  • To me, this was the Eagles at their best with Bernie and Randy. Don Felder, who had recently joined, is playing the steel pedal guitar.

  • I just looove her little crooked tooth smile!

  • Absolutely Beautiful in every way,can never get enough.her stone poneys became The Eagles.Yet another of my all time favorites.A class act.

  • 1977

Hitch hiking North on the fwy ramp just opposite the Biltmore Hotel in Santa Barbara

A limo from that side stops 40 ft beyond me

The front passenger door opens and I think no way

Out comes a 3 piece suit who gives me a stop sign with one hand and clears his holster with the other (body guard)

From the fighting in the passenger compartment comes Ms Ronstadt & walks back to the hotel (not her body guard) Security for the other was super tight I decided it was Mr Brown who pissed her off

  • the only reason she's not in the rock n roll hall of fame is.....THEY HAVE NO DAMN SENSE!!!!

  • @dpruett7

I agree with you she deserves to be in the hall of fame hell she put the Eagles together

  • i remember her on "Don Kirshner's Rock Concert." She was hotter than a Habenero!!!!

  • Can someone please tell me if this particular version of this song with "The Eagles" was ever released by Linda. I( have come acroos one cd on eBay with it on but would like to get this version. They do each other very proud. Big THANK YOU for loading this one here. Gary

  • I used to buy my tools at her father's hardware store in Tucson. Ronstadt's Hardware Store.

  • It truly is a shame that this incredible performer is not in the R&R Hall of Fame. Her absence gives the Hall less credibility IMO

  • @QMPhilosophe I have just asked the question on the Hall Of Fame website as to why Linda is not in the Hall of Fame. I suggest everyone who "LOVES" Linda and her talent do the same. The site is hallfame.com. If enough people do it and we know the number of people worldwide who go on here then maybe Linda will get the accolades she so rightly deserves. Gary

  • Quite the voice back in the day.

  • have u seen here in trio? great stuff

  • Linda is immortal - you sort of had to be there to get it. Everyone says Linda was hot . . . well she was! And she could deliver a song too. Still takes my breath away . . .

  • I remember watching this on TV and it was the first time I seen Linda. Immediately fell in love with her.

  • Hey, Glen Frey...I thought you wanted to call the band "Eagles", not "The Eagles."

  • Good to see some early video of the band with Bernie Leadon. Linda was great, though in a Festival Hall concert here in Brisbane in 1982, she swore on stage and forgot the words to Blue Bayou at one point. Her band then included Waddy Wachtel and were great and outplayed Linda..... thanks for putting this one up!

  • I wish I could go back to the 70's. Young, free, natural and didn't have to wear a bra! lol the music was great and you could go to a concert every weekend and they only cost around $10! Ahhh, memories!

  • @marycreeves

"Young, free, natural and didn't have to wear a bra"

You fill me with nostalgia. I recall the warm pleasure of being with a girl who had a firm figure that let her go braless and then the cuddles & intimacy on the way home .

  • @wunguru lol like my wife and those halter tops! or the bra-dresses that were popular a couple of years later. That's more than nostalgia!

  • So refreshing... Don Henley just plays drums.

  • Glenn Frey looks suspiciously like Michael Imperioli (Christopher Moltisani from Sopranos) in this intro.

  • Bernie Leadon rocks!!

  • This is really early Eagles. What happened to Bernie Leadon, the guitarist singing here with Linda? He seems to have disappeared when he left the Eagles.

  • @oleole52 Bernie started his own group and they used to open for Linda.

  • @222clocks And then what happened to him?

  • @oleole52 Not sure he's doing anything now. He hasn't been active in a few years. I'm sure he's still playing though...as he was very gifted.

  • This was the Eagles at their best.

  • @pindowskivich

This is when I liked then. Afterwards boring to me.

  • @marycreeves I agree.

  • I saw them in concert back at the *Day of the green* concert presented by Billy Grahmn.

Eagles and Rondstadt, good stuff. There was a 3rd act trying to think who. It was at an outdoor concert/

  • Could she get any better? And with the Eagles? Damn good video

  • Ye gads, I'd eat her lettuce.

  • Lets Get Her Into The Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame Yall...

  • @5dennisk I agree.... if only we had the power dude!

  • I LOVE Linda's growl! Great memories, even greater talent, oh, and the backup band aint bad either!

  • This gives me chills!

  • She was a cutie with a great voice.

  • Did anyone else forget their name watching her? In fact - her and Joan Jett - my two favorites from back then - a 100 years ago. Thanks, Linda. Love you.

  • Good question. Why isn't she in the Hall of Fame? Certainly one of the most influential female singers in popular music. And yes, just sooo cute. I remember when the poster with the cover shot for Hasten Down the Wind was on many a bedroom wall.

