Yeah, the sliding thing was her favorite game for a long time. Now she prefers climbing into the pots and pans cupboard and shoving stuff out onto the floor. The more noise, the better. When a pot clatters onto the floor, she flings her crests up and squawks. Crazy bird.
@qwb224 I love this video it never fails to make me laugh. She is so adorable and I could almost hear her saying"Oh Daddy I like that let's do it again" Very special and cool bird.
I have read a lot of negative comments on here and it seems these people really do need to stop trolling...if the bird didn't like it his hand or his face would have meen minced by now.
THANK YOU! You are exactly right and anyone who knows birds well would know all that. This is her second favorite game next to tearing up paper towels and throwing them on the floor. She's a hoot.
This is ADORABLE! XD Disregard the negative comments; most people aren't very observant or just don't know much about birds. The cockatoo was playfully matching the guy's movements, and if the bird didn't enjoy the sliding, he/she would have been scratching his/her feet all over trying to run away and flapping his/her wings to fly away. The bird obviously LOVES it lol. Very cute. :D
at first, I thought this might be cruel, but look more closely. When the bird isn't sliding, she nuzzles up closely to the man. Her actions are very affectionate, she's not conveying anger or fear in the least.
i know u mean well and i dont know how much u know about birds , i was just worried when i saw the video.. u seem very careful.. im just worried a blood feather can be pulled or snaped.. just concerned... very handsome bird u have also..
@ConureGirl81 Yeah, blood feathers are the only thing you have to be worried about. But if you examine his movements, they are gentle and fluid and he is gripping all of the tail feathers to prevent pulling them out (pressure or tension has more force when concentrated into a small point; physics).
Hon, having been in Australia most of my life and living where they are wild right outside my bedroom window, I can say cockatoos are loud and they can make a crap load of noise. Sometimes they are vicious little creatures too. But they are lovable and charismatic - mostly - but noisy.
No, she's totally right - they DO make a lot of noise. Way more than our Amazon. When she screams, it makes your brain vibrate in your skull. It's awful.
I love birds so much. Most people tend to think of them as furniture with feathers but they have so much personality. Look at the way your bird runs to be next to you and nuzzle you with his beak!
i'd normally hate people who pull a bird by the tail, but it doesn't look like it seems to mind and you're pulling in a spot way wouldn't be too painful (i.e. at the base of the feathers, not the tips... test it on your own hair, it'll be more painful pulled from the tips than at the scalp) looks like he's enjoying himself, i want one!
hi do you ever get randomly bit by your cockatoo, i have one and i pick her up (she is willing to get picked up) and then all the sudden she lunges for my chest.
please respond Im so confused about mine that i just dont know anymore. when were on the couch she will play and put her head next to my leg like that for a pet, then all the sudden lunge and my arm. do you have to same problem? i just want to know if they are all like that or if it is something else
@sbrucks7 - maybe try a bird owners forum for advice (a good one is 'upatsix'). I'm currently owned by a Sun Conure who occasionally takes a dislike to my ankles. He will become extra snuggly, then, for no reason that I can figure he will stealthily stalk down to my knees, come back up for a scratch and a snuggle (I'm guessing to keep me off-side), then he will mount a full scale attack on my ankles. Buggered if I know why, it's completely random.
We got her when she was only 3 mos old and I suppose it's something we did right from the start, when she'd try to run off after eating or something. Anyway, she totally loves it.
I can't understand why, some parrots like mine, detest having their tails touched, while others, like yours, totally enjoy it!! How did you figure out he/she liked it?
that was just silly
