  • Uninstall flash player through control panel, run PC Fresher scan and download updated version of flash player on your system. It would fix Shockwave Flash Crash on your system.

  • My solution is to disable the ""Fastest Chrome - Browse Faster5.9.6"" extension in extension manager.

  • Oh the Irony

  • fuck chrome it keeps crashing, im going back to mozilla.

  • I have been having frequent shockwave crashes, especially if I open up multiple tabs with Youtube videos. Also, the HD function in Youtube videos does not work for me, I am permanently stuck with 360p right now.

  • htm5 on youtube will get there but not ready to go 100% yet but it works for me they should also let you pick what you want flash or htm5 or over alternatives

  • youtube can be run on html5 but for some reason they dont support every video

  • from google forum

Best answer - Toni (Googler) (Google Employee)

Everyone else - We've been able to reproduce this now, and are actively working on a fix. It's not specific to updating Flash or not. Please sit tight while we work on the fix and I'll update this thread as we know more. Thanks!

  • Been having crashed all day long.. never had any issues before..

  • apple fanboy with apple shirt

  • plese dont makepeople read the article explain how in the videos please :)

  • GOOGLE is BIG GOVERNMENT, They are just collecting data to spy and create profiles on you.. So go ahead and install that government spyware!

  • @OwnageTk So what if they know things about you?

  • The guy in the striped shirt and Apple headphones pretty damn good points that no one else brought up. :\ HTML5 YouTube, in my experience, is so, so bad.

  • Why do we have to pay to sign up to gnomies?!

  • Flash... really never crashed on me lol.

  • People who don't use the Internet, does not need flash. For example, ikea website has a lot of flash. If you don't have flash support, good luck viewing the website!

  • I hope Flash will die soon in favor of HTML5. Flash crashes Firefox for me more than it does Chrome, at least Chrome does a good job at recovering from crashes.

  • Chris is still making those snow angels in his underwares!!

  • Hi, I am not Chris Pirillo!

  • I use Firefox when Chrome crashes, and that's frequent that it does.

  • Hi, I am not Chris Pirillo!

  • on my mac i don't have as many problems with flash but it is still a pain in the ass and google chrome has had a problem on all platforms with 100 percent cpu usage which is why I had to stop using it unfortunately

  • may flash player gitter on video when playing movies on novamovdotcom

its start out fine at first then in time gives the shit stop dance, it really sucks, no wonder on my andriod movies are from that site needs to be download than played! FLASH SUCK realy!

  • Is it just me or is some videos here on youtube in html5 and in flash?

if so they are testing it out i guess

  • It happens in firefox too. With firefox I have to open my windows task manager and end the progress for "plugin-container.exe" and refresh the page.

  • I never have problems with flash. Never.. I'm not even gonna knock on wood.. Yeah, flash uses a lot of resources, but the few times it crashes on me I'm not complaining. Maybe it has crashed 3 times in recent memory.

  • Anybody who doesn't use flash, doesn't visit many websites.

  • It was Firefox that crashed a lot when using flash, so for the past 6 months I've been using Chrome.... no flash problems (yet)!

  • flash kills my linux >:/

  • I dislike flash so damn much. Silverlight is.. different.

  • My browser hardly ever crash. I haven't had flash problems since 2004 or so. And I use Chrome.

  • It baffles me that so many people on internet who gives so much little information just talking about topics that are mainly pointless and they get money out of it and i feel like it's very dirty business specially Chris Pirillo he's a scam artist.

  • If you want a good browser that doesn't crash, stops responding all of a sudden, easy to use and takes way less time to boot and recovers your tabs and webpages exactly to the way it was before. than your best option is with Google Chrome. Don't get sucked in with all this IE B.S.

  • @McKenna654 there had to be some dickhead to comment on that...

  • It happens to me rarely. I don't know if we should move away just yet. Unless we have a solid alternative that works across all platforms we should keep at this present moment.

  • My only problem with chrome:

    6 tabs = 1.4GB of memory used

    IE9 same 6 tabs = 600MB of memory used

  • @plotikai It strongly depends on what tabs you had open and the amount of other programs running at the time. I never use IE anymore because it crashes way to much (even after I tried disabling add-ons).

  • @plotikai why would you even know that IE fact?

  • that guy has a bad studder

  • @McKenna654 because he can totally help it.. right?