  • @texwales i had the same poster on my bedroom wall along with many others....how she isnt in hall of fame is beyond me

  • yea why? men in suits, good for nothing! she should have her own hall of fame!

  • Linda was the most sensual woman in these days!

  • Linda was the most sensual woman in these days!!

  • Great performance, video, and flashback! Thanks for posting it.

  • beautiful upper incisives ...

  • Absolutely the best female singer of the time. Incredibly powerful voice with no gimmicks. Pure power and talent. By the way - an awesome version of the song.

  • Best chick singer of all time....so talented and purty

  • ... she was so darn cute back then.

  • Whoa.

  • You had to be careful bringing that girl on stage - she could steal the show.

  • The music of our time still lives and is hot! Long live rock!!!

  • Linda was so hot back then

  • She really did the big fish with song....she performed it also in the Tennessee prison together with Johnny Cash......ed

    w w w eddy nu

  • I saw Linda out in Fort Leornard Wood Missouri in 1976 (* a studio Practice) . She was a perfectionist and I watched her and her band practice . I felt so blessed. I knew she loved performing for Veterans and I thought it was soo cool that she was using the Walkers facility there on post ! I never knew that she would be so big . Linda , you should be in the R&R Hall Of Fame Period !

  • She comes on the stage and starts singhing straight, with no preliminaries or pretensions. She rarely moves around, all the concentration is in the voice. That's why her hand flying up at 2:05 to emphasize "you can't buy my love with money" is so effective.

  • @mannixisle Watch Loretta Lynn in You Ain't Woman Enough, she does the same thing in a particular part of that song.

  • @mollymitch1 interesting! I'll have to look for that -

  • What the hell happened to this sweet, delightful girl/woman?

She went from everyman's dream to a fat, angry, nasty, vile cow getting ejected from a venue with a background soundtrack of booos

    Sad

  • @MrRUKidddingMe

Why on earth are you ranting about something that happened 7 years ago?

As for what happened to her, she got older just like all the rest of us. It's hard to look 22 when you're 65.

  • Glenn Frey is so cute and shy when he introduces her. "favorite girl singer," I love it. Linda Ronstadt was adorable and fun, too.

  • WOW! they just don't do it like this anymore? the 60 and 70's ROCKED the 80's were ok, but the shit out there now? hip hop......rap.....where are the rockers?

  • @gonzokick You are absolutely right. Heard a Jay-Z rap song abt his new baby. Pitiful. My 9 year old makes better songs than that.

  • GOOD LORD can this woman sing or what????

  • yeah well, keep in mind that guitar solo sounded pretty damned fresh in 1979 , I can personally attest! The fact the eagesl have been imitated so much since those days might seem corny to some, but Felder's solo WAS the eagle "sound" there at 1:22.....think of the burrito bros. meet the new riders of purple sage.....all the rage back in the '70's!!!! Fun times!

  • @ thats bernie leadon doing the solo.....not felder. felder is on pedal-steel

  • @oreokookie1000 That's Bernie Leadon on lead guitar.

  • Linda Ronstadt should've fronted these guys! Although I LOATHE the Eagles on the whole, they were at their best during this period.

  • Not my musical cup of tea, but the band's rocking and Linda's bringing it. Great talent.

  • she does not like the guitar solo too much - like me...:-)

  • The first 6 seconds is another reason why she should be in the Hall of Fame

  • Bernie and Randy!!!! The way it WAS, the way it was SO GOOD

  • At this day without Don Felder is not the eagles.....

  • hello? give me a freakin break, we got Linda singing, Bernie playing, Randy Meisner, Fingers Felder on the slide whats not to like?

  • Awesome rockin version, Bernie Leadon on guitar, so this is earlier versioni of the Eagles. Prefer the guitar solo to the original fiddle break.

  • Tell me again, why isn't she in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?

  • @violethill her tits are too small

  • @MisterIanPickering So is your penis......

  • @violethill Could they think she is not rock and roll? If that is the case let's petition to get Janis Joplin out of there!

  • @violethill Hell if I know...

One of the best voices ever in both country and rock and certainly the best interpreter of songs... she is one of those very gifted few that can take a song written by someone else and make it sound as if she wrote it herself...

  • @rudedanny Hey , if you really love Linda , you might want to check out Grace Potter(she has music out there , currently on Youtube)...or Karla Bonoff (this woman sang back-up for Linda and is a great song writer)....or even Maria Muldaur.

  • @fetishisticrose Thanks... I have in the past and I like especially Karla Bonoff. Linda's versions of her songs on 'Hasten Down The Wind' prompted me to check her out back then.

