Go to this channel to check out my NEW song called "ISLAND". I know what ur thinking, and you probably think its going to suck, BUT it's actually pretty catchy. So check it out n let me know what you think.
i am gunna be famous just so i can make a video like this and do what Eddie Vedder did when he got an award: "i dont know what this means" and walk off.
You know that's probably Tommy's apartment above Oarfolkjokeapuss! I bet they blew the cash for the video at the CC Club!! Minneapolis local music forever!
Yeah, these were an amazing band, and there were many great, brilliant, innovative and exciting bands in the recent decades. However, anyone here seriously making a claim that music today is crap is an ignorant toolbag too lazy to look anywhere but the charts. There are tons of equally brilliant, equally innovative artists around today, all you have to do is search for them. And remember, they are nothing without you, so when you find them, do all you can. Spread the music, or it will die.
How I wish this song could be played on the radio and the video played regularly on TV. No, it speaks too much truth and actually makes people stop and think for a second. It doesn't talk about a hot chick, sex, or getting laid. It's sad that there ain't music like this around.
Also, this song was on an episode of House at the very beginning. There was some photo shoot going on, I think...
Original pop rock band from portland oregon here! Just shot out new vid of one of our softer songs, thought you replacement fans might like it :) Come to our page, and check it out, it's called 'Takes two'. (Think of how indie you'll be, knowing us before anyone else does :P)
"The ones that love us best are the ones we'll lay to rest/And visit their graves on holidays at best/The ones who love us least are the ones we'll die to please." And as simple as it is, it still works in lots of subtle details.
this is what i grew up on when i was like 10 haha this tripping daisy and faster pussy cat thank god i had cool parents to show me what good music was haha
it seems like the song is playing at about 46 RPM or something, it's faster than the album version and the pitch is higher. i can only assume this was intentional.
@andybrad84 This is the first time I saw this video and I read your comment, I started to be really exited about the coming video. In the meantime I thought to myself 'would there be a music video out there in wich pretty much nothing happens? Naah nobody would dare to do such thing.'. I actually found the answer to my question while watching this, and I felt a strange mix of feelings about my excitement towards this vid. Thank you for giving this the dimention it had for me.
@andybrad84 Gorillaz's video for Spitting Out The Demons is just a silhouette of a windmill against a red background the whole way through. Not quite the same but just as simplistic, if not even more.
great song. i must admit i prefer the against me version. more angstful and the chorus is much more driving, though theyre version wouldn't even exist without this great band writing it in the first place
@astroboirap The point of the music video is for you to focuse on the song. Music videos are becoming more and more of a tool to justify the declining genre of music. While many bands suck ass today, I will hand it to them that they can make a fucking music video. Bands like the 'Mats didn't believe in validifying their music with a visual companion. Either you liked their music or you didn't, and some music video shouldn't change your opinion of the quality of a song.
@astroboirap The point of the music video is for you to focuse on the song. Music videos are becoming more and more of a tool to justify the declining genre of music. My best friend, I love her to death, but all she listens to is shit like Ke$ha and bullshit pop. One day, I went to pick her up to go for something to eat, and I had The Replacements (the Tim album to be exact) on the way there and back, and when she went to get out of the car, she said, "By the way, can I borrow this album from you? I really like it." Behold the magic of The Replacements. Never felt so happy in my life.
Wow! That's got to be the first (and probably last) time Ke$ha and The 'Mats will ever be mentioned in the same paragraph. Hopefully, Paul's nicotine stained rasp will win himself a new fan in 2011.
@treatmentbound Well unless Ke$ha starts claiming to love the Replacements (like she does with heavy metal, apparently...) then I hope it will be the last time I risk associating the Mats with crappy "artists."
@neverender888 in so many words, it's all too common nowadays.....real music still lives but its a dying breed, be happy we have this to ourselves. On the otherhand glad your friend took interest, it's sounds like a new world has opened up....!
The reason - I'm guessing - that this vid has messed up pitch is because the audio is coming from an actual LP. Note the fact that it rolls on to the next song on the album 'Tim' at the end and that aint no audiophile turntable - just the sort of thing a Mats fan would wear out their records on! Those moaning have probably never used one or ever enjoyed real music!! Note also that this is a Sire records vid - for them to post it says that as much as it was a *&%$ you to the "man" they get it.
anybody else notice that it sounds like they played a 33 record at 45rpm for this video. check out the album version and then play next to this. I don't know if that was intentional or what. if anyone can shed some light on that that would be great
this was released in 1985 and this is the music video they used on mtv but also the video symbolises that you dont need to watch retards running around drinking and tossing tables or even that you need videos for music at all! this was banned from mtv shortly after.....
I saw these guys at an all-ages show when Tommy Stinson (bass player) was 14. It remains one of the seminal shows I've ever been to. The 'Mats were the epitome of the 'we don't give a fuck, love us or hate us but we're playing our asses off' bands. Unfortunately, when an 'underground/punk/alterative, whatever you want to call it' gets attention from a major label - and it's happened to many bands - they implode with the success.
@HarryGrin95 y the fuck r u even bothering the way others think who gives a shit if others want to think someway its their choice its not ur life worry bout urself dumbass

The video is a giant middle finger to the music industry of that day.
Do you think we beat the corporations? No, my friends we did not but they can not crush your thoughts and your soul. There is no credit reports on innovation.
The video says: I Hate Mtv, Vh1, Much Music and top of the pop... fuck you! I'll hear music on the speaker and smoke a cigarette, Fuck you television!
