  • Is that Palm Sunday? Because they have the palms.

  • Ou man, why do i always come back to to this video??

  • This is a really beautiful service, I am from jewish background and want to go back to practicing judaism

  • Black Jew and White Jew? How come? Even Yellow Jew possibly?

  • @JusufJan yes dude, there are even yellow jews

  • just a drop different then my hoshana rabah davening, just a drop.

  • Shalom democast, I was sure you'd suppress the rebuttal I submitted about your reply to VioletBob re gender separation in Orthodox services, so I proceeded to PM him my rebuttal. Censorship accomplishes nothing.

    Mo`adim l'Simha sir :))

  • What heartfelt joyous communion with the Lord!It reminds me of passages of the Bible where David plays his lyre and dances joyously before the Lord! It is truly lovely! It shows the closeness and intimacy of the Jewish people with the God that they have called theirs for millennia! It is so obvious that they truly KNOW Him intimately and are his children! Beautiful! Loved it! Thanks for posting! On a side note compare it with witless, spiritless, joyless, mechanical Muslim prayer!

  • That dosnt even looks like praying but making a party? :S

I have seen ''Ancient'' prayers of jews and its so not this...

Just check out the Christians in Jeruslam how they pray or the muslims its serious... Are you calling yourself better then god?? Bow down to him as said in the scriptures!

  • @Lizzio1980 That's because it is a CELEBRATION. Jews pray and bow down but only during special occasions like Yom Kippur and other fasting days. Secondly, Jews bowed down like that in his special Temple of Yerushalayim. Prostration on stone ground was an ancient Canaanite way of worship to their fake gods. Are you Muslims calling yourself better then G-d when you don't follow the full dietary laws as Hashem commanded in Deuteronomy, or your women covering their heads with tight pants/jeans

  • @Lizzio1980 You silly Muslim! They are worshiping with love and joy and beauty! Worship and prayer is not just humiliating yourself before God! It is dwelling in his joy and spirit and beauty! Of course it is a great party! God is the best host in the world and you will never have a "down" after his parties! They revere God but they don't have to grovel before him. They are his children unlike you Muslims who are his slaves! So of course as a slave you know not how sons relate to their father!

  • @ritamalik I've actually been to a muslim prayer service during Ramadan and other times. It is also very heart touching, the mosque I went to was mostly Albanian immigrants and American converts after the service, there was joyful dancing in the name of God performed by Sufi Muslims. The Sunnis also prayed in a heart touching way. My prayer is that Muslims, Jews, and Christians can come together and stop fighting one another.

  • @MegaKrishan123 Cool I'm planning of attending a Mosque Service with my Muslim friends one day. How long was the Ramadan Service you went to?

  • @MegaKrishan123 as a muslim and sufi myself, i agree this is very similar to sufi mysticism. alot of judaism and islamic practices are very very similar. which also includes the hebrew and arabic languages. i can understand some of the hebrew being spoken.

  • @Lizzio1980 This topic is way above your head, so if you only feel up to lambastiong our religion, you're better off staying silent. If I were you I'd be much more worried that the Qur'an is a huge contortion of the Tanakh before even mentioning the porions from the Talmud it contains instead of being Elohim's pure unadulturated message like pro-Muslim propagandists of your ilk routinely ballyhoo everywhere. Shalom

  • Can someone tell me what are they doing? And what is the Spiritual message in that? Shalom, from a non-Jew.

  • Watch this "Jesus and Genesis" WOW !!!

  • religion is the opium of the people. and this particular opium is low grade

  • great spirit keep it up

  • Is this Simchat Torah?

  • @irishxxkelt no Succos

  • you cant differentiate between it and a wedding ceremony or a sweet 16 party .

if you want to see a GODLY ceremony check out the ISLAMIC PILGRIMAGE CEREMONY there where your heart will see the glory of GOD

  • its video clip dance

  • This is not how most services are....at least for me.

  • it's very similar the way they sing and pray as the Hare Krishna from India.

  • What a beautiful celebration! Such joy and reverence! I am curious what it is they are holding in their hands and also Whats the service about? I am also curious about the rocking they do when they are praying or reading something? sorry so many questions Im just so intrigued.

  • what is it that they are singing? its realy beautiful!

  • I find it sorta interesting that when I went to my friends's little brother's bar mitzvah at a concervitive congregation I found it so hard to concentrate with the mixed seating but when Im at the Orthodox shul I attend I find it much easier to concentrate with the Mehetzah dividing the men and women.

  • CAn someone please tell me what the name of this song is that they are singing?