  • @rudedanny such agreat young talent, she could sing with best

  • @violethill It is a crime. But the reason is that most her songs are covers. Doesn't seem to matter to anyone that she totally owned almost every song she ever covered. She is the best rock singer ever IMHO. She is awesome in person. I've never seen a performer that projected so much energy.

  • @cunnidvd I agree with you.

  • @violethill wondering the same

  • @violethill If that's a retorical queston...very good! If you'd like a valid answer, let me know.

  • @222clocks I'm game. So in your opinion, why is she not in the Hall of Fame? She has an unparalleled body of work, was groundbreaking in many ways, and for whatever it's worth, was just insanely beautiful.

  • @texwales AGREE! Beautiful & an "unparalleled body of work". Biggest female artist of the 70's and early 80's! Plus numerous Grammy's! Linda & Asher had a bad relationship with Jann Wenner, and Jann is the final say at the HOF. The HOF should be called "Rolling Stone Magazine's R&R museum". It's lost all merit in my opinion. Jann has wheel'd and deal'd artist in at his discretion. Sir Paul McCartney made a deal to get himself in as a solo artist. he was upset that Lennon was in so he..

  • @texwales (cont.) made a deal with Jann to perform at ceremonies to get inducted. The DC5 were actually voted in a year earlier than they were inducted, but Jann want a hip-hop artist in so he bumped the DC5 back a year to induct Grand master Flash. Everyone knows of the many of great artist waiting at the gates while undeserving artist march right in. To Think that Paul Rodgers (BADCO & Free) have not been inducted and John Cougar has, is just absurd. If Bon Jovi gets in before Linda-

  • @texwales (cont.) gets in, I'm headed to Cleveland to burn that place to the ground! There's an endless list of artist that Wenner has shunned. Both by talen and by record sales. This year I must admit that I am indeed happy to see the Small Faces going in. In my book, there has never been a more soulful white singer than Steve Marriott!

  • @222clocks ......the r+r hof is nothing more than an over priced tourist trap, and hardly worth visiting....better to spend your time and money on real music events,albums,etc.....if wenner is involved you have to figure it is about as lame as can be....

  • @buckandotis without a doubt!

  • Linda Ronstadt , I am always amazed of her :)

  • sound pickup sounds like from the Mike Douglas Show

  • I hear they call Taylor Swift and Lady Antebellum country nowadays...give me a f*cking break.

  • bernie leadon is the balls!

  • One of my favorite "girls singers" too. Have been in love with Linda since the 60's.

  • What guy born in the 50s or 60s didn't have a crush on Linda Rhondstadt? Her powerful voice and introspective lyrics rope you in and keep you there. Have you heard "Love is a Rose"?

  • All my heroes all together. What a treat. All music. All so young and talented. This is what I grew up with. No electronic magic just pure jamming. As a musician I am overwhelmed. God I wish music could sound like this again! Thanks for the post.

  • @LONEJOE1 Your the musician! Make it sound like this!!

  • @LONEJOE1 The music I love will ALWAYS sound like this.

  • randy miesner came FROM poco as did later, timothy b schmidt.bernie leadon left for musical reasons and suggested joe walsh from his old flying burrito bros. days as his replacement.on a side note, the firing of don felder should be a sore point for any eagles fan, he and joe together..now that's majic!

  • @MsBuzzard01 Pretty sure Joe was NOT part of The Flying Burrito Bros.

  • Eagles would not exist if not for Linda they were her band and Jackson brown (produced Take it Easy)

  • She is so beautiful and talented!!!! Love Linda!!!

  • SHE WAS SO HOT LOOKIN THEN

  • bum notes in solo? Maybe too picky

  • Real singer !!! Real musicians !!! No computers!!!. No rhytm machines !!!

  • Wow what a great blast from the past, this lady is the reason the Eagles got together in the first place.Get a load of Bernie Leadon going off on lead(impressive)And Felder what talent

  • What ever happened to Randy Meisner and Bernie Leadon ?

  • @PostalFA they joined Devo! lol

  • @PostalFA Randy went to Poco and Bernie left to be replaced by Joe Walsh and Don Felder

  • @lobo1865 ...Let's get the duck's in a row

    ....I'm 74 ,156 lbs .10 pound's less than I weighed as aCanadian Para at 19 .

....We had so many coward's in the 60's come here . We don't need anymore of whatever .

  • How good is this . Simply the best . Man it has been a long long time .

  • Yeah Don Felder on steel !!

  • Hey Bernie, nice harmony, but that solo sucked.

  • why we talking about her weight? don't know what she is now but if you asked me if I would give her 1 out of 2 then............... I would give her one.

  • Needs more cow bell.

Just kidding this is great, fabulous. Linda and the Eagles! What more can you say?

  • Comment removed

  • @mollymitch1 the backing group?????? they're the freaking EAGLES.

  • Check out Don Felder on Steel.

