  • I went on a low carb diet for 3 years and all it did was make me have brain fog, hypertension, mood swings, constipated and have very low energy and lower back pain and accumulated waste in my colon.

  • @beki4peace Nice to see the vegetarian evangelists showing up with the usual b.s. propaganda. (Hypertension, really? Ya'll need to get together for a tofu dinner and re-work your talking points. Low-carb diets have been shown to lower blood pressure more than hypertension medications.)

  • Great! Now you can eat all the butter, dairy, meat and eggs as you want! Good for you!

  • @durainriders Great, your just another bitch who is an idiot. We ate mostly animal fat in evolution days dumbass. We couldn't harvest fruits and vegetables in evolution because we were too short. And also, ever heard of cavemen hunting mammoths? Take a look at this book: Good Calories, Bad Calories by Gary Taubes.

  • @techbeast34 Even when modern humans (as we know today) were hunter gatherers they ate very little fruits and berries and lots of meat and fat.

  • @sueryun Well, the science is completely true. Many people have wrote about this and this sort of information has been featured on Readers Digest, so it is true if it is coming from multiple trusted sources.

  • This is just too good to be true, I can eat all the butter and fatty beef I want?! but not having the potatoes on the side..=(

  • Olives are fruit people. They can't make vegetable oils.

  • How about organic cold pressed canola oil? Healthy or unhealthy when used for dressing?

  • @Naile69 Cold pressed is always better, but I don't bother with canola oil at all. The popularity of canola is based on the theory that saturated fats will kill us and monosaturates will save us, which simply isn't true. If I want monosatured dressing, I'll choose olive oil.

  • @Naile69 Absoltely nothing healthy about canola oil. never mind the "cold pressed" or "organic" logos. It's the great Canadian invention pushed by the industry. It is toxic. best cold pressed oil is Olive Oil.

  • What about grapeseed oil?

  • i love that woman

  • THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT TWO THINGS HERE POLYUNSATURATED VEGETABLE OILS AND TRANSFATS MADE FROM POLYUNSATURATED VEGTETABLE OILS

  • @canaan1967 They are two different things. Hydrogenated oils (trans fats) are horrible. But even non-hydrogenated vegetable oils can cause inflammation and damage health. Humans weren't meant to consume soybean oil and corn oil. You can't squeeze corn and get a cup of oil out of it, like you can with olives.

  • @FatHeadMovie

That is what I meant essentially. Polyunsaturated vegetable oils cause atherosclerosis and Hydrogenated fats (many made with vegetable oils, not just corn) interfere with the cell membrane.

  • @canaan1967 You got it.

  • @FatHeadMovie

Dr. Eades and his wife gets a thumbs down from Weston Price for their book. He doesn't write about the problems with liquid vegetable oils. I think that is why i mentioned that there are two issues here.

  • @canaan1967 That's a little odd. Dr. Eades is no fan of most vegetable oils, at least not now. I think he recognized the dangers with many of them after the first two Protein Power books came out.

  • @FatHeadMovie

I might be wrong about the Vegtable oils but Eades and his wife have some puzzling recommendations in their book and website like using artificial sweeteners instead of sugar. So even with "alternative" nutritionists and MDs you find a lot of half baked politically correct information which is why I trust Weston A Price Foundation.

  • @canaan1967 Wow! Sally Fallon looks out of shape compared to how she used to look. Is a high fat diet healthy? I mean we didnt have chickens, cows, dairy, cream, oil back in evolution days. We had fruits and veg. How come these fat promoters are fat emselves? Im an athlete and cant afford to listen to fatties chewing the fat!

Have you's read the book called Skinny Bitch? By Rory Freedman.

  • @durianriders Maybe you haven't considered the fact that older people have less mobility and thus can't exercise as much or as vigorously as they did when they were younger. Furthermore, looking a little fat isn't an issue as Tom Naughton demonstrated. A person with some extra weight who exercises regularly and eats foods low on the glycemic index is healthier than a skinny person who doesn't need to exercises and eats foods higher on the glycemic index.

  • @durianriders Sally looks great (haircut notwithstanding...), especially for a likely post-menopausal woman in her late 50's.

