Lincoln never freed a single slave. The Emancipation Proclamation freed no slave in Union territory or Union held territory at that time. It was a war measure. (This is not to say that the outcome in the terms of the private ownership of slaves was not good, just the methods.) It can be said in more truth that his actions while ending up freeing the slaves owned by man, made man the slave of the government.

No, Lincoln may have been one of the worst presidents. He supported a constitutional amendment explicitly and permanently condoning slavery in order to "preserve the union". He was willing to kill hundreds of thousands to preserve the tariffs, and only issued the emancipation proclamation when it looked like Britain was going to enter the war on the side of the Confederacy. Obama will probably succeed in a lincolnian presidency, and that is terrible.
