Every time I hear this song I have to fight the tears. I have people in my family in the Marines so I know first hand plus Everlast puts it so perfectly, he gets to the point, and it's a beautiful song. But on the other hand he says it in the song he hopes the government is doing the right thing and frankly that's debatable.

Thanks for putting this together. Thanks to my son, young son and David Letterman, I discovered "Whitey Ford Sings the Blues" and I've been hooked ever since. I've been out of the US Army since 87 but my thoughts and prayers are with the men and women that serve and their families. When I joined, women were in communication and few other MOS's but now they fly choppers and everthing inbetween. Stay strong at home and in the field.

@luckmanprod I think it may be because some people don't agree with WHY these troops are dying and having their lives and families torn apart. I support the troops all day. Every time I hear this song I have to fight the tears. I have people in my family in the Marines so I know first hand plus Everlast puts it so perfectly, he gets to the point, and it's a beautiful song. But on the other hand he says it in the song he hopes the government is doing the right thing and frankly that's debatable.

This is a powerful song which seems to capture the emotional conflicts that lead to PTSD which is wreaking havoc on our brave men and women. I had never heard it before. Of course, we keep them and their brave families in our thoughts and prayers. Thank you for posting this.