You've never been able to appreciate that not everyone wants to be a depleted, obsessed 'athlete' like yourself because they've got plenty of other things they'd rather do with their spare time. Similarly, not everyone has the gall to live off a disability pension allowing them to sleep 15 hours a day and eat fruit, shit, piss and cycle the rest of their days away.

  • does vegetable oil include olive oil? it shouldn't because olives are fruits i suppose, but it's listed as a vegetable oil on some sources...

  • @GeatMaster Olive oil is fine. You can just squeeze olives to get the oil, and humans have been eating the stuff for a long time. It's the oils that require chemical extraction you should avoid.

  • @goofyreligion3

Exactly. The producer of this film should have interviewed his guests about the connection between Polyunsaturated OIl and it's ability to promote atherosclerosis. It's politically correct to be against Trans Fat but we need more people speaking out against Polyunsaturates.

If you can find a local farm that you trust they will be happy to sell you their lard. You can also switch between using duck fat (D'Artagnan is a good brand) and coconut oil to fry.

  • Not just Trans Fats but Polyunsaturated Fats. They are both to be avoided. vegetable oils cause atherosclerosis.

  • @goofyreligion3 I beg to differ:

    Monounsaturated : Best

    Saturated: Good

    Polyunsaturated: Ok

  • @popim123erwq

Monounsaturated fat can still become rancid as it contains some polyunsaturated fat. Saturated fat is the best. Please go to Westonaprice . org to read the articles and studies that they critique.

  • A lot of scientists who preach but look unhealthy themself. I will personally listen to people like Jeanne Calment who made it to 122 years old. A fan of olive oil.

  • I'm so confused right now. I once read saturated fats were bad for you and this video states that it is good for you. Guess I'll try saturated fats and see how things turn out.

  • Depends where it comes from, animal fat, I personally stay away from. I get my fat from Salmon (omega 3) and COLD PRESSED olive oil (high in polyphenols) Anyone have any better ideas? I heard macadamia has a high smoke point but i might be allergic due to a nut allergy

  • @philipjterry

    Coconut oil. definately

  • @ericds33 why coconut oil?

Which is better coconut or olive oil?

  • @philipjterry

I guess coconut oil is the best of them all, for all around cooking. It's also great for the hair and some even say the skin. But olive oil is also very good, and can be used as salad dressing etc. It has a low smoke point though, and shouldn't be used for frying.

  • The idea that saturated fat is bad for you is wrong and based on faulty data.

  • lol, I know how to make crisco at home now! :-p

  • @goofyreligion3 Butter is good, it rates very high in polluted stuff by the FDA, organic is the way to go. Stay away from Lard ! Have you ever tried duck fat ? It's way cleaner than pig Lard. You can get it on the internet or specialty stores.

  • @goofyreligion3 rice bran oil has a high smoke point, like 450 degreese. It's good for frying. I use it when I pan fry chicken. I will never use soy bean oil again.

  • @goofyreligion3 So basically hygrogenated vegetable, soy, and seed oils are bad.

And tallow, olive, coconut are good, right? What other fats are good? Lard? Avocado? Rice bran? What are more good fat options that you know of? I really want to know.

  • You know, I've heard canola oil was good for you but when i used it It made my stomach hurt. Everyone is selling something so they all say thier stuff is the best, when it's really shit. I use raw organic coconut oil, rice bram oil and advocado oil.

  • Witch vegetable oils to you think are bad ?

  • all of them. no joke. go to the store and get a jar of vegetable oil and there's a 99.999999999999999% chance it's been bleached, filtered. and refined. all that processing makes the linoleic acids go rancid and depletes it of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants; resulting in empty calories, just like sugar

  • Yes we are omnivors. It looks like ancient man started off eating mostly vegies. Our bodies are set up to eat mostly veggies and some meat. Most folks, especially in America have fliped that. Mostly meat and a few veggies. Most people who live past 100 have the mostly plant based diet and meat is a treat. Ofcourse there are always the exception. Now there is junk food, MSG, genticly modified crap. I think my generation is going to be screwed if we dont change things.

