  • i love this, except i would never be out in the woods with anti freeze.... too bad

  • I just hope that YouTube is still functioning when the zombie apocalypse happens

  • how long does it last? I wonder, cuz plan on camping..

  • @JEphradu depends how much liquid u got

  • how many times can you use this?

  • @ccavute

Doubt it. Blowing up requires oxygen to be thoroughly mixed with the heet's fumes, which "never" happens in closed containers.

  • now i can make my own meth !

  • I'm going to make a bigger version of this stove, it will consist of two hubcaps and a gallon of gasoline!

  • @whoflugdoo Get well soon!( in advance)

  • sure this thing will never gonna blow up? O.o|||

  • @thephilarmy5 since wen is fibreglass illegal, the attic in your house with be full of it as its just insulation, you can get it at diy shops

  • cute

  • what is "heet"?

  • @nyj0l0te basically alcohol, its used to remove water from gasoline

  • How do you turn it off?

  • bestofyoutube <3

  • I CAnt turn it off!!!!!!

  • @awesumo7

I think if you isolate it completely from air by placing something on top of it it would turn off.

  • @awesumo7 LMFAO at the fact that you Commented on youtube while in an emergency, you could tell it was an emergency comment because of the 6!!!!!! exclamation marks LOL, Just pee on it!!!!!!

  • Jeeze, that is honestly amazing. I'm going to need to remember this if I ever go Backpacking.

  • stumbled today i likey

  • so you need a stove to make a mini stove

  • Now banned by BSA...

  • just tried it out, i used cotton, and 99.953% anhydrous alcohol (meaning it has no water in it, but instead acetone) which you can get at an electronic store (like fry's)

  • Could you use a material other than fiberglass to make this?

  • @nanargooberblat you could probably use 100% cotton

  • @nanargooberblat I am sure cotton will work

  • this is definitely going in my bug out bag

  • Im in a town with no gas stoves, and electric stoves suck. so here i am

  • where do you get those kind of razors?

  • @TheHxclacey There Exacto knife razors there in knifes sections.

  • Será que isso aí funciona mesmo??

  • your methods were totally ingenious!

  • first 15 seconds sounds like an episode of Keenan and Kel

  • is there anything else i could use other than fiberglass???? because its ilegal in the UK..........

  • @thephilarmy5 uhh, no its not.

  • perfect for ma meth

  • Tip of the hat sir^ ^

  • heet is straight isopropal acohol.

really cool stove, going to the store to buy pop now.

  • fiberglass and HEET? and then burning that? is that a safe chemical reaction to cook food with? ha just wondering . . .

  • Very well done, Really, there was nothing not cover very well. I haven't been camping for a long time, but I want to make some of these, then as needed put the liquid as you want to use them. We have times in the winter when we loose our electiricity, some times for as many as 10days. Sorry there are some stupid people making stupid comments. Because you did a great job.

  • it worked!!!

  • I stumbled apon this :D

  • @Gamescare i did too

  • typo there, sorry.

  • My cans won't fit into each other any tips plz help

  • @cinnymini14 @cinnymini14 Use identical cans (beer and soda cans differ sometimes). Then stretch one as shown on the vid. If you do that correctly you'll be left with one that is just slightly bigger in diameter than the other - giving a good tight fit. I've made multiple beer can stoves and never failed to fit the cans. Good luck.

  • Too cool!

  • Lol I won't bring any pots and pans with me to go camping but I'll bring some fiberglass so I can make one... still pretty cool

  • How do you turn off the mini stove?

  • Do you need big holes on it

  • @marcmenzies13

The smaller holes will make a taller flame, and larger will create shorter. You have to play around and make what works for you.

Rubbing alcohol is cheaper, and burns just as well. 70% is fine.

  • so kool but can i ues ronsol

  • What's heat

  • THATS GENIUS!

  • Dude, why is this awesome? CAUSE IT ISSSS!

  • cooL!

  • Okay. So I'm doin the SHT. Was considering this stove to take along, or a couple of them. None have passed testing.

    Pros: Light, cool, creative

Negs: Took 1/2 bottle of Heet to prime (Fiberglass may have been too dense), Heet is poisonous. Flame jets weren't as video demonstrated.

As of now, I'm going to stick with my MSR WindPro.

  • what will happen if you dont use fiberglass

  • i made a few of these, and they are all AMAZINGLY efficient stoves. i just used one and timed how long it would burn. i used 1oz of denatured alcohol and it burned for about 22 minutes.

    GREAT LITTLE STOVE!!!

