I tried following the tutorial and as sure I as I am its good.. you have really poor teaching skills... try actually explaining what you press and how you do it.. not just do it and be like oh yeah i done that... moving on. fool.
@AdriianFTW I'm gathering that either you're not using your eyes whilst watching this video or you have literally just bought photoshop. If you are new to photoshop then I would suggest watching a few "Introduction to photoshop tuts" to familiarize yourself with the software. However if you struggled with a specific area, ask and the answer will be given, just like others have taken the opportunity to ask questions depending on their learning level within photoshop.
I think this is very possible in Gimp however I'm not an expert on that software. These tuts are just for PS users. but I'm sure there are tuts out there for Gimp users
@elspiko2008 I see your point but I'm not sure if you are aware that you can use shapes and the pen tool in to create vector shapes (which are scalable). This tut is specific to Photoshop users to help them utilize the software to the best of it's ability.
@LRDFactory thanks for answering. yeah, I know there are scalable shapes in photoshop, too. but the layer style effect like the inner shadow isn't scalable the way it should be. if you resize your logo, the layer style will look different. if you want to keep the look, you must change the layer style values or rasterize the whole logo.
@LRDFactory when it comes to layer styles; anyone following this tutorial should have the freedom to make tweaks depending on preference.
To maintain the same layer styles when scaling the best thing to do would be to convert the logo to a smart object. By doing this you can then make the design scaleable whilst maintaining the quality of the layer styles.
@LRDFactory However this tutorial is here to give direction on how to create a logo, so hopefully after watching this others can take these techniques and apply them to their own designs within the formats they are working in.
@justGreaves Good idea! That would definitely work as a final design however this logo was made up for tutorial purposes so we made the emblem big for viewing purposes.

This kind of logo should be done in Illustrator, not Photoshop, so it is scalable without quality loss. ;)
