Nunchaku were a farm tool, when the Samurai invaded Okinawa martial arts or at least weapons were banned so folks adopted farm tools as weapons. Not saying Ninja never used them - I'm sure they used what they could as a tool or weapon but at it's not taught in the Bujinkan.Kobudo and forms of karate have adopted it.
Wikipedia : "The most common martial arts to use nunchaku are the Chinese-Okinawan and Okinawan martial arts such as some forms of karate/kobudo but not in ninjutsu"
nunchaku are not a ninja weapon theres not one example of nunchaku on the main islands of japan. sorry you need to do a bit more research, i bet you think it was a farmers tool still.
Thanks for your comment. You are right, would look better with music, but to be honest, it is not a video to show off. It is to track progress, and primarily for me. I make it public because it is just easy to make it so. Maybe one day when I consider myself good enough -if that time ever comes- I'll make one with music and mixing all what I know there!
It doesn't look so good to me. It is actually quite slow, because I hadn't trained with this weapon for three months. But thanks anyway! And ninjas, as far as I know and have been trained, would use any weapon, anywhere, anytime. But most teachers teach different from each other I guess...
The okinawan style I am learning uses wooden shafts with octagonal cross-section, and the second group of basic moves includes a catch under the armpit, but I continually strike the inside of my elbow, and MAN does that hurt! It almost makes me gunshy if I wasn't so determined to get through it! Gambatte!
Probably you need more circularity in the movement. I initiate all my sesions with very ample circular moves in all directions, going from slow motion to a faster pace. I fink that effective
Although it does use mostly the wrist, waki-shita dori isn't so dependent on the joint rotation is it is the timing of bringing the upper arm towards the torso, and the aim of the swing. And our 2hr classes are more than half flexability and strengthening exercises first before we do any martial arts work.
Nunchaku is not a NINJA weapons kos i also learning NInjutsu..but iT'S good to knows and practice others weapons.

Looks good. Btw ninjas din't use nunchaks, since nunchaks are from Okinawa and Ninjutsu comes from another part of Japan.
