Given the age of this video, I'm willing to agree with some of what is said by the presenter, but his analysis is too simplistic. The reason Macs don't have as many viruses is because it's not the best platform to spread viruses on. As it's popularity grows, so will the number of viruses written for OS X. I would agree that Mac's kernel is tightly written, but anyone can write code for it. Its not tightly controlled and anyone with the drive to find a vulnerability in OS X will find it.
I've watched probably ten of the videos that this guy is in. And with each video, I get angrier and angrier at the things he says. It's people like him that make me hate Macs.

@michaeltbear you obviously have never used a mac. i've used both and i can't stand windows. macs just do what you want, you kind of have to play with pc's. macs can run windows too so you can do everything macs can do plus everything windows can do when using a mac. so if you buy a mac and a copy of windows, you're basically getting two computers for the price of a little more than one. and the mac os is way more advanced than windows.
Mac's are amazing, they run everything I need to run, and it's more reliable with downloading things online, and the support is fantastic. And you pay more, because you're paying more for the OS, the design, and the superiority. Also, the resell-ability of Macs are huge. A Windows machine from 2000, is worth little to no money today. However a Mac from 2000, is still worth hundreds of dollars. Macs> PCs. Its simple. It all depends on your needs. PCs suck though

@Bibazavr exactly, I use malwarebytes and another free antivirus, pretty useful, even though I could buy malware bytes for a small fee(I think it may only be like $50 once or something for web scanning and other things), but a good amount more features

There are now viruses and malware for the Macintosh. Also, some people say the mac looks better. Well, can you find Aero on a mac? NO! And do you have to pay for antivirus? NO! So far I'm 2 years in with this Mac and the biggest problem I've had was the charger breaking. I just love Macs because they are easy to use. you face malware... you will need programs? programs? 1 program! you will not face them unless you want to. viruses are caused by the user not the computer. if the user downloads them they get the virus. if you know what you are doing and download things only if you know what you are getting you are fine.

Apple spews propaganda like the BP spills oil. a study is done everytime a new operating system is released by Apple, Microsoft, and Linux. the funny thing is in order from easiest to hack to hardest... well it's in this order; Mac OS X Snow Leopard, Microsoft Windows 7, Linux Ubuntu 10.04 LTS. If advanced means more fun stuff and flashy colors than i guess Apple win,s but if it means safer to use and harder to infiltrate Linux wins, and Microsoft is a happy medium.

a windows pc is better for gaming, and office work. its also good for programing and fairly good for web designing.
a mac is excellent for dealing with all forms of professional media work. also its a good computer for those not too technologically "savvy." u don't have to worry about malicious software as much.
the main difference: YOU PAY THROUGH THE NOSE FOR A MAC AND THE SOFTWARE FOR IT!!!

I've used pc for a good 12 years now. I've had to buy 5 computers and 3 laptops. Most of them was because of viruses and 2 was because i dropped them and the crappy warranties didn't cover them. I'm switching to mac next week when i get the macbook pro 13 inch. VERY EXCITED!
@BatchFileHelper yeah but think about it. The macbook is going to last you twice as long (maybe more) than the gateway laptop. So then you buy another 600 dollar gateway (thats 1200) dollars while you're still using the same macbook. The macbook might cost more initially but what about when your virus protection runs out on your gateway? What about when it overheats and pc's crappy warranty doesn't cover it and you have to buy another one. (thats 1800 dollars)

its called SDK (Sofware Development Kit). This came out last year i think and people are making apps for iphone, osx's and many other thngs. I fyou reallly like pc's then heck, you can get paraells descktop or bootcamp that will run ANYTHING you want . i ahve xp for paralells and windows 7 for bootcamp. It pretty much the only computer youll ever need :D
If he knew anything about computers he would know that Linux, and BSD both can run on a "PC" and both make OS'es that don't get viruses, and both are free.
Plus Apple had a project called MKLinux, and BSD code was added to Mac OS X after the NeXTSTEP OS ... so this mean ... Windows does not equal "PC" and Mac OS is not the only OS that doesn't get viruses ...
thats why i love Windows 7, not only do you not have to worry about programs not being compatable, its has that same function on the pc as the mac does, minus the entering name and password.
pc (windows) = freedom, it does the things u tell it to not the other way around recommended for advanced users.
mac = closed system recommended for users that do simple things and want to do it with little or no hastle with pretty UI they also get n00b support from apple.

My mom has a Dell PC from 2002 and it still runs fine. And it has only had 2 viruses its whole life. Its almost faster than my 2009 macbook. PC's are better now. Windows 7 is really an improvement. Don't dis PC users because most real businesses use PC. And only places with macs are like art studios, recording studios, school computer labs, I am getting tired of mac a little. I wanna be able to play games when ever I can.

