  • great... writing on a clipboard makes a great video

  • Ever notice how the people from expert villiage are rarely experts lol

  • Im going back to college and I want to acquire a double major in accounting and something else but I am not sure what. What would be a good 2nd major to accompany my accounting degree? I was leaning toward mathematics or economics. Any suggestions?

  • @condor797 computer science (anything in IT)

  • @condor797 Im an accountant and I KNOW that the best second major is Management Information Systems.

  • accounting knowledge is essential to anyone who wants to successfully own a business.

  • RULE THE TUBE 2010 - CAuse you CAn

This video will convince you to become an accountant.

  • Was this video posted before the recession? The job market is already flooded; it's extremely difficult to find work, especially in metropolitan areas. Just try to find a tiny CPA firm.

  • @d1664256 I live in one of the poorest states in the country, and it is extremely easy to find a good paying job right out of college if you have an undergrad in accounting and a decent GPA. The job market isn't flooded by any means. There are all kinds of opportunities out there in both public and corporate throughout the country.

  • @Axel15810 What state are you in? I got a degree and can't find anything here in Arkansas. Write me at AR72908@yahoo.com

  • good introductory video for people who are trying to learn about accounting at a very basic level

  • I am 14 years old. How can i be a successful accountant. What should i do?

  • @786shadowz

First, grow up a little bit.

  • I am a young professional with a Marketing Degree who has struggled to get into the field I majored in. Its been 4 years since I got a Bachelors Degree and I barely make 30k working overtime in a job I hate. I am out of patience and am thinking about going back to school and getting an Accounting major. Is this a good move? Does anyone know if the enrollment in that field has boosted since the recession? Do you see accounting being outsourced in the future to save companies money?

  • You should go and get it! If you can transfer your credits towards it.. so it will only take you 2 years..

However. You will need an accounting designation after your accounting degree. If you dont you will make no more than 35k and you will be busting your chops. If you just start an accounting designation... doors will open instantly. Accounting designation only cost like 1 or 2 thousand dollars a year. But while you work! Therefore you are most likely to pay off any "losses"

  • What is the main difference between an Accounting Designation and just working for a company other than more income potential? How long have you been in accounting? Also I hear the test to become certified is pretty tough once you get the degree, is this true as well? I really appreciate your feedback on my post, its very helpful.

  • @bowflexor When you say accounting designation, is this the same thing as a CPA, or is it different?

  • @anythung22 There are 3 accounting designations in Canada and they are: Chartered Accountant (CA), Certified General Accountant (CGA) and Certified Management Accountant (CMA). CPA is a United States designation.

  • @bowflexor

what do you mean by degsination?

  • @funkmaster8219

man that sux, happens so much, and nothing is worse than working a job you hate. hope it goes well for you.

  • @funkmaster8219 Every company needs an accountant :)

  • booooooooooooooooriiiiiiiiiiiiiiing

  • I'm studying accounting right now and it's boring. It's hard and it sucks. If it weren't for the demand for accountants, I wouldn't be studying it.

  • yes its boring, but you can do so many different things after you get your accounting designation. its easier to be a manager.

  • @bowflexor I can't get accounting designation. I must complete my major with a 70% final grade on all Accounting courses throughout my 3 years of study. And I am unable to achieve such grade.

  • @megamunchit2008 " ...it's boring. It's hard and it sucks."

That's why I switch majors a while back.

  • @fc007 I actually just finished my major in Accounting. (So happy). Just out of curiosity, what major did you switch to?

  • @megamunchit2008 I switched from accounting to mathematics.

Nothing wrong with accounting, I was actually doing good, I just didn't want a future in as an accounting. I love math but as I advanced throughout the courses, I accounting seems more like legal work than math. I wanted to major in mathematics.

  • @megamunchit2008 Oh, and huh congratulation. Best of luck on the CPA exam, if that is want you're aiming for.

  • @fc007 I see. I had a guy in my class who actually got his bachelor degree in mathematics. He now changed his mind and decided to study accounting instead. How strange? Here in Canada, it's called a CGA exam. You must be from the States. I might go for my CGA exam, but I will need 2 years experience before I can write the test.

  • @fc007 And thank you. :) Yes, Accounting does lean towards legal work, but I also think it can help you control a business for anyone who's interested in opening up their own business. (Me)

  • yeah im with supernatdan04...tell us how hard accounting is....before we just blindly jump into accounting tell us what we shud expect when studyin accounting. is it hard?? is it really all math?? tell us fully. what does it take to be great at it? these are things we all wanna kno bfore we take the leap. what are acc professors like? whats it like working in a big 4 acc firm? are the ppl who work in acc nice? are they fun 2 work with or are they a buncha no-lives? how do you make As in accntg?

  • @Duhkid075 "is it really all math??"

I actually can answer that. Accounting isn't math, although they deal with numbers, it's more about law than math.

Think of accountants as glorified legal secretaries that are good with the basics of arithmatic.

I, on the other hand, am actually a mathematician, and trust me I'm the last person to go to handle your company's accounts and tax issues.

  • @fc007 A bit harsh!! :) Obtaining a designation is hard work and I wouldn't compare it secretarial work at all! The standards are very high and you need an undergraduate degree and specified courses; coupled with many hours of related work.

This video doesn't give the profession justice, at all. You may be thinking of Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable work, which is very entry level, it also doesn't require a great amount of analytical skill. A good account will move beyond that!

  • I think I was reacting to the false comparison often made between accountants and mathematicians. It seems that people think all one needs to do to be a accountant is to know math when they have no idea what either feild really consist of. Granted that accounting and mathematics are both demanding field they are two different beast. Accountants deal with legal work, numbers and the intepretation of them which involves analysis; but accounting isn't math despite the numbers.

  • @Duhkid075 Account is deadly. If you don't have the brain power to handle constant information and stress this career is not for you. I can tell you, I'm heading to my second year of Uni, half the class fails.

  • @andrei644

    ur saying its hard?

  • bbbbbbbbbbbbooooooring!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @larrysr9 then dont watch fag

  • how much do accountants make. college freshmen as acc major

  • depends on location and private vs public.

Big 4 in the LA/OC california region about 50-54k entry for tax or audit (tax being higher)

In NY it's 60k range in contrast it's in the upper 40k in Texas.

  • im an accountancy student and im telling you, accountancy is not boring at all., but this video is not even motivating., sounds soo boring., urgh., sorry to say this., but you should put color in accounting., it's a cool course., and it ain't for nerds only.,

  • hey is the schooling hard for accountinG? how is it?

  • Accounting is probably the most challenge major if you get a business degree. Its a great field to get into if you can make it, since the demand is higher for accountants compared other fields of business. Do not go into Marketing, unless you know somebody or have straight A's every semester. You will love your last year of college if you take that major but its extremely difficult to get your foot in the door once your done. Hope this helps.

  • challenging major*

  • I believe you KeizaPrestige, it's a cool course.

  • yawn....does not portray accounting as it should be at all!

  • You've been criticizing a bunch of her videos, I noticed- but haven't provided any alternatives. That would be more useful than an empty critique don't you think?

  • thanx

  • thanks, i might be an accountant, year 10 atm (Y)

  • Good tips for accounting Career

  • thank you thank you

  • ty very much

  • So nice of u. thanx for such infrmation. :)