  • i thought humans started off as hunters

  • @zbijesse no herbavores , than into hunter gatherers. It makes sence, early humans were probably not good hunters. We are slow, have no claws, bad eye sight. The only thing we got is our brain power, witch was not really developed yet.

  • @flubno good point(s)

  • @flubno Ancient man was primarily a meat eater and the most robust communities ate the least plant matter. The anthropological & archaeological evidence of the Late Paleolithic and contemporary primitive cultures supports the carnivorous hypothesis as well. Like many primates early hominids and the species leading into hominidae were highly insectivorous -- a type of carnivore.

  • @flubno

What? First off, our digestive tracks are closest to that of a dogs' as is our diet. Dogs are omnivores and work very well eating a lot of meat. Furthermore, I've never read that prehistoric man did NOT eat a LOT of meat. In fact, prehistoric man in Britain had a nearly 100% carnivorous diet.

  • We have a long , slow digestive track. Witch is associated with plant eaters. While full meat eaters have short digestive tracks. They can eat fat all day and it won't effect them much.

  • @flubno a person who doesn't know the difference between witch and which shouldn't be giving lectures.

  • Ever seen how long a herbivores digestive tract is? Much longer than a humans. A cow for example has 4 stomachs. That's whats miraculous about cows and herbivores, they can turn grass into meat, which we can't do. Then we can eat the herbivore who's spent her entire life eating tons and tons of grass.

  • First..pate is not eaten in all Mediterranean diets. Only the French eat much pate. My people are from Italy...no Frenchie pate eating going on there.

Second...what you're putting the oil on is crucial. If it's plenty of fresh veg you'll be fine and for that you want olive oil. You're going to put palm or coconut oil on a tomato cucumber salad? I don't think so. Who'd want to dip their bread in the juice after?

Are these people funded by the dairy industry?

  • No they are not funded by the dairy industry. They are very critical of the modern agribusiness. The fat soluble vitamins A and D can not be absorved room any other food source than from animal fats. They must be from animals that are free to graze on fresh grass and chickens allowed to graze on insects.

The vegetable oil industry has demonized the the meat industry. There are many well written articles about this on their website. One is called THE OILING OF AMERICA.

  • Sorry, the best source of vitamin D is from the sun and cod liver oil. Which they cover extensively on their website. They promote coconut oil and olive oil as well so it's not all about animals.

    Excuse spelling errors above.

  • Pigs are dirty animals and they are scavangers , they store toxins in thier fat so lard sucks. Tallow is beef fat and it is hard to find. Unrefinded, un processed coconut oil rocks and plam oil is good too. i ounce bought a jar of vegtable oil and i looked on the back for ingredinence and it just said soy bean oil. Why dont they just call it soy bean oil ? Most soy is genticly modified crap anyway.

  • about 99% of soybeans are GMO, sad...

  • Theres good and bad fats. Salmon, Avocados and Almonds are examples of foods that have good fat. Theres also good oils such as Olive oil and Grape Seed oil are very good and healthy. Also the body has a hard time digesting red meat.

  • My body doesn't have a hard time digesting red meat. When I was a grain-eating vegetarian, I needed Pepto Bismal every other day. No more.

We've been eating meat for a million years. Chimps eat meat and hunt for it. I'm pretty sure most of us have adapted.

  • I guess its just from what I've read and heard online. I dont want to have colon cancer at a young age so I try not to make red meat a part of my everyday diet. I think I eat it 4-5 times a month, although I cant remember the last time I had a steak. I mainly eat chicken, turkey and salmon. So the whole red meat being hard to break down in our bodies is just a myth?

  • I've read -- but can't confirm -- that it's partly related to blood type. Type O's were the early humans and do quite well with red meat. I'm one of those. In fact, I get lethargic if I don't eat red meat.

The "red meat causes cancer" theory is based on observational studies. Those often turn out to be wrong because there are so many uncontrolled variables.

There are plenty of hunting societies where people eat lots of red meat, but cancer rates are very low.

  • i think you guys are both right. it really depends on how YOUR body reacts, not some author of an article's body

  • @snickerdoodle69420 I know grass-fed meat does not cause colon cancer. In Argentina, they eat lots of red meat but have low rates of colon cancer. However, in the US, our rates of colon cancer are higher. It's more expensive for farmers in ARgentina to feed corn to their cattle than grass, so red meat in Argentina is grass-fed.