  • This is so beautiful... never seen how a Jewish service is. They are more closer with God than us the christian...

  • Indeed it is beautiful. And it really seems they are closer to god cause of the way they celebrate... it seems. Sadly they deny Jesus as messiah. they will recognize him one day...

  • @dipidulor G-d forbid!

    that day will never come.

  • @613degrees God did say that you Jews are a stiff necked people.

  • @jorgejh90 Menudo gilopollas estás hecho.

  • @jorgejh90 Indeed they are, but he loves all children under the branch even the forgetful ones.

  • Such a rich culture and heritage! Reminds me why I informally converted.

  • @TheChuchulainn

    Why not formally convert?

  • This is an awsome shul!

  • HAVA NAGILA!! LONG LIVE ISRAEL!!

  • LA VERDAD ES QUE LOS CATOLICOS NI LOS MULSUMANES NO TIENEN NADA DE ORIGINAL TODO LO COPIARON DE LOS HEBREOS. EL JUDAISMO ES LA VERDADERA CRENCIA EN DIOS LO DEMAS SOLO SON SECTAS CREADAS POR EL HOMBRE

  • I've never seen a Jewish service before, so I'm just wondering-- why are the men and women separated? Sorry, I'm just hoping someone could explain a little to me.

  • Rabbi Shlomo of Ask Moses says: It comes from two places: scripture, and practice.

Scripture: The Torah tells us that when the Jews crossed the Sea the men sang praises to G-d with Moses, and the women sang praises to G-d with Miriam. Additionally, scripture tells us that the Holy Temple had seperate men's and women's sections

Practice: Throughout Jewish history, since its inception, there were always careful separation between men and women as not to lead to illicit practices/ distractions.

  • @democast

As a side note, its common in many other religions including islam, and orthodox christianity.

  • @democast you will even notice in this synagogue that the barrier simply keeps ones ones from looking at the figure, legs, etc. of the women. Not that a Jewish man would allow his eyes to wander as such during services, but it happens, B"H we have passions and women of Halachot are most beautiful and admirable, the barrier just cuts out the distraction potential.

  • @VioletBob orthodox tradition separates men and women because their attention should not be on anything but God, people do kind of have that inclination to let their minds drift in the presence of the opposite sex. the conservatives and reform dont have the same rule.

  • @VioletBob when your prying to your g-d its not very proper to consertrat on the prttey girl next to you lol Man and wonen daceing to gether is not hard to understand

Your devostiion should to your dad in haven

  • @VioletBob Basically to keep you focused on your prayers and not on the women basically

  • Is this what happens at a Jewish service every week? This is fucking crazy! LOL Interesting to see how other religions worship. I'm a former Christian. Just a little different LOL

  • I could watch this over and over again. Thank you Yeshua that you are removing the veil from the eyes of my people, Your Beloved. Soon they will mourn the One whom they have pierced and bow at His feet and call Him Mashiach. I love You Yeshua Bo Elohim

  • @dena4yeshua It's never going to happen!

  • very noble, I love Jews, definitely God's chosen, for sure, not an ounce of doubt

  • @xXBlackxRebelXx ctfu you lier, God's chosen))lol noway

they kill 20 000 profets!!!!God say they all be in hell

  • why do you all wright G-d this way?

  • @cocojumbo555 Not pretty sure 'cause im not Jew (im Muslim), but that's what i've ben told : In Judaism, God do not have a "name" like He does in Islam (Allah) or Christianism (translated by God). In Hebrew they name god "YHVH", wich is not really a "name" that you can pronounce, so I guess when they translate it they don't want it to be pronouciable either ! So they write "G-d" (sorry for the bad english spelling, im francophone)

  • I was feeling a little down this morning, but just sitting back and connecting with my G-d for a while turns the whole day around.. :)

  • you pray by dancing ? how unrespectful .. i hope you all burn in hell :)

  • WHAT A PAGON WORSHIP. I THINK SHIAS COPIED THIS TO THEIR PRAYERS.. SHAME.

  • It's so sad. I have several Jewish friends whom I care deeply about. It's just so sad that they are smitten in their beliefs. I would love for them to be able to fly alongside me in the Kingdom of Heaven, but sadly they will be burning in Hell.

  • @HarlequinBuckeye

You think the people that carried the torch of God's word for thousand years are destined for Hell? This people is still quite crucial for Christian eschatology, therefore your remarks are ill-conceived

The spirit of Christianity and of Judaism are actually quite similar, though the beliefs differ. And the SPIRIT is what you bring into your daily life & to others, not a belief in your head (e.g. GOOD SAMARITAN??).