  • easier is to use a bonbon box (I use something called Kalfany bonbons, 10cm in width, 3.5 cm in height metal, circular.

simply put holes in the outer circle of the lower part, and you are done. You can use the box to hold fire starter, tinder, even plastic bag of fuel.

when using, you can put the pot directly on the bonbon can, fire comes from around and it is strong enough to hold 2,3 kg pots, maybe even more.

Much easier than the can stove above. But can stove is still great.

  • I don't have any of those things lying around my place!

  • @ThcPatient really? no hangers, tacs or cans?

  • Mine worked. I used cotton balls instead fiber glass. Also I found dumping a little extra dry gas on top to start it was easier then priming it.

  • now all i gotta do is buy some fiberglass insulation and HEET and i got myself a stove

  • @xeeweexRC you can just use denatured alcohol and it does the exact same thing.

  • I tried to make one but no succes yet. Some questions: Can I use cotton instead of Fiber Glass And can I use Kerosene instead of Heet ?

  • @mieske33

No, and no. you can do it without the fiberglass though, and use rubbing alcohol. Some people get results by setting the stove on a pan, putting a little fuel on that pan, and lighting it to heat it up. Also make sure to cover the fill hole with a penny or something.

  • SO genius. I am thoroughly impressed at the moment.

  • How long does a "few" talbespoons last?

  • where do we get fiber glass??

  • STUMBLED

  • MacGyver Rocks

  • Very cool.

  • How many times can you use it?

  • Bojiggly awesome

  • If you forgot to pay the electric bill, you're probably not watching this.

  • @HooperXP then that means you're probably not reading your comment either O.o

  • @HooperXP electric doesn't have anything to do with the internet...

  • @heybitchsitonmyface ya your right you dont need electricity to run your computer or what ever you are using to watch these videos...

  • who the fck said you have to be at your house to use your computer/internet dude? that's all I'm saying, there are plenty of other places you could be besides your house to watch this video. and I'm not using a computer, I'm using my cellphone. which would have nothing to do with my house's electricity bill.

  • @heybitchsitonmyface goodluck charging it at your house if you dont pay your bill

  • @heybitchsitonmyface Yeah, especially if you have a battery powered router...oh wait, i've NEVER seen one

  • @PowerHeal00 i have one :)

  • you also do not ahve to have a router to access the internet.

  • @barewoodb15 But the thing is, if you aren't watching this on a computer/laptop then it's unlikely that you are going to watch a video about a homemade improvised stove on your iPhone/smartphone

  • @HooperXP i have a laptop with full battery left lol

  • @HooperXP youtube on your phone?

  • @HooperXP touchdown for THE most awesome reaction on (all of) youtube. You rock

  • fiberglass can be treated with formaldehyde - once you burn this stove for the first time any toxins in the glass is burned off. you are more likely to encounter issues from the HEET (methylated spirits) so ALWAYS use this outdoors. It is intended as a backpacking stove anyway...

HEET is found at any Auto Store or in auto dept. of discount places like Walmarrt

  • DO NOT DO THIS WITH FIBERGLASS. It is toxic and releases noxious fumes when burned. Soaking cotton should be fine. Why did the author choose fiberglass instead of cotton?!

  • @mkmmalone it's not the firberglass which is being burned. Although i agree with you that you should use cotton instead, it should be fine to use the fiberglass since it is only the gas which is burning. The fiberglass is only there to absorb the fuel and release it slowly as a gas/vapor. Ignition doesn't happen until it is exposed to oxygen outside the can.

  • freakin awesome

  • what is a bottle of heet please rit back

  • @xXVERMENWASHEREXx google it

  • I'll hopefully have those items when I'm homeless.

  • 

  • o ya, Dont smell the zippo gas or even breath it in or anything, may give you VERY bad consequences

  • @NightLord356 zippo gas makes me happy

  • @er1cj im not happy with it :( alcohol is better, zippo's eveporated gas is very toxic and is bad your health ._.

  • Simple Explanation~.~

    1.Fibre Glass take about 1000 degrees(celcius(not 100% sure))+ too burn

2.Fibre Glass is perfect for it cause it won't burn, use wool, not cloth,it will take more time to burn the bottom because cloth is thick and you need to squish it toghter.

3.When liquid gas/heet evaporates, It produces gas as usual ~.~

4.The Gas is used to burn as the top shown :D

    5.I'm 13 and I'm Malaysian :D Half Japanese,Half chinese :D :D :D :D VOTE UP SO EVERYONE CAN SEE THE EXPLANATION :D :D :D :D

  • All~Please use fibre glass(wool) =D,i used cloth, took a long 3 minutes for burning the bottom then i only can light the top

  • Hey do you have to replace the fiberglass or cotten

  • @fusionfast98 No, The fiberglass doesn't burn. Its the fumes that burn, not the liquid itself. It is there to soak up the fuel. It is exactly the same principle as the Zippo lighter.

