First of all you could easily call this techno (has the classic 303 Acid Bass going on and a monotonous structure) Second of all Electronica is a catch all term for DnB, techno, trance, dubstep, jungle, and everything electronic. So in your sentence you are basically disagreeing with yourself.

This.... I don't know how to describe it... It certainly sounds techno, and Metroid, but it just isn't working together... I think it's the improvisation and you fluxuate with the speeds. It also doesn't help that your percussion is more for the 4/4 variety, whereas this song is in 3/4. Take a look at my remix and you'll see my style! :D

@StarTropicsKing I purposely kind of re-made the melody to fit 4/4 time (The original is actually in 6/8). As for the speeds I don't know what you're referring to.

@Alexand3rS Well, the synth sounds like a preset in Sytrus and the percussion sounds like the "standard" ones FL has to offer.

People who haven't worked with FL probably doesn't notice this anyway, so whatever. :)

@Alexand3rS Nice custom synths are actually pretty easy to make. Just do as I do: pull some knobs here and there until it sounds good. lol

But really, good and unique custom synths doesn't have to be very advanced, as long as it sounds good.

Needs better sounds. Needs better mixing. Sounds like everything is thrown on the drumloop. A little more work crafting the arrangement would make it better. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a hater. I'm actually kind'a impressed at how well it works in 4/4 when the original is 3/4.

Dance, sure, maybe house or something, undoubtedly electronica, but not the kind of sound I associate with techno. Techno is more... complex and dynamic, as synths go. Or maybe it's just what I've heard.

Good to know you're not above criticism. That's a healthy attitude when you're in music. Actually, it's healthy anywhere and everywhere. ;)

There is plenty of room. Look at OCRemix... they have tons of good songs that stray far from the melody. Listen to Jade Catacombs. I think it's on YouTube as well. If you can make songs like this, you'd be awesome.