  • in my google chrome doesn't flash but is sloooooooooooooooooooow and only in google chrome

  • Great post by the way

  • Flash has crashed on me soooooooo many times it becomes very annoying

  • I've experienced seemingly random Flash crashes with Chrome as well. It can be very inconvenient, but Chrome is very good at restoring sessions for me. I'm usually on YouTube when it happens, so the one gripe I have is how it can't resume my video where it left off.

  • Funny, I use Firefox and Flash crashes only once a month or so. What the actual **** are you guys doing on Google Chrome?

  • Lets just make something clear, not everyone is going to tablets. Yes they are portable fun have long battery life and are fast. However for productivity, and lets be honest that's what the majority of our computer time is used for, tablets are for all intensive purposes useless.

  • That's why I use HTML 5 and all apple products

  • That's why we

  • I agree that flash is not good

  • Flash doesn't actually crash in Chrome on my macbook pro. However, it does end up eating about 900mb of ram and an entire CPU core after a while.

  • How are we supposed to thumbs down now?!

  • Ahh... I think you pronounced "completely horrible" when you said "poorly optimized"

  • it needs an update just like any old code does like the jump from html to html 5 it desperately needs an update.

  • I know some people call Flash Crash because that is what it is good at doing, Flash seems to be the best on Windows, but on Mac and other Unix OSes it is poor (tho 64 bit flash crashes a little less than 32 bit flash)

  • So many good looking people with amazing voices.

  • IE9 !!

  • Netflix is slow switching to HTML5.

  • you should know that there are still people out there that hates apple.. like me hehe.. apple products = over priced!

  • @dmcchas

That's what you get when you buy a brand name like apple.

  • @dmcchas Overpriced for a reason, my first Ipod still works. I bought it in '03 and it was used!

I've never bought any other Apple products, but I'm probably going to.

  • and this is why i use firefox.

  • chrome sucks cos of the white flas everytime you open and close tabs yet a multimillion dollar company cant even fix it firefox is better cos it doesnt have that problem

  • I'm not afraid to say... I LOVE FLASH! <3

  • I'm a fedora/debian user ..I've yet to have flash crash on me using firefox and seamonkey ...

  • I never have my flash crash..

  • Never crashes for me on Chrome or Android. This seems like a good excuse for u to complain about certain platforms.

  • @Jaythanc I've always had issues with flash, now for the best two days I can't close a youtube video without having to restart my browser.

  • @Jaythanc Crashes for me all the time. Too bad because I really love Chrome. I'm going back to Mozilla but I'll be back if this gets fixed. Unless if Mozilla makes something faster than Chrome.

  • The only time flash has ever been a problem for me is on Youtube.

That video was kind of annoying to watch, but I still listened to it in the background.

  • is this guy kanye west, where is chris lol.

  • yeah we need flash !! it's more optimized for HD and has many features !! what i hate on youtube is the stupid html5 player that been forced on us in some videos and can't even play 1080p !-_-!

  • use linux end of story

  • Choose Chrome and you never go wrong. It just works!

  • I do html5 for a living and violently hate working with flash. However, html5 is horribly inefficient right now CPU wise, while flash works perfect on older platforms. As long as the corporate and government worlds are all on ie7 real REAL html5 is not an option for consumer applications.

  • Flash never clashes for me on Google Chrome. Windows 7 64bit.

  • wtf is this shit? WHERE IS CHRIS?

  • Wait.....if Chrome is the ONLY browser with the crash issue shouldn't Chrome fix their browser? My Android phone never crashes Flash My wife's laptop running Windows XP does crash Flash using Chrome so she just opens her Mozilla browser without a problem.

  • not hating or anything.

But when the guy started stuttering, I thought the video was crashing again...I was about to swear out lol

Since a few weeks ago, my laptop's been jamming up and then BSOD or come back alive while minimal number of tabs(less than 10) and around 3 flash.

The same happens with Firefox, so is it a problem with the windows version of flash that's giving all the troubles?

  • Flash has been GARBAGE on Chorme lately....

  • The article is a bit long winded.

  • Chrome crashes all the time.

  • I haven't had ANY crashes for 2 years whilst using it on Linux :)

  • Flash works just fine with me. It's goggle's fault for not making their browser not optimized for Flash.

  • The only time flash crashes on me is after having the browser open with a lot of flash sites and videos at once for a long period of time.

  • I use chrome dev, its the best :D

  • i like superman more than flash

  • Chrome FTW.

  • FIREFOX!