@Bibazavr exactly, I use malwarebytes and another free antivirus, pretty useful, even though I could buy malware bytes for a small fee(I think it may only be like $50 once or something for web scanning and other things), but a good amount more features

Things have changed.
There are now viruses and malware for the Macintosh. Also, some people say the mac looks better. Well, can you find Aero on a mac? NO! And do you have to pay for antivirus? NO! You can download them for free! (unless you want some premium crap which you really don't need at all). Also, the Mac is way overpriced, and has mediocre hardware. Also, there are less compatible programs for the Mac.

@PokePackOpener14 I agree with u at some points but the price tag isn't that bad , i have a one of those turbocharged Imacs and its super super fast. my uncle got some acer predator computer he spent more tan me and hes pc is much slower than my mac. also he had to install a lot of thing where i had everything ready to use. so IMACs really aren't that bad they keep on getting better and better and if i find a program that isn't compatible with OSX i can use windows installed on boot camp

@TheUberDeity I dealt with PCs my whole life up until I got a laptop for college, which is a Mac. We had countless problems with our PCs over the years. So far I'm 2 years in with this Mac and the biggest problem I've had was the charger breaking. I just love Macs because they are easy to use. I hop on my parent's desktop running Vista and I wanna pull my hair out because the thing is just a mystery to me. Nothin runs as smoothly as my Mac :) but to each his own.

the mac hardware is the most expensive part, but once you pay for that, the operating system is, for the latest mac os, $29.00, compared to windows 7 home premium: $119.99. So basically your paying more for hardware than the OS. so mac could be considered cheaper, in my opinion, and worth it

you face malware... you will need programs? programs? 1 program! you will not face them unless you want to. viruses are caused by the user not the computer. if the user downloads them they get the virus. if you know what you are doing and download things only if you know what you are getting you are fine.

well heres the sad truth. Apple spews propaganda like the BP spills oil. a study is done everytime a new operating system is released by Apple, Microsoft, and Linux. the funny thing is in order from easiest to hack to hardest... well it's in this order; Mac OS X Snow Leopard, Microsoft Windows 7, Linux Ubuntu 10.04 LTS. If advanced means more fun stuff and flashy colors than i guess Apple win,s but if it means safer to use and harder to infiltrate Linux wins, and Microsoft is a happy medium.

this video is extremely biased and doesn't address the real differences between the two.
in my opinion:
a windows pc is better for gaming, and office work. its also good for programing and fairly good for web designing.
a mac is excellent for dealing with all forms of professional media work. also its a good computer for those not too technologically "savvy." u don't have to worry about malicious software as much.
the main difference: YOU PAY THROUGH THE NOSE FOR A MAC AND THE SOFTWARE FOR IT!!!

I've used pc for a good 12 years now. I've had to buy 5 computers and 3 laptops. Most of them was because of viruses and 2 was because i dropped them and the crappy warranties didn't cover them. I'm switching to mac next week when i get the macbook pro 13 inch. VERY EXCITED!

@BatchFileHelper yeah but think about it. The macbook is going to last you twice as long (maybe more) than the gateway laptop. So then you buy another 600 dollar gateway (thats 1200) dollars while you're still using the same macbook. The macbook might cost more initially but what about when your virus protection runs out on your gateway? What about when it overheats and pc's crappy warranty doesn't cover it and you have to buy another one. (thats 1800 dollars)

With them, we receive information, discover new worlds, communicate with the human population in entirely new ways, and accelerate the way we work as well as play. @BatchFileHelper its 3 years, and if you drop you Laptop, microsoft doesn't care and a company like dell prolly won't do anything either. Apple Care covers a huge range of insurance on a computer. and a $250 laptop is probably a POS anyway.

its called SDK (Sofware Development Kit). This came out last year i think and people are making apps for iphone, osx's and many other thngs. I fyou reallly like pc's then heck, you can get paraells descktop or bootcamp that will run ANYTHING you want . i ahve xp for paralells and windows 7 for bootcamp. It pretty much the only computer youll ever need :D

If he knew anything about computers he would know that Linux, and BSD both can run on a "PC" and both make OS'es that don't get viruses, and both are free.
Plus Apple had a project called MKLinux, and BSD code was added to Mac OS X after the NeXTSTEP OS ... so this mean ... Windows does not equal "PC" and Mac OS is not the only OS that doesn't get viruses ...

My mom has a Dell PC from 2002 and it still runs fine. And it has only had 2 viruses its whole life. Its almost faster than my 2009 macbook. PC's are better now. Windows 7 is really an improvement. Don't dis PC users because most real businesses use PC. And only places with macs are like art studios, recording studios, school computer labs, I am getting tired of mac a little. I wanna be able to play games when ever I can.