God couldn't care tuppence for a thought without spirit.

  • @HarlequinBuckeye Really?

  • @HarlequinBuckeye

You are an imbecile. Hell with be filled with fools who tell others they will go to Hell.

  • @PathofTorah4life Yeshua and Hashem are Echad! They are in the sense of Myself being Echad with my future wife! Hashem Echad is what we say in the Shmah Twice daily, yes, but is Echad Meaning one or is Echad meaning a Union that makes up one like in a marriage? I was raised Orthodox I now understand. I am reminded of Mishlei 30:4 'what is is name and what is his sons name?'

  • you crackers are not the real jews according to the bible. the blacks are the real jews. christ was a black man revalation 1:13-15. it states that in the original version of the bible. you crackers have no proof in being the house of israel none of you know your tribe you dont fullfill the prophecies in the bible. you are not jews and you are the SYNAGOGUE OF SATAN

  • @neosouljazz You truly are an ignorant moron. Shut up and go back under your rock.

  • @neosouljazz Im curious about how your comment was approved. Since I just tried to respond to it and wasn't allowed to post, yet your post was approved?? Why would the moderator allow such a hateful post to be put here under such a video?? Take it down, moderator. And all posts like it.

  • @neosouljazz Would you stop twisting Scripture! You are not a True Christian!

  • @PathofTorah4life Is the Mashiach to be of divine nature? Yeshayahu 7:14 says that his name will be Immanuel. What is your thought on this?

  • @PathofTorah4life Is then the Mashiach to be of a divine nature? Yeshayahu 7:14 says that his name will be Immanuel. What is your thoughts on this?

  • bunch of fools! May Allah almighy guide them if they are worth guiding.

  • @luckstr Your god is a rock in Mecca. Muhammad was a liar, and Islam is false!

  • Nice video, it is not a ortodoxa comunity, it is a conservative comunity, bcuz the ladies have a Sefer Torah. Take care

  • Very Beautiful, i am a Hare Krishna and we also chant and dance to drums. So nice to see the beauty of those worshiping G-d.

  • GOD bLESS

  • I am catholic and I wanted to see how my jewish brothers and sisters pray and it looks AWESOME! they are all so connected to god!

  • wheres the GOLD BUFFALO

  • So awsome. It is good to see such joy in Davening!

  • what is your opinion about Yeshua Hamashiach...

  • i love the music :)

  • This is an ashkenazi praying style mix with some sephardic music... what's traditional about this again!?

    The song?? Ok then....?

  • Aussiemoo, out of interest how would a woman corrupt the mind of these men? It is felt that the mind can only be corrupted if the heart is not pure in its motives and worship from the outset. In true worship, one's heart and mind are directed to HaShem. Also interested to understand the 'shokeling', which according to Isaac Luria, should not be done.

  • For our Muslim cousin , I recall king david dancing naked.

  • hhmm..new religion knowledge

  • As a muslim, I am sad to see a religion that is still considered to be monotheistic degrading to that level in praying to God. I mean, you are imitating christians in using music and dancing. I don't think that moses or David or Jacob prayed like this. Infact you will find many videos on the right here on this page showing the ancient daily jewish prayer that all the jewish prophets used to perform. Surprisingly, it is quit similar to the Islamic prayer. Majestic and gloriouse.

  • @wtalkie I can see why you might think why dancing is not appropriate, however King David did dance in front of God, please see 2 Samuel 6:14-15 if you are interested, or if you are a visual learner I recommend googling life of King David in video Read this since it will show you that David did in fact dance for the Lord God of Abraham, and Jacob see the link:

  • @wtalkie What about the psalms shouting "Praise God with the Heart, Praise God with the drums and cymbals."

  • @wtalkie

'you are imitating christians in using music and dancing.'

There's a place for lots of different kinds of rituals. Lots of Jewish rituals are very solumn. But life isn't all about that - you have to ask why God creates the capacity for communities, music and so forth, if that is somehow not a right thing to experience?

Even Muhammad who was a particularly strict individual at times still stayed and listened with ai'sha to musicians on occassion. It's there in haddiths.

  • @wtalkie You call the muslim prayer majestic and glorious? Hahahaha. A group of men facing each other's butts is regarded as majestic.....lolol...The bible says to praise him with the harp, stringed instruments, cymbals, high sounding instruments....when Jehoshaphat won the battle, it was singing that confused the enemy, for the singers were at the front of the battle. Could you imagine? Singers at the front of the battle? That's how powerful praise is! Islam is too traditional, it lacks essence

  • @youdesnan Don't agree with your arrogant comments - if however you have a genuine passing interest in the way others pray watch chechen qadri hadra for other forms of Muslim worship.

