  • This world is gone forever.

    Fuck Ron Paul.

  • God bless The Mats - ya gotta love a band that INSISTED on making the world's first ANTI-VIDEO!

    Bob Stinson - R.I.P.

  • the movie "adventureland" bought me here !!

  • Go to this channel to check out my NEW song called "ISLAND". I know what ur thinking, and you probably think its going to suck, BUT it's actually pretty catchy. So check it out n let me know what you think.

  • I fuckin love this song!!!!!

  • I can't explain why, but this video is awesome.

  • I really hate that I had to watch 5 seconds of a Ron Paul ad before watching this video...

  • @bgeez112 What's wrong with Ron Paul?

  • i am gunna be famous just so i can make a video like this and do what Eddie Vedder did when he got an award: "i dont know what this means" and walk off.

  • I prefer Jesse Malin's version but I do like it.

  • i just discovered this band, this guy's voice is beautiful

  • Its a little faster than the original :p

  • i dont have idea what it make me feel this song but is so especial that i have to hear it over and over again

  • You know that's probably Tommy's apartment above Oarfolkjokeapuss! I bet they blew the cash for the video at the CC Club!! Minneapolis local music forever!

  • The anti-video from the peak of MTV's rapidly dwindling powers.

  • SO badass.

  • The video... So simple, so easy to make, yet so fantastic, and way more awesome than any fucking nude-dancing-chick video that cost millions to make.

  • a great video need to be expensive...MJ knows the best.

  • why dont we change this to the national anthem?

  • I have to watch an ad for some shitty video game before I hear this classic tune? Fuck youtube

  • @WarGoatForestWolf666 Maybe you should ask for your money back

  • How I wish this song could be played on the radio and the video played regularly on TV. No, it speaks too much truth and actually makes people stop and think for a second. It doesn't talk about a hot chick, sex, or getting laid. It's sad that there ain't music like this around.

Also, this song was on an episode of House at the very beginning. There was some photo shoot going on, I think...

  • the ones love us best are the ones we'll lay to rest

visit their graves on holidays at best

the ones love us least are the ones we'll die to please...

if it's any consolation i don't begin to understand...

finest best ever. hallelujah Husker Du and the Replacements. grateful.

  • naruto song!!!!!

  • let's get this straight, I am a bastard of young

  • The longer I live, the more I discover the truth this song conveys..

  • best anti-video ever

  • this is making its way to one of my favorite songs

  • Seemed like a weird ad for a Replacements vid.

  • great song, great band. hey neverender, that's a great story! thanks for making the world a little better.

  • Did anybody else have to sit through a Shawn Desman advertisement to listen to a Replacements song? Dirt.

  • Adventureland brought me here

  • "The ones that love us best are the ones we'll lay to rest/And visit their graves on holidays at best/The ones who love us least are the ones we'll die to please." And as simple as it is, it still works in lots of subtle details.

  • awesome

  • this is what i grew up on when i was like 10 haha this tripping daisy and faster pussy cat thank god i had cool parents to show me what good music was haha

  • it seems like the song is playing at about 46 RPM or something, it's faster than the album version and the pitch is higher. i can only assume this was intentional.

  • I love this song !

  • i came here because of Adventureland :)

  • This song still gives me the chills.

  • I like the old punk stuff :)

  • I came where because of Billie joe Armstrong.

  • I don't really like the song a lot. But I agree with all of you. This has always been a genius music video ! Peace..... Desmond Son

  • The 'Mats are great!

  • ótimo. Great

  • The best video ever.

  • i dont like this my mom does lol

  • @thefatkidism It's a shame your mother was not able to transmit her superior musical taste to you.

  • i cant imagine any band in todays age having the balls to do a video like this

  • @andybrad84 dude, check this myspace.com/video/against-me/against-me-quot-new-wave-quot/39765028

  • @andybrad84 You're right, cause there isn't. Music is shit today. No balls, no soul.

  • @rakuencallisto Except Rise Against.

  • @rakuencallisto Not all of it. St. Vincent, Kaputt, the Weeknd, the black angels, Norah Jones.

  • @andybrad84 This is the first time I saw this video and I read your comment, I started to be really exited about the coming video. In the meantime I thought to myself 'would there be a music video out there in wich pretty much nothing happens? Naah nobody would dare to do such thing.'. I actually found the answer to my question while watching this, and I felt a strange mix of feelings about my excitement towards this vid. Thank you for giving this the dimention it had for me.

  • @andybrad84 have you seen the two videos for r.e.m.'s new song we all go back to where we belong?

  • @andybrad84 Gorillaz's video for Spitting Out The Demons is just a silhouette of a windmill against a red background the whole way through. Not quite the same but just as simplistic, if not even more.

  • @andybrad84 The don not have this courage 'cause the soud is garbage!!

  • billie joe's favorite band :):)

  • People fail to realise this but, huge modern bands for example Green Day actually found their Inspiration from The Replacements :D

  • @Sannyboy45 If it wasn't for GD, I wouldn't have found this great band!