  • Very convincing. But so are the vegetarian theories. Tell me, then why is it hard for us to digest raw meat?

  • I've never tried to digest raw meat, and not sure I'd want to. But cooking implements date back hundreds of thousands of years, so cooked meat may be what we're adapted to now.

  • Because we should eat liver, brain of animals, muscle is hard to digest.

    lion, tiger don't eat muscle...

  • rofl, good luck on that. I'd eat a urinal cake before eating liver or brain.

    steak for the win

  • And raw grains?

    And raw Legumes?

I repeat we can digest raw liver, brain and other, but muscle is hard to digest...

  • vegetarian hypotheses aren't convincing.

And is it all that hard to digest raw meat? I've tried it several times, it's not bad once you get used to it.

  • humans have vegetarian style stomachs and teeth. Our ancient ancestors started off as vegie's and evoled into plant/meat eaters. We do not have the eynzimes in our stomach that kills deadly bacteria in raw or rotten meat. Full meat eaters have this, like wolfs. thats why we have to cook or cure our meat and eat freshly dead meat, not old decomposing meat.

  • I watched the movie first time in a Turkish TV. I must confess that the arguments were very persuasive and comply with my Grandparents sayings (who are very thin!)..Nowadays I am trying low carb diet and it works!

  • We should have all listened to our grandparents!

  • I have switched my diet this week, from near Vegetarian, low-fat, high carb, as a result of this film and the info by G. Taubes' lecture. I used to eat more sat. fats, less carbs, but got scared by the Anti-Atkins hype!

My husband, son, and I all suffer health problems, and we have done all of the "right things." Well we are now enjoying all of the WRONG things and I know we'll be better off. :)

  • I sure felt better after giving up the carbs and going back to natural fats, including saturated fats. I've seen it work wonders for other people too.

Log back in sometime and let me know how it's going.

  • @Clarion13

You have to give yourself credit for being an independent thinker. So many people are presented with this information but tragically still believe that "authority" or "public policy" has their interests at hand. It will make shopping a lot easier although a bit more expensive.

  • @Clarion13

During the last 15 month I cured a massive cardiac illness by 75 % (rest in the making) and lost 28 pounds!

No Docs, meds, esoterism, healers, supplements, or wse! Simply by following free advices I've found on the web!

By 80 to 100 % I avoid: bread, milk, noodles, potatoes, rice, sugar and industry salt!

I drink a lot of reverse osmosis filtered water (4 to 6 quarts per day) with about 1/5 ounce of Himalayan salt per day! Life's great!

    See: watercure d c

    Greetz!

  • somebody is lying on one side or the other and they need to be killed. i really hate people who put their greed above human welfare.

i, until recently, believed the low fat less meat crowd. i've been a vegetarian or near vegetarian since 1980 and after the first few yrs. where i felt amazing, i've basically felt awful for 2 decades but i lay it off on other health reasons too, other than diet but probably related.

  • Glad you enjoyed the film. Enjoy that sausage.

  • Seriously, I can't stress enough how impressed I am by the honesty and clarity of presentation of the info in Fat Head.

For the past fifteen years or so I'd heard rumblings and whispers about the values of our traditional diet (eggs, meats, cheese, etc.) but not until Mr. Naughton so intelligently organized and presented this info did it finally seem...well, REAL.

GREAT job on the film! Now I'm off to fry up a skillet of link sausages and Spam. Yummy, yummy Spam!

  • My sense is that people don't really get how important this message is.

They seem willing to do almost anything to lose weight, but when something comes along that can actually make a difference, most people are incredibly sceptical, even without knowing anything at all about the subject.

People need to buy this documentary and raise their consciousness. Keep on fighting the good fight!

  • I'm definitely keeping at it. The blog is my way of continuing the fight now that the film is out.

  • It's so difficult to get people to listen to nutrition facts while they're eating their egg white omelets and acting like mainstream dieting is just fine. Videos like this help to make things clear! Thank you for posting :-)

  • It's an uphill battle, but I'll keep posting.

  • Keep rocking man !