  • Beautiful :)

men and women daven separately so they both can Focus on their Prayer Instead of eachother - you know how people when at a gathering might look to see who's interesting. Therefore, sitting separately helps them to concentrate on prayer

Plus, if couples sit together, the single might feel sad about being single.

However, with the men on one side and women on the other, there's no status, just people davening together

  • @stars1836 I agree in everything you say but the "status" thing. How come the space for men is huge and the women space is so small. Why not half and half?

  • Israel I just love you, stay strong in G-D

  • where are the women?

  • jews are so punkrock

  • Very nice, full of joy, God bless you ppl. of Israel! With a big HELLO from a Swiss Christian...

  • liar

  • it is NOT a modern orthodox jewish prayer worship but a CONSERVATIVE service.

Davening with a kittel and a gartel in presence of women dancing singing and playing music is a grotesque comedy

shame on the "rabbi" who does conduct such service

  • @verroes Oh noes, the women will corrupt their minds. How dirty is your mind that you would think of such things in Synagogue. Let the women be and focus on G-d.

  • @verroes not your place to make a judgement bro...stop with all your 'shame on' bullcrap, im masorti and services i go to are similar to this. Make me any less jewish? shame on me for going to shul and not discriminating against women...? you might think its a grotesque comedy, good for you, keep your opinion to yourself and do it your way, you dont find me making inflammatory comments about orthodox shuls so dont make them about masorti ones.

  • This is a messianic service!

  • This is Carlebach, chabibi!

  • There is NO WAY that these guys are your average, every day Orthodox Jews.... NO WAY. They gotta be some sort of sect, or at least distinctive group...

    An anomaly.

  • @MrBiblia you have to look at the context of the video, this is during Sukkot which is a very joyous time in the Jewish community, it comes after the solemn Feast days of Rosh ha Shanah and Yom Kippur. Look up some videos of Simchat Torah (joy of the Torah) and you'll find a bunch of videos of Orthodox Jews dancing and celebrating. This is not something that happens every week.

  • carlebach is kinda like modern chasidish

  • so so awsome!

  • I really love this. Hoshana in the Highest!

I am studying Hebrew with Hebrew 4 Christians (just google it). It's great, It is a free site and it has sound. You can learn at your own pace, start as simply as the Aleph-bet and go through the Torah, Psalms, and much more. I like the daily site blog-just scroll down and you can learn of the upcoming Jewish Holidays and Shabbat. I only share because it has meant so much to me . Shalom.

  • Someone had to mention the Black Jewish man. Urgh... As if it's an anomaly! He is still your Jewish brother in the eyes of G-d.

  • Beautiful!

  • I'm a secular jew who speaks no hebrew but this really spoke to me and made me want to worship with these people.

  • by the way the service was done in the beit midrash of Bnai David Modern Orthodox synagogue in LA, CA

  • ברוך אתה ה' אלוהינו מלך העולם שלא עשני ליובאוויטשער!

all jews say this brocha :)

  • I say it. Of course, i don't think they want me either.

  • Is this an orthodox service?

  • I am super out of touch. I study religion and am hoping to get an insiders opinion about what i am watching. Please understand I was looking for an authentic Shabbat and this is what i came up with. Please understand, I mean no disrespect, only an opportunity to learn .

  • youre not going to find video of an authentic Shabbat, as electronic devices are prohibitted on Shabbat.

  • @seaofsound1 Yeah that's what I thought too!

  • The mechitza is "technically kosher" in the same way that having milk and chicken together is "technically kosher".

  • Sorry if I appear ignorant on judaic customs, but I am, and therefor am compelled to ask, why are the Woman seperated from the men? And how come people have branches?

  • Men and women don't mix together in synagogues nor do the mix together on jewish celebrations (weddings, Holidays, etc.). Some people have branches because this is one of the commandment Jews must accomplish during the Holiday of Sukkot.

  • I am 63. Untill I was 13 - 15in catholic churches and school women and man were separated. Man was entering church right and women left ! Women were covering head. Man was taking hut off. Now is over. we just go and pray. for every body. I mean they go. I go very very seldom. I am not a beleiver any more. I go to remember.

  • shalom :]

  • I just wish they were Egaliterian and I would Join them!! I am Orthodox, but I support Egaliterian Orthodoxy! My brand of Orthodoxy is K'hollah Shira Chadasha in Jerusalem, I gues you can say I am a Male Orthodox feminist!! What Shul is This?

