I think you played just fine :)  not every gamer can be a super-powered speed demon that has calculated every single jump and perfectly timed everything. those who have should be congratulated, but youtube should not be restricted to videos of casual gamers having fun :) this was a fine playthrough and it's refreshing to see some casual playthroughs than the usual speedy runthroughs. it's nice to just sit back and enjoy the game sometimes.

most people forget that in the star levels, you have to use the regular exit in addition to the key hole exits to be able to get 100% complete. I think there are only 94 levels anyway, so you're close.

This game demonstrated some of the very best SNES had to offer. It was a wonderful game and still is. Excellent graphics, quality and gameplay. I remember the day I first opened my SNES with this game included. It all smelled sooo good. You know? That new out of the box scent. :]

Ahh, brings back memories....This is the first game I ever played! It's also one of my favorite games of all time! I can't imagine why some people would rather play Sonic the Hedgehog than a true master piece like this.

Because by the the time the 16-bit consoles came out, the kids who played on the NES during their early years had grown up and thought that the NES was too "kiddy" for their tastes. Along comes Sega with their Mega Drive (or Genesis, however you like it) to introduce Sonic to the "hardcore" gamers. They continued still thinking the SNES was too "kiddy" also.
