So beautiful...definately my favorite instrumental piece by Debussy! This particular performance is so expressive and emotional. Debussy's mastery of innovative harmonies is certatinly reflected in this haunting and lovely piece.
I have been searching for this music for several years, since way before the beginning of my love for classical music...everything I had was a remembrance of the introduction, which led me to research about the use of "dies irae" theme...can't belive I missed this piece, specially as it appears to be rather well known. Thank you for uploading this performance.
Svetlanov was a colorist and wizard in the manner of Stokowski; many thanks for sharing this gorgeously atmospheric and evocative performance! I think the tempo is perfect.
