According to Van Williams,the Hornet Gas Gun never did work properly when he used it. First,showing the gas spewing forth from the gun couldn't be seen in the low key lighting that the show used to pass for nighttime.To make the gun work Van wore a bottle & hose contraption that ran up the sleeve of his coat & into the prop gas gun.Secondly,if he did not hold the gas gun right ,the green face powder used to appear as gas would pour out & totally cover the victim.
Thank you for posting these scenes with one of the niftiest weapons ever made for a TV series.It was especially cool to see the scene from "Hornet Save Thyself" where the Green Hornet uses his gas gun on the police in the precinct station.On the reruns of the show this scene has been edited out.
