  • The greatest hits was my first Bruce record that I bought at age 12. Had heard some of his bigger hits on the radio before that, but that was my first collection of his songs that I owned. Atlantic City still gives me chills to this day.

  • Sums up how i feel about music. Thank you Brian. Bless your soul

  • GAY....HEs not GOD...I just Od them....calculating genious.....shoot me....wtf is world to come ....19 years talking like , they can speak in "past"....like when i WAS a kid...... cmooooon roflol lolll lolllll

  • The 1st bruce record I listened to was his greatest hits. it was, and still is, my parents only bruce album. I personally have (in 1 form or another) all his E street band records up to 2007 - still need "the Promise" and "Working on a dream".

For me, it was the song "Born to Run", that hooked me - A kid of 16, about to leave school, and I listen to that. nearly 3 years down the line - still listening!

  • Super DILF

  • I'm from California, but I come from a lower-middle class family. My mom dated this one guy who's still a friend of mine and he's from Pennsylvania (allentown to be specific) and he love Bruce Springsteen and for the longest time I didn't get it then I heard Born to Run and Darkness on the Edge of Town and I got it. It was such liberation.

  • Hey, I was born there too. Same hospital I bet. Also, the very town Matt Damon and Ben Aflec had to get back to in Dogma.

  • First 4 records were masterpieces, not first 3. Odd that Bruce did not win any major awards from the music industry back then considering the fact that he was so far beyond anything that was being produced.

  • Brian, it's the first 4 records. Darkness has only been recognized recently as a masterpiece. I used to rank "Born To Run" as Bruce's best, but about 10 years ago, I started listening to "Darkness..." again and it blew me away. The title track captured my life precisely at that moment. I still get goosebumps every time I listen to that song. For any TGA fan who doesn't have "Darkness...", get it today. For me, TGA is "Darkness..."-era Bruce mixed with the great post-punk bands. Damn good stuff.

  • woah, thats mad, i was exactly the same...i always used to say to my mam she should marry springsteen, since his musics been alive in our house since the day i was born

  • cool but good lord the tattoos look horrible

  • @KOSMICKEN09 The tatoos are so unexpected when you see Brians face, but I really like them. I don't have a tatoo, but I am 56 and thinking I might get one!

  • Darkness on the Edge of Town is currently changing my life.

  • BORN TO RUN is just amazing especially Thunder Road

  • I am blown away by this band--and I get to see them WITH the Hold Steady for 20 bucks--not for long....... I am blown away these guys "get" this rock thing so well. I'm in.

  • is that a wedding ring? is he married?

  • @slvrstnthb

    you are perceptive

  • @slvrstnthb yes he is...his wife, hollie, is their tour-manager or something like that.

  • he reminds me of mr incredibles mini side kick boy thing incrediboy:P

  • I love this video.

  • "Inside that cassette and what was on it, is the ticket it out.." Gaslight is amazing.. And of course Bruce no one can touch.

  • i love the gaslight anthem!

  • if a kid mentioned he never heard springsteen b4 born in the usa , id tell him to listen to Nebraska and get every fucking Steve Earle record. Then i would rub my magic bed knob and fly off.yay

  • "The first three records will change your life."

    Yes. Yes. Yes.

I've been saying that since 1975.

Thank you for Saying This for those of us who have lived and loved Bruce all of our lives.

Good luck on -your- journey, Brian.

  • @WriterRoss For me, it was 3 & 4. I listened to Born to Run (1975) and Darkness (1978) all of summer,1978. If there are better back-to-back records, I wouldn't know what they might be.

Then I saw him on back-to-back nights, 9/30 & 10/1/78, Fox Theater, Atlanta.

The best live rock that had ever been or ever could be.

I boarded This Train, not knowing that the ride of my life would last the rest of my life.

Ya don't need no ticket. Ya just get on board.

    The genius of Bruce Springsteen!

  • Great story!!!!!!!!!

  • I went to go see TGA at the HMV Forum. The best I've ever seen! Love them so much. :)

  • "I didn't know that Bruce had any records before Born in the USA."

    LOL!

Brian is sooo right ... you gotta look back. That's the ticket out!

  • Gaslight is the best band out right now!

They are my new Against me!

AM killed themselves when they went to a big label, the sound and feel just changed.

This band is just too good.

  • I like em both, but with the release of Original cowboy I read on some review that they are trying to tell their old audience that they've still got it and I totally stand by that statement. original is not for the New Wave fans of AM!

  • @USFBULLIT and then tey will change like 90percent of good bands

  • love this guy.

  • You are really right about the first 3 album part, every day i listen to Bruce springsteen and especially his stuff from the 70's, like Hammersmith Odeon, Winterland and The Lost Masters. Bruce is thé man today, but the things he has showed during the '73-'85 period is the best there is, absolutely legendary. Bruce Springsteen = GOD haha. Songs like Dancing in the dark are nice, but songs like Drive All Night and Jungleland make Bruce "The Boss" ;)

  • I'm a 15 year old boy from The Netherlands and i'm a huge fan of the Boss. I'm named Bruce aswell and my little brother is named Steve (from steve van zandt). My father is also a big fan so step by step i learnt more songs from Bruce because of my dad listening them alot in for example the car. I went to all his concerts in the Netherlands and last month i went to the Pinkpop festival and Springsteen gave me a hand for about 15 seconds during Promised Land, my best moment in life, period.

  • Him and Tom Gabel look like they could be cousins haha good cover both of you!

  • «The first 3 albums will change your live»... man you're so right! Fantastic cover!

  • The Boss!

  • Brian, to see you boys up on stage with Bruce at Glastonbury then live at Hyde Park tonight....If you've been given the golden ticket, you sure know how to use it!!! Awesome performance.

  • I love The Boss and I truly feel that The Gaslight Anthem is the second coming of Bruce and the E Street Band...like they are their children so to speak..i love both bands they are amazing and greatly talented!!!!

  • This guy looks like Alex Lifeson from Rush.

  • Hahaha very true!

  • Comment removed

  • spoken like a true fan, however darkness is unmissable. Thats an album to live your life by.

  • 100 % agree

  • Actually the first FOUR albums will change your life. Don't EVER EVER forget "Darkness on the Edge of Town".

  • Word!!

  • Oh Hell Yes!!!!

  • bruce + gaslight anthem = WIN

  • I agree x10

  • First three records will change your life - truer words have never been spoken.

Backstreets always makes a bit teary eyed, even when this guy sings.

  • Love Bruce, love the Gaslight Anthem, love Brian, and love this interview and cover! Keep on carrying the message!

    Bruuuuuuuuucccceeeeeee!!!!!

  • Great Interview! I happen to be Bruce's 2nd. cousin and I thought the video was cool. Rob Zerilli
