JAMES b. WILLINGHAM WHO SANG WITH THE PASTELS DIED ON 10=25-2011 AT AGE 77. HE WAS THE BASS SINGER.,. I know this because he was a great friend of mine. there is still one more member left I think his name is John. I attended James funeral on 11-3-2011..There was no mention of him singing, look up the Pastels bio u can read . I love this song also.
I definitely can. I was 8 at the time. The haunting quality of the background vocals is as intensely beautiful right now as it was then. The final guitar chord at the end of the song has made an indelible impression on me. I don't have this record in particular but I have records as old or ever older than this one. It was a whole different time and actually being there, even though I was just a kid, was quite a trip when compared to our present day...
One of my favorite groups from my childhood....this is a beautiful song....nothing like it today...

I like the Pastels. They knew how to sing this sentimental stuff.

Nice, too bad they don't make music like this any more.

The Crackling Sound before the music starts on a vinyl, means that it's gonna be a GOOD 1 ! ! !

A good song, really far back... to 1958 I believe. Age just does not change things that are really GOOD!

One of the very best songs ever. btw, their other cut So Far Away was nice too.
Is the male lead singer Big Dee Irwin? I think so. ioxxd90...this is a pleasure.

The cracking sound on the record bring back great memories when we had Doo-Wop, the greatest sounding music to one's ear.