  • Can I use regular lighter fluid instead of heet?

  • @1zacster you can sue alcohaul gas or any other burning liquid*

  • This works great.Just be careful of the flame. In daylight, you cannot see the flame.

  • i made one and the cops took it they said i was making a potential bomb and they would have to test it they took alll my books gunpowder etc. i got handcuffed and searched then robbbed by the cops for being young

  • Check the insulation before you use it. It could contain formaldehyde.

I haven't seen an A&W Root Beer can in quite a while.

  • That is so cool! Thanks for the video.

  • dude that's awesome.. i wanna try this just for the sake of trying it

  • I made this and used cotton instead of fiberglass and work great. p.s. It's a lot harder than it looks to put the cans together.

  • @rodeoman111 its quite dangerous if the guy create a big hole and cotton burns easily, u can use cotton but fiber glass best suggested ,even-though it is quite expensive ~.~

  • This is a good video. I made the same the thing only a little taller and I use a Pepsi can and Guiness draught can. The draught can is just a slight diamter smaller than the Pepsi can. They fit together perfectly. I also take a third can, cut the bottom out of it, pour a little fuel in it and then set the main stove in it, to prime with. Works well. Also, I cut a coffee can in half, instead of coat hangers. It works well if you do it right and it all fits together and is very portable.

  • lighter fluid>

  • how long it will be burning?

  • nive video, for real

  • With this heet method does the fiberglass burn up after one use? or does it last for a LONG time? If so I think id rathar just buy esbit or trioxane. Thats the trouble in choise. Weighting the cost vs trouble with messing with shitt fuels. esbit and trioxane cost about $1 to cook a meal really HOT, while lint/vasoline and alcohol are cheap but are a hassle to burn and arent as reliable. Thats what ive learned.

  • The fiberglass is just a wicking material. It will last a very long time. If the stove is tipped over, the wick prevents spillage and a fire.

  • The fiberglass doesnt burn at all, the vapors burn that are held by the fiber glass

  • Im form Mexico and we dont have HEET here. Is there anything else to use so it'll burn nicely? I used ligther fuel but it burns out really fast and the flames were very big.

  • You can use denatured alcohol which is usually a mixture of methanol and ethanol.

  • Buy denatured alcohol in the paint section of your local hardware store.

  • I don't know what I did wrong. It didn't work for me.

  • me too i tried to make it and it didnt work. i did use a different kind of insulation but i didnt think it made that much of a difference

  • hello

did you pre-heat your mini stove?

i followed directions and did not use alcohol instead of Alcohol i used zippo fluid and work fine but it does not if you forgot the preheating

i make mine with a electrical insulation fiber

    cheers!

  • hi

i did preheat it but it stil would not work ill try agian and use some elect. insulation fiber

    thanks

  • i bet itll work better with no insulation ;] coz there is a direct contact between the prime heat and the heat from the jet allowing the alcohol vapor to have a higher pressure

  • just like that ay...

  • that's cool..I will try it

  • Can i use cotton instead of fiberglass?

  • yes, i believe so.

  • No if u use cotton it will burn fiberglass can't burn..it only glows..maybe..but cotton will burn

  • cotton burns, fiberglass does not. Do the math :)

  • can you use cotton balls

  • Lol, i saw this on Metacafe before here..

  • is dat cotton?

  • I'm Gonna Try That! But i think ill use lighter fluid.

  • can you use somthing else instead of heet?

  • i used 70% isopropyl alcohol...its just that you need to heat it up for a longer time before lighting it up

  • how about lighter fluid?

  • NO!

  • HEET is the best product to use. Isopropyl alcohol etc. etc. is a "no-no" it will not give you the type of burn you need to boil or heat something up. NO to cotton balls also- it just burns right up too fast, actually you can just use "HEET" by itself without the fiberglass, but if you fee you "have to" use another aid (which you don't) then use fiberglass but I wouldn't especially when you can just use the HEET itself.

  • first of all you dont just use cotton balls by their self. Your sposed to mix them up really good with vasoline. And cotton balls are shit, use dryer lint instead. They are very cheap to make and it takes about 10 minutes to boil 3 cups of water with a ball the size of a golf ball. It is howevery very messy and will leave a black greasy sut on the out side of your metal drinking/eating cup. But thats the trade off for 5 dollars of vasoling and enouf fuel for 10 meals worth of vasoline and lint.

  • thats freaking awesome and i mean absolutely freaking awesome

  • nice
