Roseanne and Tom Arnold were "fashionably Jewish" back in the 90s when celebrities like Madonna became Jews because they have nothing better to do with their time. Jesco had a swastika tattoo on the back of his left hand and when Tom Arnold saw it he went ballistic. They made him get rose tattoos on his hand to cover it but then cut his part anyway. The only reason they left the part at the end is because they built up the joke with him for such a good part of the episode.

If the man did have those sort of tattoos and he came in bearing them openly, it was completely unprofessional and would sent a wrong message and so I can understand why his part was cut out. I'm surprised by all the anti-religious comments. I think it was nice that D.J. could come to his parents and ask questions. This was the first episode where the show touched on religion. I think the point of this episode was a child putting pressure on his parent's religious beliefs. The Conners weren't overtly religious people, but they believed in God. D.J. was pushing on that. I think the episode did a good job of conveying a child finding contradictions in his parent's as adults behavior.
