  • Tuning is A D G C? What EXACT strings do you use?

  • @fearcross

    I think I'm tuned – D♭, G♭, D♭, E

    My strings are d'addario piccolo

  • Zero dislikes. Just the way it should be.

  • Dude how did you learn to use harmonics like that? I want to include that in my playing :D

  • @IndianMetalhead

i think i just experimented on my bass and watched/listened to other solo bassists. check out my tabs book for detailed information on this sort of style. : )

  • Bass with no head. Cat with no tail. However, the music is full!! ;)

  • @ssancak

    Ha ha ha! : )

  • 2:52 and then Zander beat the crap out of the cat because it didn't applaud... Poor kitty :(

  • I'm not sure if there is a better solo bassist in the world.

  • @ 2:23 even the cat looks amazed!

  • you are an awesome artist. great sound. great job, all is great. congratulations

  • Love the use of harmonics, very underused on bass imo. Keep up the awesome work! =D

  • 2:08 a wild meowth appears! but is instantly defeated by Melodic bassline 9999 damage

  • @blazeken1

    ha ha!

  • y r u not on the tv or have a consert

  • Comment removed

  • do you use a stomp box? if yes .. which one?

  • @themaschi

nope. i have a cool fx unit though - the boss gt10.

  • @Zander4724 you create this music

  • lol at about 2:27 - 2:30 it looked like your cat was going to get you to play Cat Scratch Fever, but then decided to lick its tail lol.

  • this is sweet dude, also your cat is awesome.

  • yknow if you think about it, in this song you could almost have a guitar play the lead parts and bass the back, and add drums. (dont hate!!!!!!! i play bass and its just a little idea)

  • let me start off by saying that your music is pretty awesome, is there no way anyone could convince you to tab out some of your work? or maybe how-tos for some of your songs? I'm somewhat of a self-taught bassist trying to learn some new styles, and would really love to learn how to play like you do.

  • @imbored741

thanks a lot! i resolute is tabbed out. you can get it from bassline publishing along with many other awesome tabbed out tunes and instructions on techniques. the book is called 'solo arrangements for electric bass'.

  • @Zander4724 I wanted to order the book 'solo arrangements for electric bass' but the website said:

"Due to copyright restrictions, this book is only available to customers in the UK and Europe. Orders from other countries will not be shipped and payments will be refunded."...

  • CAT LOVES THE BASS TOO!

  • Wow that was awesome, but I couldn't stop laughing when the cat came in and looked at you in a "I am intrigued by this human's activity" kind of way.

  • may i ask, at 1:33, how do moving the instrument affect the frequency of the harmonic in there?, it´s something related to doppler effect?

  • @PtolemaiosLS He just bends the neck, it moves out of tune the harmonics a bit, i don't know anything about doppler effect, I'm not a physicist...

  • @jaqetall

i don´t think he´s is "bending" the neck, he is just moving the instrument, you can´t use the neck as a whammy bar :S, doppler effect it´s very easy to understand (see wikipedia), my theory: moving the instrument alter the vibrations who are traveling trough the wood, and the waves get closer or farer, so the frequency get a variation :D, what do you think zander?

  • @PtolemaiosLS Yeah I know you can't use the neck as a whammy bar, I play bass myself, I think he slightly bends the neck, it's simple, it can be done and without too much effort. My humble opinion.

  • @jaqetall There's no reason you can't, you can dive bomb by bending the neck, with a little finesse there's nothing you can do with a whammy that you can do without

  • @jaqetall There's no reason you can't, you can dive bomb by bending the neck, with a little finesse there's nothing you can do with a whammy that you can do without. Not my humble opinion, once watched a vid of a famous guitar player (don't remember who) and he demonstrated how he pulls off all the same tricks when he plays a guitar without a floyd rose.

Not my humble opinion, once watched a vid of a famous guitar player (don't remember who) and he demonstrated how he pulls off all the same tricks when he plays a guitar without a floyd rose. and you're right, it doesn't take much pressure too do it, even on a bass.

  • @jaqetall SO beautifully done though :)

  • @PtolemaiosLS

hi, guys. i believe by slightly bending the neck, the pitches of the harmonics alter slightly before returning to their original pitch... i'm not entirely sure though to be honest!

  • this song is so epic!!!

  • your cat is hungry man! LOL

  • I'm amazed by everything you play!!

  • yeah!!!!is very beautiful!!!!

  • Hi, I love this song, it's amanzing! could you tell me what is the tuning of this song? i would like to play it, but i not sure if this is the normal tuning. thanks ;D

  • @alexdoernberg2

  • @Zander4724 does it put bad stresses on a full size bass?

  • I LOVE that trick at 1:35! =)

  • You are just incredible, unbeliveble.

    Thanks!

  • This sound ... Just perfect ...

  • hmm only 4 strings : o how the hell do u get this sound? ure amazing plz tell me ure using thiner strings or something?

  • I've looked after zon vb4 guitars' prices, and it's 2050 USD (as I saw)-- UHH . I'm not surprised I can't play songs with my Baltimore training guitar (19000 HUF - maybe 120 USD) like this. XD

  • Good stuff, Zander. What tuning did you use?

  • @BenZeneProject

    thanks. Tribal Chant D♭, G♭, D♭, E

  • @BenZeneProject

oh, sorry, i just realised that that's the tuning on the album. i think i might be tuned half a step lower on each string for this performance.

  • What are your influences man? you're rlly one of a kind.. ur so gr8 at playing bass!

And may i ask what kind of bass you use and do u have picolo strings on it? :P

  • @toefes

    thanks!

my main influences are michael manring and victor wooten. i play a zon vb4 bass with d'addario piccolo strings.

  • Quelle technique......Bravo.

  • this is my favorite piece

  • Oh wow, what a pleasant surprise to find this new video of yours :-) ...

The song: Stunning! Your playing: Awesome! Your cat entering the picture and taking over the scene: Priceless xD!

thanks a lot! lol - my cat is crazy!

  • @Zander4724

... crazy as in "crazy for awesome music" :-)!

Thanks for making my afternoon man.

  • Man, that was insane. I really love it! The stuff you right is just amazing, and really unique. I think it is time to buy a CD now. :D

Oh also, awesome cat. <3 Cats :)

  • @Geddyleefan30

thanks! i hope you like my album! and glad you like my cat ; )

  • YES! YES YES!!!!! Haha, for once in my life my prayers have come true! YES!

I've always wanted to see the technique for this one. So much musicianship as usual. When I talk to people at work about 'real music' which they know nothing about, this is what comes to my head.

Lately I've been finding it hard to pick up my piccolo and actually try to write a song, I keep finding myself with my standard 4 string bass in hand, because I love improvising, but this just gave me the motivation I need.

  • @Cornbreadddd

    go for it, mate! compose!

  • lol very good, lol @ random cat xD

  • awesome

  • o.0???

  • Wow, each of your songs are impressively. They sounds awesome :O

I hope I can play sick stuff like that in 5 or 10 years too. :D

    Rock On

  • Best piece you've put out in a long while. Absolutely loving the feel.

  • As usual, an excellent piece. Haha, I like the your cat, by the way. :)

  • great!!!

  • great job!!

  • Love this piece. Thanks so much for sharing :-)

    All the best,

    Jim
