee n salem the cat hot dog n hotdog Jr n chile dog...

  • This is the theme music I mostly remembered as a kid....strangely it had no singing though, just music.

  • Interesting that you remember this music as theme music. I don't recall it every being used as such for a domestic Archie show. The Archies syndicated show in 1976/77 (and maybe 78) had closing theme music that repeated over and over, and was a bit similar to the melody of "Get On The Line". Can you give me a timeframe of when you remember this from?

  • I remember this from the mid 70's, maybe around '76? I'm in Australia and it was a long time ago, it may have been just the closing theme. Having said that, some other people I know remember this theme especially and others don't.

  • I also remember an instrumental version that was heard in every chapter's closing, with the same images shown here. This melody lingered in my mind for 30 years or more, and only today I heard it again in your posting.

  • Thanks Joe, I wasn't going senile...

  • Definitely not - the version shown in Australia was instrumental only, opening and closing...

  • hey, anyone remember a live action archies t.v. special in the 70's... i clearly remembered was that there was this song that the archies did called "sorry to break our date". it was acted out like the brady bunch show's opening sequence with everyone on the phone..archie wanted to date veronica and she had a date with reggie, who broke a date with midge...anyway, they all called to break the dates they had..only, it all backfired and archie was alone in the end...anyone else saw it?

  • I don't remember it... but then again, I remember an Archie TV special shown in 1971 on ABC that nobody else seems to remember either. It was a pilot, and they showed a live Archies band playing a song in the middle of the show. Ron Dante says it wasn't him, and he doesn't remember the show either. I know I did not imagine it.

  • All the Archies cartoon were shown on CBS & NBC.

  • Mostly they were on CBS, but they aired on NBC under the name of The New Archie/Sabrina Hour (later split as Bang Shang La La Palooza and Sabrina, Super Witch) in 1977-78. Sadly, it was the last Filmation produced version of The Archies (though DIC did a 1980s version called The New Archies with the gang as junior high kids) that aired on network tv.

  • Then in 1990 there was a live action Archies movie "To Riverdale and Back Again" and in 1999 a new Archies cartoon aired on PAX called "Archie's Weird Mysteries".

  • kinda shock no one else as watch u stuff i just want u to know i thank u for puttin them Up n stuff

  • You're very welcome.

  • u know for not many watch u videos i have everyday now am i odd....I hope am i love it

  • still like filmation sound affects graphics were top in all around...in 69 n beyond just shame they were sold away after doin she-ra n he-man n countless others n bad ones like the brady kids...i think filmation did them

  • Yeah, Filmation did The Brady Kids. In fact, they copied the movements of The Archies for The Brady Kids when they sang. Talk about your reused animation. Did they really think that nobody would notice?

  • Thanks for posting this I haven't seen this since they first showed it in 69 ! Some video's that I would l would love to see if anyone has them are : You know I Love You , Everything's Alright , and Archie's Party for the Archie Comedy Hour .

  • I would love to see them also. Unfortunately, they are part of the 13 missing music segments from "The Archie Comedy Hour". Hopefully all 13 will someday be found and released so we can enjoy them all again.

  • @willc1975 Hey... the "You Know I Love You" video has finally been found (not the best quality though) and has been posted online. Still looking for the rest.