  • KILLER. ♪ ♥ ♪

  • is he wearing a motorhead shirt?!

  • @dlite3113 Morehead

  • @MrRazorblade999 Which is what he wanted from Linda!

  • @BestMusicExpert LoL! Who wouldn't?

  • awesome video!

  • @wilmaohman To quote another chestnut, "Beauty is only skin deep... but ugly goes clear to the bone". Thankfully, I don't just limit myself to the UK. More - I love the talented *and* hot-looking women all over the world! Once well met, then I'll take the time to look deeper. God gave me a heart to feel with, and eyes to appreciate beauty. What I find attractive may not be what you like. To each his own. But this topic derails the true purpose of this video. And with that, Amen.

  • Informed104 - it's very frustrating for a woman to see males in the public eye, ex; tv anchors, journalists, musicians, and talk show hosts who have lost their looks but remain employed, when the only females in the media are young, plasticized women with incredibly standardized good looks. You'd think by now we would have moved past the surface and were able to focus on substance. Linda Ronstadt is fabulous regardless of her age or her weight. 300 extra pounds doesn't erase her talent.

  • @follepourchevaux oh my... Is that what she weighs now? I haven't seen her for a long time...but yes you are right.. doesn't erase her talent...thanks...guess I'll have to google that....

  • @follepourchevaux It is called the market place so dial 1-800-CRY-WAAA

  • @follepourchevaux is anything enought for women?they just find fault with anything.i'm not sure if it's USA or women in general.one other thought---what would diamonds be worth if women didn't love them?

  • @follepourchevaux your so fucked up your fucked up is fucked up.quit being a victum!

  • Ya know, Skyman46, I've just been looking at vids of current performances by Van Morrison - fat, jowly, not much hair - but no one says he's washed up because he isn't the young rock god he used to be. You think we women aren't visual too? Maybe we are just deeper than you guys because we like the talent first, and also appreciate it when it's wrapped in a nice package - but we'll take the talent if it's not.

  • @follepourchevaux Never said anything about Ronstadt's age. Plenty of women work hard to keep their weight down their whole lives. So do men. She could if she wanted to, even if its genetic. Speaking generally of men - men are first attracted to a woman because of her looks. They then look deeper. Beautiful women are attracted to men by how much security (money) they can offer - by how good a provider he'll be, they then look deeper. Facts o' life generally speaking.

  • I saw her live when the Eagles were her back up band, before the Eagles hit it big on their own. One of the best concerts I ever saw with probably the best collection of musicians ever for a live show.

  • I remember watching this on tv as a kid :) great stuff !!!

  • Nobody is better than Linda Ronstadt.

  • Wasn't her back up band "The Stone Ponies"?

  • @a376361b The Stone Ponies weren't a back up band. They were a hold her back band. She became a success despite them. I believe that Linda got the Eagles together to back her up for a couple of concerts. She chose well.

  • I really like her voice, but can't stand her politics. Use to love her, now I just like her.

  • @sweetpea3339 Funny, I used to just like her, but I think more of her because of her politics.

  • @sweetpea3339 Jeez, she's for the little guy. What's not to like? Please.

  • @ciarraibuzz what little guy?

  • @sweetpea3339 I agree,,,great singer...but a moron in politics

  • @sweetpea3339 It's about the music unless her songs carry a political message.

  • @sweetpea3339 :-) It's interesting that you say "love" / "like". It was just a few years ago I discovered the difference.... it's really easy to show love to a complete stranger or to a close acquaintance... It's MUCH more difficult to show "like" to those whom we "look down upon". "Love" isn't conditional.... "like" is.

  • @sweetpea3339

Same here. Can't stand her personally now. She ranks beside Barbara Streisand with me, which isn't a compliment.

  • @lobo81865 seems like good company to me, guess your politics suck...don't like this just get the hell out, and don't let the door hit your fat ass on the way//LOL

  • @mccurryburg

Ha ha. Usually the ones calling other people fat are that way themselves. I am 46, 5"10, weigh 155 lbs., and could probably bench press your libtard ass. So you SHOULD let the door hit your sorry ass all the way to Canada.

  • @mccurryburg

    Kiss ass you POS libtard.

    my bad...i got it backwards

  • i grew up always hearing how much my mother looked like linda ronstadt! and how she sounded so much like her as well! mom's got the big brown eyes and dark brown hair and thankfully passed those features on to me! they say girls are often attracted to men who remind them of their fathers i think that applys to men as well. someday, if i ever do get married, i want a girl that's just like mom and linda! i love the way she looks here! so sweet and darling! my beautiful desert rose! simply the best

  • @Likeadiamondsnake That's amazing, so much love, and also so much information

  • That smile she finnishes off most songs with is better than the songs.