  • @Sannyboy45 Yeah I know! I love green day and the replacements to death!

  • @Sannyboy45 Look at green day now, boring posers. At least Most punk bands aren't kiss ups

  • great song. i must admit i prefer the against me version. more angstful and the chorus is much more driving, though theyre version wouldn't even exist without this great band writing it in the first place

  • astroboirap was born at least 15 years too late to Get It.

    Mats still rule!

  • @astroboirap The point of the music video is for you to focuse on the song. Music videos are becoming more and more of a tool to justify the declining genre of music. While many bands suck ass today, I will hand it to them that they can make a fucking music video. Bands like the 'Mats didn't believe in validifying their music with a visual companion. Either you liked their music or you didn't, and some music video shouldn't change your opinion of the quality of a song.

  • My best friend, I love her to death, but all she listens to is shit like Ke$ha and bullshit pop. One day, I went to pick her up to go for something to eat, and I had The Replacements (the Tim album to be exact) on the way there and back, and when she went to get out of the car, she said, "By the way, can I borrow this album from you? I really like it." Behold the magic of The Replacements. Never felt so happy in my life.

  • @neverender888

Wow! That's got to be the first (and probably last) time Ke$ha and The 'Mats will ever be mentioned in the same paragraph. Hopefully, Paul's nicotine stained rasp will win himself a new fan in 2011.

  • @treatmentbound Well unless Ke$ha starts claiming to love the Replacements (like she does with heavy metal, apparently...) then I hope it will be the last time I risk associating the Mats with crappy "artists."

  • @neverender888 Pro Status, that's what you are

  • @neverender888 in so many words, it's all too common nowadays.....real music still lives but its a dying breed, be happy we have this to ourselves. On the otherhand glad your friend took interest, it's sounds like a new world has opened up....!

  • @kjs2tds Because it's one of the only music videos that makes sense!

  • The ones who love us least are the ones we'll die to please. Punk rock? Sock puppets? Watch the video on my channel.

  • This was the expensive video to make. There's actual movement. Beautiful.

  • They don't show much in this this video including the guy in the apartment next door screaming at the guy to turn the music down!

  • The reason - I'm guessing - that this vid has messed up pitch is because the audio is coming from an actual LP. Note the fact that it rolls on to the next song on the album 'Tim' at the end and that aint no audiophile turntable - just the sort of thing a Mats fan would wear out their records on! Those moaning have probably never used one or ever enjoyed real music!! Note also that this is a Sire records vid - for them to post it says that as much as it was a *&%$ you to the "man" they get it.

  • i wasn´t expecting that

  • Im 17 and i love THE REPLACEMENTS \m/ (O_O) \m/

  • K-MART...YOUR "ADVERTISEMENTS" WILL ONLY DISCOURAGE MY PATRONAGE WITH YOUR CORPORATION. SHOVE IT.

  • Looks like almost everyone I knew at the time's record player set up. Milk Cartons as tables . Milk cartons as tables. Awesome.

  • The greatest anti-music video music video ever.

  • anybody else notice that it sounds like they played a 33 record at 45rpm for this video. check out the album version and then play next to this. I don't know if that was intentional or what. if anyone can shed some light on that that would be great

  • The greatest rock and roll video now and ever...!

  • this was released in 1985 and this is the music video they used on mtv but also the video symbolises that you dont need to watch retards running around drinking and tossing tables or even that you need videos for music at all! this was banned from mtv shortly after.....

  • This has to be the cheapest music video ever. XD

  • you are not this cool

  • everyone should the cover of this by the cribs, really raw

  • what a great fucking video. Nothing happens, yet everything happens! This is punk!

  • If you like The Replacements, check out The Regulars!!!

    \

  • @cymaticmandala, this post makes me teary. I'm raising my son on the Replacements, too, as they've been a fave of mine since I was 12. Good for you!

  • 15 cunts...............

  • yes.

  • I saw these guys at an all-ages show when Tommy Stinson (bass player) was 14. It remains one of the seminal shows I've ever been to. The 'Mats were the epitome of the 'we don't give a fuck, love us or hate us but we're playing our asses off' bands. Unfortunately, when an 'underground/punk/alterative, whatever you want to call it' gets attention from a major label - and it's happened to many bands - they implode with the success.

  • Once upon a time, this all made sense.

  • 15 people listen to Justin Bieber and Chris Brown!

Fucking love this track till I die!!!

  • youtube.com/watch?v=iLElq1cIfK0&feature=related

  • classic one!

