I have met Dr. Gunapala. He is truly a great scientist. It is unfortunate that scientists like Dr. Gunapala are not given a chance to establish themselves in SL. Unless you are a medical doctor or a dirty or hardnosed politician, it is extremely difficult to succeed in SL. In general Sri Lankans only talk about the how good the end products are, but do not understand the pain involved in the scientific R&D to create those products. Comple overhaul of SL scientific institutes required.