  • Iofi! Wonderful! Thank you, your happines is contagious. Moadim le Simkha!

  • looks like an evangelical version of carlebachian judaism in my opinion

  • What is your definition of authentic? Just because there is a mehitza does not mean it is authentic.

I think our tzadiqim would look at this and go "whaaa?"

  • May Hashem be pleased with your praises.

  • Beautiful, joyous service

    thanks for sharing

  • This is like the Jewish version of Gregory of Nyssa in San Francisco.

  • Lol I am the black guy in the video. There are many of us out there. I know over 40and there at least 12 or more in LA were I live.

  • @nehemyah24 what what denomination is this? Conservative or Orthodox?

  • i see a black person wit them, i didn't know we have black Jew wow

  • there are a lot of black people who are jewish...you would be surprised, what you are used to seeing most likely are ashkenazi Jews...not Sephardic. Jews exist in almost every race...again, you would be surprised.

  • @gatita77711 indeed the kaifeng jews of china...i didn't know about that. I am mixed race and Jewish but we are Ashkenazim :)

  • Jews come from every country. The diversity is one of the most beautiful aspects of Judaism.

  • I am a Muslim,

but interesting to see how my Jewish brothers and sisters pray :)

  • what do mean interesting??? This is not the discovery channel! And who cares if you are a muslim??? This is the way you should worship Hashem!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @borntopaz

    cheers my friend. peace.

  • This is beautiful! You can feel the Lord's presence in this video. Nobody truly knows loyalty like the Jews. After going through so much........they remain stronger and their loyalty to Hashem is reinforced. May G-d bless his Jewish children!!!!!!

  • haha authentic jewish prayers, I always knew jews were hippiers inside and out where is the marajuana in this ritual? i cant see it

  • You're an idiot. You should check with someone before speaking next.

  • your comment was very unchristian and disrespectful

  • Make more educated comments, especially about religions which are not your own. Unless you're Jewish, or have studied Judaism, you have no right to make snide remarks.

Religions differ; Christianity can be pretty fruity in it's own way.

  • everyone read what democast responded....and this is a great service, soulful and there are some nanachs there too....music uplifts you to heights in tefillah that are amazing.

  • This is not an Orthodox service.

    1)Instruments?

    2)Mic?

    3)Video camera?

I suspect this is a Jews for Jesus service, trying to appear Jewish.

I also see the separation wall is not high enough to meet Jewish law requirements!

  • what is Jews for Jesus? I thought it was a joke when I first heard it.

  • Just a note: there are no biblical requirements for a separation wall. There are many Reform and Conservative services which don't have a separation wall at all, so don't write them off as J for J immediately.

But I do wonder about the camera.

  • no, but is Rabbinical - That's why it came into being. Reform and Conservative aren't correct forms of Judaism. The mechitzah is quite low also.

  • The Mekhitza is %100 KOSHER! See Succot: 51b -Simhat Bet HaShoeva originally had NO Mehitza in The Holy Temple, until they started acting frivolous...

  • reforms and conservative should not exist, this is a shame to judaism.

  • There may be a biblical requirement for a separation wall, actually (according to R' Moshe Feinstein ), but the mechitzah they have does conform to halacha.

    Very, very nice minyan btw.

Oh, and whoever compared them to "Jews" for Y'shke should ask them for mechilah.

  • Hoshana Raba is a weekday, not yom tov. So the camera is no problem.

  • @WineBibberToronto1 you mean messianic? yes i agree

  • the women and men are separate same as muslims eh?

  • Keep Loving!

  • very nice

  • I'm confused....music and microphone on Yom Tov??????

  • Rabbi Moshe Parry (member of the Happy Minyan) responds: "This Hoshana Rabbah fell on an intermediate day of the Sukkot holiday (not on a Shabbat) and therefore music and microphones in music and prayer are permitted. It was not a Sabbath or the first or last days of the Yom Tov (holiday). Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach innovated this among orthodoxy."

  • Interesting! Thank you for the explanation! :)

  • @Tehiyeh

This group must be a little more lenient on some things. I notice the mechitza is not exactly the barrier that some would feel is correct.

But I am a goy, so what do I know about these things? I just like Carlebach, and am gladdened to see prayers that are not rushed through.

  • @Tehiyeh yes chol hamoed

  • In a strange way, this looks quite similar to some Sufi practices I have seen...

  • It's so nice to see beautiful people worshiping.

  • This is very interesting.

    Thank you for posting it.

  • fantastic....where was this?