  • Ha i did the same thing to da radio when i heard lil wayne on

  • @Kideiht oh yeah, youre soooooooooooooo cool

  • @HarryGrin95 not triying to be cool here just saying music like this should be more appreciated than now in day crap

  • @Kideiht never diss other genres

  • @HarryGrin95 i could give a fuck what u think u aint gonna change da way i think

  • @Kideiht i know, its a shame

  • @HarryGrin95 sorry to say you dumbfuck, but ummm music these days has lost its lustre, anything after the turn of the century sucks,

  • @HarryGrin95 y the fuck r u even bothering the way others think who gives a shit if others want to think someway its their choice its not ur life worry bout urself dumbass

  • @HarryGrin95 y da fuck should u care bout what i hear n care bout worry bout ur own shit

  • If you don't like this video I'm not sure what to tell you. To each there own, but I'm pretty sure you just don't get the point these guys were trying to make.

    Long live Midwest punk/pop!

  • @agabbahey ....enlighten us, then. What point were they trying to make?

  • @Ciesliktron3030 They were pissed off b/c their Record Label insisted they make a video They really had no desire to make video at this point and decided to go with something so minimalist that they knew it would piss off the label and get virtually no air play on MTV. The video is a giant middle finger to the music industry of that day.

  • Do you think we beat the corporations? No, my friends we did not but they can not crush your thoughts and your soul. There is no credit reports on innovation.

  • what a stupid video to such a great song, -sheesh!

  • The video says: I Hate Mtv, Vh1, Much Music and top of the pop... fuck you! I'll hear music on the speaker and smoke a cigarette, Fuck you television!

  • kick that fucking speaker

  • This is sped up, Pauls voice sounds like a little kids!

  • best music video ever

  • My word seeing Jenson Button "acting" before the ultimate rebellion song.... STICK IT TO THE MAN!

  • Transcendent song, brilliant album.

  • My dad called them " Dip Shit Mode".

  • nice woofers

  • Best video ever made.

All other expensive, pompous crap falls way behind.

  • whenever i here the first chord.... i know that i was alive then! thanks paul, gary, tommy, chris, and slim...this song was....is ...our anthem.

  • So punk! So bad ass! So clever! I remember the first time I saw this on MTV. Such a fuck you to the man!

  • Best Days.

  • First time I saw this in 1985 I thought, "This is the greatest music video ever made." Over 25 years later, I still think that.

  • yes ... this band was gay ... and they rocked

  • Comment removed

  • yes, music videos without stupid lip synching. 'ments rule

  • Someone wrote it predated MTV---The video (and song) came out in 1985 and MTV started in 1981. I remember the song played on MTV pretty often,

MTV was criticized by some in the 80's---but truth is they played a lot of great stuff then. REM, Cure, Replacements, and Husker Du were played on MTV. I even saw an occasional Ramones and Black Flag video now and then.

  • before i could see this video i had to watch a k-mart commercial

    thats just not right

  • We are the sons of no one...they got no war to name us. Paul Westerburg rox the planet.

  • If you voted dislike for this video, then I guess you don't get it because you are too preoccupied with Nickelback, Britney or whatever your schlock might be. Go back to watching The Hills and 16 and Pregnant, MTV loves you!

  • Brings tears to my eyes ... lost childhood.

  • I hate that I was born eight years too late after this album came out.

  • @MrBrianlowdown - this album came out in 1985, MTV went on the air in 1981.

  • @MrBrianlowdown The fact that Tim was released in 1985 and MTV came out in 1981, make your post not only hilariously pretentious and longwinded but wrong too. Seriously, guy. Let the Mat's do the talking.

  • that was pretty cool haha

  • 14 haters are getting there speakers kicked in.

  • Anybody got the Beavis & Butthead commentary of this one? It's a classic.

  • @bucky468 I was just going through my Beavis and Butthead tapes yesterday and found the episode with this video.

  • RIP Bobby

  • fuze commercial

  • does anyone know how to play drums for this song?

  • @tyco337 Yeah, his name is Chris Mars.

  • @tyco337 Seriously?

  • fuck you're gay ad

  • @100cjkennedy Fuck YOUR failed sentence and homophobia

  • would you please make the video embeddable? thanks.

  • @marchpig - Lame troll is lame.

  • The best video MTV never played....

    Take it, it's yours.

    R.I.P. Mr. Stinson.

  • The greatest band of all time.

    Bar nothing.

  • Comment removed

  • Bob we miss you. Paul, you're still the greatest.

  • I usually don't care about the ads too much, but having it right before this video/band is kind of disappointing.

  • Good night Adventureland!!!

  • Holy shit! there's a cigarette in this rock video! When did that start?

  • Nothing gives me more pleasure in being a man than The Replacements.

  • the turntable sounds like it may be a bit fast

  • fukkin minnesota baby..

  • @evol1349 Minnesotans are amazing... I would know. I am one.

  • very good...

  • My favourite video :)

  • The fact that I had to watch a commercial with Larry the cable guy before seeing this just makes me sad.

  • @limestoneroad i don't understand

  • @limestoneroad now its a fucking phone commercial.

  • @limestoneroad Lucky you, I have to see a commercial starring Nick Jonas before this video!!! : (
