This is opening in the Masquerde Theatre a few hours from my home!! I WILL GOOOOO, even if i have to drive myself(this is where everyone thinks, "what?", but it is what any obsessed seventh grader(such as me) would do!!!)
In the middle of his success after the Phantom of the Opera (i think) Anthony was diagnosed with Leukemia (lymphoma) and of course he stop performing for years after chemotherapy. It was a big lose for industry .... the reason why Butler Coccioni and others came into view ... not as good as Anthony Warlow but performed well on their own right.
I think I might like Rob Evan's vocals better (no offence, for this guy is absolutely amazing!) but I REALLY like the orchestra in this one more than the electric sound of Evan's. THIS SHOW IS FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!! (was this song cut from the show or something? 'cause I've loved the show for a while and I just recently found this song...)
I love love love this song!!!!! Tredegar Operatic just finished Jekyll and Hyde and Kristian was amazing!! My favorite songs from this musical.... I need to know, Alive, A new life, Somone like you, Confrontation... basically every song :L Amazing show! Amazing Music!!!!!!!!! xxx Woop!!!
This is an amazing song and Warlow delivers it again!!! It tells so much about the character and the tragic consequences of his curiosity and genius. It reminds me a little bit of Frankenstein because he dedicated himself exclusively to his studies and attempt to create life, he needed to know as well - only he didn't do it for such a noble reason as Dr. Jekyll did!
He wasn't insane or obsessed prior to his experiments. Techincally, he was trying to find a way to solve the reasons why some people can be so evil and find a cure. Tragically, he went about it the wrong way and he destroyed himself. :(
But if you compare the songs though, first Jekyll was about saving his Father alongside others from suffering the same fate his father had. Then Jekyll pretty much gained an obsession to create that balance, even sacrificing himself. Even the lyrics and the tones of the songs pretty much explains them
The point of the show is to prove the evil already exists inside of us. By giving him a noble intention like saving his father, they ruined that plot line. He should be in it for his own selfish need to have fame and glory.
There is no comparison, Warlow never played the role on broadway, frankly this is the only jekyll and hyde album he has ever done, Colm Wilkinson is a better comparison to Warlow bcuz Colm never played the role on broadway either.
I don't understand why the cast didn't do this song in the show

Warlow is absolutely my favorite Jekyll, solely because of his vocals. That final note....gah. Beautiful.

Pitty that Warlow never performed this role on Broadway. He's the best Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde ever.

Far and away a superb version of this song. Warlow's incomparable voice does simply fantastic things with the entire score.

Warlow is the absolute best Jekyll and Hyde! Too bad he was never on Broadway.

This reminds me so much of Dr. Faustus/

Hmm... that's an interesting interpretation. I like it =)
Feareous 2 years ago 2
@AtLastOnTheGround I knew it reminded me of a somewhat archetypal elizabethan tragiedy/morality play stage drama! Thankyou!

This song made me feel so much more for the idealistic, misguided Jekyll than 'Lost in the Darkness.'
Jacobitess 2 years ago 2
Agreed. Lost in The Darkness mostly expresses his good intentions, when this song shows his insanity and obsession over the balance of good and evil
